Joyetech Ego AIO Intro

AIO vape anatomy

We review the new Joyetech Ego AIO. This is a pen style AIO (all-in-one) device, which means it is capable of both mouth to lung or direct lung vaping and includes a inbuilt battery. The Ego AIO comes with a 2ml leakproof tank similar to that of the Joyetech Cubis tank. It also features a unique top fill that has a child proof lock on it.

In my opinion the Ego AIO is aimed at smokers looking to quit smoking (beginner vapers) or vapers who are looking for a smaller stealth vaping device for taking out and about.

Notable Remarks

Coils

Joyetech eGo AIO SS316 0.6 Coil
Joyetech eGo AIO SS316 0.6 Coil

The Joyetech Ego AIO uses the same coil heads as the Cubis. All of these coil head swill work on the Ego AIO. The kit itself comes with two 0.6ohm SS coil heads.

Coil heads available for the Joyetech Ego AIO and the Joyetech Cubis tank: 1.5ohm Clapton (MTL), 1ohm SS 316, 0.6ohm SS 316, 0.5ohm SS 316 and 0.2ohm Ni200.

Notes on Airflow

The airflow on the widest setting (both dots aligned) is an ok direct lung draw. For those used to sub ohm tanks this draw might feel slightly restrictive. You can still direct lung, but it is no-where near as airy as any sub ohm tanks. It will suffice for some stealth direct lung vaping when out and about.

The MTL draw (turn the airflow dot 90 degrees) is good for MTL inhales, but not as restrictive as the draw on the Innokin T18 for example. It is still a good draw for smokers looking for their first vape.

Lights

There are 7 different colored LED lights to choose from. These light up in the tank when firing. These lights can also be turned off if you want to save battery life or do not like the lights.

Child Proof Top Fill Lock

Joyetech eGo AIO Charging Port
Joyetech eGo AIO Charging Port

The Joyetech Ego AIO has a great top fill which makes re-filling its 2ml tank really easy. The top fill lid is also locked with a child proof cap. This means you need to push down on it to open it. We have child proof caps on e-liquids, so why not have them on tanks? We think this is a great feature.

AIO Capability

Joyetech eGo AIO Packaging
Joyetech eGo AIO Packaging

We like these new AIO devices that are coming out. It gives vapers a lot of flexibility when it comes to their vape. Whilst the Ego AIO is more suited to MTL vaping, the direct lung draw isn’t too bad if you don’t mind it being more restrictive than the draw on sub ohm tanks.

Battery Life

The Joyetech Ego AIO has a 1500mAh battery, which is pretty great considering its small size. It is smaller in size compared with the Innokin Endura T18 and yet has a 1500mAh battery compared to the 1000mAh battery on the Endura!

Size

Joyetech eGo AIO Size Comparison to the eGo One & eGo One Mini
Joyetech eGo AIO Size Comparison to the eGo One & eGo One Mini

The Ego AIO is a pretty tiny device. It slightly bigger than both the Joyetech Ego One and Ego One Mini, but smaller than the Innokin Endura T18. It fits really nicely in your pocket and is easy to carry around with you. You also won’t have to worry about any leaking in your pockets!

Coil Selection

There are plenty of coils to choose from giving vapers plenty of options. We tried both the 0.6ohm coil and the 1.5ohm Clapton and they both vaped well and produced nice flavor and vapor. We think these might be newer version of the original Cubis coils, as we were not impressed with the initial Cubis coils. It seems Joyetech have ironed out these issues. This isn’t a device for flavor chasers and obviously can’t compare to some of the best sub ohm tanks, RDAs and RTAs. For beginners however, I think the Ego AIO provides a terrific vaping experience.

Price

The Ego AIO is being sold as a kit at around $25 or less depending on where you get it from. This is a great price for those looking for their first vape set up! The Innokin Endura for example is about $5 more expensive and the Ego Ones are even more expensive than the Endura.

