Notable Remarks

The HorizonTech Krixus comes in a very standard presentation box, nothing special but does the job well. As much as I am a believer of ‘If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’, It would be nice to see some companies branch out on presentation! Especially on tanks that are different like the Krixus.

Design and Aesthetics

Horizontech Krixus Aesthetics

The Krixus has a very simple design to it. Nothing too fancy, and nothing that really catches the eye. However I am a fan of the simplicity! I think this tank is more focused on performance than looks.

Vaping the HorizonTech Krixus

Horizontech Krixus Coil Base
Horizontech Krixus Coil Base

Vaping this tank has been a very pleasant experience. The flavour is clear and clean like most other ceramic coil tanks I have tried. Although for me I think this has the edge over tanks like the Vapeston Ceramikas and the Vaporesso Target tank.

The clouds aren’t crazy but satisfactory. They wont compete with your drippers but they match the other ceramic tanks as well as most sub ohm tanks.

The coils are rated from 60-120w and I think this is about right. At 60/70w I didn’t find much was happening really, so I bumped up the wattage to 100w and opened the airflow about 2/3 of the way open. That’s my sweet spot. A nice warm vape with dense vapour and brilliant flavour!

Re-wickable Coils

I love the fact that the coils are re-wickable; this greatly increases the lifespan of each coil head with horizon claiming each one is capable of lasting half a year! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to test that out yet for obvious reasons.

Flavour

Horizontech Krixus Airflow
Horizontech Krixus Airflow

For flavour, this is probably my favourite ceramic coil tank. Other than tanks with impressive clapton coils, which are designed for flavour, I think this comes out on top! The flavour is not only very intense but it is clean and crisp as with other ceramic tanks like the Ceramikas.

Dislikes

Airflow Ring

I find the airflow ring to be a little too tight at times. There have been times where I have started unscrewing the tank because the airflow ring wasn’t moving. Also it only works in one direction as opposed to spinning freely, which can be annoying.

Use of Tungsten Wire

The coils of the Krixus are made from Tungsten that then heats the surrounding ceramic element. Whilst ceramic is clean and well known, little is known about Tungsten wire when used in vaping devices. This is a concern for me and I would either like some more information given or for the coils to utilise a more commonly used wire material.

Verdict

This tank is fantastic. Some great flavour, good vapour production, performance at higher wattages and a ton of airflow. Combined with the new ceramic coils which could potentially last up to 6 months each… That’s a year of vaping all in one box, once you have eliquid.

I find that incredible. That one tank with a spare coil could last you a year! Plus the coils are super easy to clean, you simply dry burn them until the juice is gone.

This right now is my favourite ceramic coil tank and definitely in my top 3 tanks to date. If you are into ceramic-coil tanks and haven’t bought one of these yet, I strongly recommend that you give the Horizon Tech Krixus some serious consideration.

  • I wish it didn’t have those ridges on the bottom of the base. Yeah, it’s practical, but they ruin the tank’s look for me.

I’m not a fan of those either Ray! Would much prefer it just to be clean.

Does anyone else have leaking issues? Mine leakes like crazy. Haven’t been able to use because of this and has since just sat inside my coffee table.

    • Sam Bass-Cooper

      Hi Chad,

I haven’t had any leaking with mine? Make sure not to overprime the coil and adjust the juice flow control to closed when filling, I also close off the airflow when I’m not using tanks. Hope some of that helps so you can get the most out of it!

      Hey Christian,

Thank you for the feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed the review! A full breakdown of all the ceramic coils will be coming soon! For me the Krixus is my favourite sub ohm tank on the market right now!

I’m sure you’ll enjoy yours just as much.
