Top 10 Reasons to Switch to Electronic Cigarettes
Switching from normal cigarettes to electronic cigarettes has changed my life completely. I struggled on countless occasions to quit smoking and managed at last to give up with the help of using electronic cigarettes.
Whilst I realise smoking e-cigarettes isn’t the perfect solution, studies have shown that electronic cigarettes are far healthier than their normal tar filled counterparts. Having made the switch, I have saved myself thousands of dollars and feel so much healthier now that I have stopped smoking normal cigarettes and switched to electronic cigarettes. There are so many great reasons to switch to electronic cigarettes. Most people do it for the monetary benefit, but there are countless other positives. I would like to share with you a brief list of the 10 things that have stood out for me having made the switch and hopefully this can help you make an informed decision on whether or not to do so as well.
Please feel free to comment below and share any stories or questions you may have! Did we miss any reasons to electronic cigarettes
1) Save yourself a lot of money:
Anyone who smokes know how ludicrously expensive cigarettes have become. You can buy electronic cigarette starter kits for less than $30 dollars and buy 5 eliquids for $7 a go. 2) Considerably fewer chemicals:
There on average 600 different chemicals found in a normal cigarette of which 69 have linked to causing cancer. Many of these are toxic and/or carcinogenic. Tar, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide and ammonia are all in regular cigarette smoke. Electronic cigarettes still have nicotine in them and some reports have shown they can also contain diethylene glycol, a component of antifreeze that’s toxic to humans. So whilst they are not completely free of potentially harmful components they still have considerably fewer chemicals in them than normal cigarettes.
3) No more smoke and ash:
Gone are the days of that awful smoky smell and all that ash. When I smoked I never realised how bad the smell was as it had become the norm, but now when I go into another smoker’s house or go near a smoker, I cannot stand the smell. You can now also get rid of those ashtrays and with it, your house will instantly become so much fresher.
4) Cleaner teeth and better breath:
Having stopped smoking I have now finally managed to get rid of those dirty teeth and bad breath. As electronic cigarettes have far less chemicals in them, your teeth and breath do not suffer anywhere nearly as bad. That bad breath will disappear and people might want to actually kiss you again!
5) Smoke (most) places you want:
As I smoker I hated having to always go outside or into a smoking area to smoke my cigarette. It’s unsocial and often inconvenient. The great thing about e-cigarettes is you can smoke in most indoor places, including bars, restaurants and pubs! However always check before as rules are changing and are different across the world. Check out our great post on vaping rules around the world.
6) No more 2nd hand smoke:
One of my greatest worries as a smoker was the 2nd hand smoke I was creating around friends and loved ones and worrying of the potential health risks involved. Electronic cigarette vapor is completely different to the thick smoke of normal cigarettes and disappears in a matter of seconds. It is mostly an odourless thin mist produced which means you do not have to worry about people inhaling your toxic 2nd hand smoke anymore.
7) You can choose from a variety of flavors:
Eating a nice peanut butter jelly sandwich? Well you can have that taste running through your e cigarette anytime! Choose from countless different e-liquids, or e-juices as they are also known as, like banana, chocolate, sweet candy, strawberry, peach, peanut butter, coffee, mango, tequila or even similar tasting tobacco flavors. The choice of flavors is yours! Some firms will also let you mix your own custom flavours. Vaporfi do a great range of flavours and let you pick and mix your own e-juice. Check it out here.
8) More environmentally friendly
E-cigarettes are essentially smokeless and don’t emit the same air-polluting volatile organic compounds that traditional cigarettes do. Electronic Cigarettes contain no tar, carbon monoxide or other dangerous toxins. They also do not have any ash or cigarette butts which are a huge environmental problem. Billions of butts ended up washing off streets, down drains, into rivers, lakes and streams where the cellulose acetate filters (from wood pulp) end up leaching the 4,000 chemicals pulled into them with each breath from cigarettes. Even in the right conditions, those filters will not biodegrade back into nature. Cigarette butts leach toxins into the water and kill various forms of wildlife. Most e cigs now allow you to recycle them. Greensmartliving do a great range of of environmentally friendly recyclable e cigarettes. Check them out here. Also check out their great infographic on the environmental impact tobacco causes on our planet. I was completely shocked with some of the facts. More great reasons to switch to electronic cigarettes!
9) Choose your Nicotine amount
You can choose between a various amounts of nicotine levels in your e-liquids starting from 0 mg/ml which is nicotine free to about 34 mg/ml. Here is a more detailed list of nicotine levels:
Nicotine free = 0mg nicotine per ml
Low strength = 4 – 10mg of nicotine per ml.
Mid strength = 12 – 18mg nicotine per ml.
High strength = 24 – 30mg per ml.
10) No fire risk
You do not have to worry about burning your house, clothes or yourself whilst using e-cigarettes. They do not have an open burning area, the heating coil is sealed so even if you leave it on and you fall asleep with it nothing can happen.