Spiral Drip Tip (Anti Spit-Back)

The installed drip tip features spiral design on the inside. This does a great job at protecting against any spit-back that might occur. The spare see-through drip tip does not however feature this spiral design.

Dislikes

Airflow Control Markings

The airflow is difficult to adjust given the lack of markings. For MTL we found it best with the dot moved 90 degrees to either side of the main marking. We would have liked to have seen another marking to indicate this spot for MTL.

Capacity

The 2ml is a bit on the small side but understandable given the size of the device. The Ego AIO does have a top fill, but we still would have liked to have seen an additional 0.5 or 1ml of extra e-liquid capacity.

Looks

Joyetech eGo AIO Handcheck
Joyetech eGo AIO Handcheck

We were not a fan of the looks of this device. The black color looks the best, but the others look too ultra-futuristic in our opinion. We are so used to using words like “sleek” and “elegant”, but they definitely don’t apply to this device – it’s a bit of an ugly one!

Verdict

We are very impressed with the Joyetech Ego AIO. It is a great device for beginners and for those looking to quit smoking. It will also be a good option for those more experienced vapers looking for a portable stealth vape.

Whilst we weren’t a fan of the looks of the Ego AIO, there is not a lot else to complain about. For $25 is it a great price for a device that will be well suited to smokers trying vaping for the first time.

If you are looking for your first vaping device then the Joyetech Ego AIO is a fantastic choice and comparable to Innokin’s Endura T18. Given its AIO capability, smaller size and higher battery capacity we think the Joyetech AIO edges the Endura T18. However, if you want a tighter draw the Innokin T18 is the way forward, as the MTL draw on the Ego AIO was marginally less restrictive.

Looks like joyetech is prepared for EU market. The device looks nice. Bad thing is that you can not detach battery from tank. No battery swap. So be patient until fully charged or buy 2.

    • I guess the lack of a swappable battery keeps things super easy for the beginner. I don’t think beginners should be playing around with batteries! It would be nice if the battery was detachable though, to make cleaning the tank easier without having to worry about getting water in the electrics.

      • Mirza

You have wright. I messed up. I wanted to say that would be nice if you could swap battery just like with my JacVapour e series or Ego One. So you can use another battery. The tank is so built probably while it has to be leak free.

  • Great stuff, Chris! I really like the looks of the white one — very Stormtrooper. I do wish the tank had just a tad more airflow. For what I like, only the 0.5-ohm coil is enjoyable and even then I’m waiting a little bit more airflow. I’m pretty sure a solution is on the way…. 🙂

  • Truman

The lifespan of these coils is utter garbage. I’m burning through a coil a day… maybe every two days if I’m lucky. 2-3 tanks worth of juice if I’m lucky. Don’t buy this; skip to a legitimate vape.

    • Mititelu Tică

I had this problem too. Try to vape without power 4-5 times and after that normal vaping. It works fine for my ego, no more dry burn.

      • Is that still working for you? I tried that but I didn’t work…

  • olix00

Can I use the 1 Ohm resistance on the ego aio ?

  • Mirza

Before ten days I bought one to my brother. It works really good. For the price can’t get better e cig. I recommend silver model while paint chips easily. You can buy silicon sleeve to protect it. Especially if carried in tight jeans. My brother’s was black and it was hard to see the fill line. It worked perfectly until he broke tank glass. It’s thin so I wouldn’t recommend to carry in tight jeans with keys ?.

  • David

I just got my aio and I am a experienced vapor but I really liked the light up and the small simple design. However I started vaping and after a few hits I started getting burnt hits…
So I started to find a new one, and I found the price on this site is much more cheaper than most when I got an account on it, but they are from China, are they original? https://www.elegomall.com/joyetech-ego-aio-quick-start-kit.html

    • I would go for more “trustworthy” shops like fasttech and gearbest. If you want 100% original mods and gear I would suggest purchasing your gear from a trusted regional vendor.

  • Val Bob

What am I doing wrong? I’ve purchased three of the Joytech AIO and after about a month of vaping, I begin tasting the liquid on my lips. Two of the units began putting out clouds of vapor when I depress the button and the top gets very hot. When I inhale, I taste the oily liquid on my lips. I have changed coils, cleaned with alcohol and recharged the unit, but nothing works! It came with no instructions for cleaning either. Is it me or the unit??? 🙂

    • Jay

Today I bought one from a trusted vendor I tested inside the shop was OK when I was driving back the liquid coming out into my lips Went back the store guy cleaned and replaced a new coil. Used for few hours when I came home its not working probably the coil is gone again. Bad experience, could be a coil issue only but they should come out with a good coil. I will go to store tomorrow to check it out as no spare coil is given to me. I am stuck for now as no cigarette no eCig no smoking….

      • Val Bob

Jay, get a refund!!! I have 3 Joyetech AIO units and all are DEAD in less than a month! The rechargeable batteries will no longer charge. I loved the flavor and vaping with this unit but it’s total junk! I wrote the company and they do not stand behind their products. Money down the drain 🙁

        • Vapeman

Do not purchase any vapes from this company. Mine leaked right from the first use from the battery, power button and the charging port. They put you through hell a back and forth and flat out tell you they will not honor their warranty which is to fix or replace the bad unit for free.

          • Arte Maria Benn

just got mine yesterday and was doing something and leaned my unit upward, it began to leak… so will be keeping an eye on it.
i got a replacement coil in my kit though…

        • Vikash Mohanty

As I am seeing All are having same or relativly same problem. I guess youtube videos are fake showing great about this product.. I got mine yesterday i am having same problem of over heating. and battery discharging soon… We should let others know about this before any more victims of the product will face problem.. I will post my review after some day of using..

          • Vikash Mohanty

Why to waste time. Just now my device is not working…..

    • Lori L Repp Shock

Take a look at what Jimbo Brunette (Bimbo Brunette) said on my post. She called me a cheapskate for trying to get Joyetech give some actual customer service instead of me having to give them even more money for something that won’t ever work.

I went and got the iStick Mini and put a Nautilus X tank on it. Half the price for both and have never even had to change the coil in the tank yet, and I’m a heavy vaper and it’s been a month.

Stop spending good money on bad stuff and go get a better mod. You’ll be happier for it.

I stared having problems with my AIO D22 less than a month of owning it. First, it started getting really hot, particularly the screw top and it started to burn my lips. I even had to wait for it to cool down to check the coil since it was so hot I burned my fingers. Now it doesn’t even charge. I bought it in Miami on a visit, and actually live in Wisconsin, so returning the product to the store for repair or replace was not an option. So I contacted [email protected] for support. They said they could do nothing and that I should contact the main China service for support. Every email i sent to [email protected] got a “mailerdeamon” back (I’d love to know who this Deamon guy is). Like five times. So I contacted the Joyetech US guys again. This is the actual email I got back
    “Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having!

We should mention, we are just a distributor of Joyetech and eLeaf products, not the manufacturer.I checked our records with our wholesale dept, and we have never sold to this store. There are hundreds of distributors of Joyetech/eLeaf products out there so they are definitely buying from a different distributor. I would suggest asking for their (the store you bought it from) distributor’s info (contact #) and contacting them for warranty purposes. If you buy directly from us (Joyetech.us or eleafus.com) or from a store we distribute to, we will always be happy to help!

If you can’t get the distributor’s information to contact them, my last suggestion (as a last resort) would be to fill out the product service form on Joyetech.com (the manufacturer’s website) under the ‘contact us’ link on the page and customer service will get back to you about what to do to send it in for warranty repair/replacement.

And for eLeaf products, please email [email protected] for eLeaf support directly.

    Kindly,

    Taylor
    Joyetech USA
    Customer Service Representative”

In the email I had sent them, I had specifically told them I didn’t remember what store I bought it from and that I was having problems using the Joyetech.com service email. These people are obviously morons. I also told them specifically it was the Joyetech ego AIO D22 I was having problems with. Not any eLeaf issue. Again, like I said, total morons. My suggestion, don’t buy this piece of sh*, oh, I mean, crap. Save your money and go for a stealth product like the new Council of Vapor thing or the like. Joyetech does nothing to support their products. Plus, they seem to be complete idiots.

    • Jimbo Brunette

you might be the biggest cheapskate i ever met. If something costs 25 dollars to replace, why would you spend so much time writing letters and calling the manufacturer for replacement or repair, just go buy another one You spend way more in time and money chasing down the solution, and create greif for yourself. I would just go buy another one, or if you truly dont like it, just go buy something else. You do realize these are probably made in Chine for 2 dollars a unit, and the company that brings them into USA and Canada and distributes and marlets them, is prolly just a mailbox or out of someones basement. Why waste your time. Do you actually think there is a room with 10 people answering the phones for guys like you, and they are waiting for the chance to send you a replacement, thats comical if thats what you believe

      • Lori L Repp Shock

No. 1- Are you paid by Joyetech to troll people?
No. 2- How or why I spend my time is none of your fucking business.

Suck on that while you think about what an idiot you are to spend so much time replying to my comment.

You might be the biggest asswipe anyone ever met.

        • Lori L Repp Shock

Oh, and does Jimbo Brunette actually mean “Bimbo” Brunette? Just wondering since your syntax leads me to believe so.

  • Tatkativy

This is a piece of crap. First few pulls is great! Child lock and top fill is amazing. Those are the only good qualities. I can only pull once before having to let it cool down. When I’m trying to relax, I don’t want to worry about a cool down time. The swirl tip still has splash back and itnis hot! This was a horrible design. If this is for newbies, its going to send them back to smoking cigarettes. At least they know what end will burn them. I tried to contact joyetech as well with no response at all. This is horrendous! If anyone finds a way to contact someone who can actually help, let me know!

    • Vikash Mohanty

Was having the same issue …After first it almost burn my lips. I was using turkish gold 16mg smoka liquid. Then i cleaned the tank and coil with tissue paper. And didn’t use right after charging.. When i use low VG juice it doesn’t get heated so fast. It has problem with high VG… Now its working fine.. but ya true its not for continuous vapping. Ad it get heated up pretty fast… Dont over charge.. Clean it… and use low VG juice and it works fine.. or else you can use ego CE4 for starter as its doesn’t get heat up and you can use high VG juice also

      • Marilyn Davie

i changed to a 50/50 juice and a .5 coil…… works great. Was using 80/20 with the .6 that it came with and burned through both coils in 2 days. Works great with the low vg and .5 coil, no heating up or spitting anymore !

        • Vikash Mohanty

Cool Solution I will try it… thanks

          • Marilyn Davie

You’re more than welcome, it worked great for me, and hope it works for you, let me know !

  • Logan Lee

I have one, been working fairly well for about 5 months, although I do find the coils don’t last very long, my experience with pens has told me that they should require little care as they tend to get neglected (not abused) more than the large modular type. The issue with the coils seems to come down to not drawing enough liquid from the tank while taking a pull, meaning a long hard pull will dry the coil out, you can get around this by priming it (4-5 pulls without pressing the button) after periods without use (an hour or more) and a quick pull without power after each heated pull, however, this comes back around to a pen that requires too much care and attention to be an ample first choice for recently quit smokers as they are used to putting a smoke in their mouths lighting it and away they go.

  • Ali Johnson

Does the sleeve from Invapa fit the eGo AIO DS22 please?

  • Guess I’m doing something wrong cause I’m burning through a coil a day. Is there any way to “recycle” a burned coil?

  • Marilyn Davie

Have had mine for a week, store sold me 80vg/20pg juice to go with it, with the .6 coil, burned through 2 coils in 2 days. Went to a different store to see what they said, switched me to a 50vg/50pg juice and .5 coil…………… works awesome now ! I think the trick with this device is a low vg juice . I’ve had no heating problems and no spitting problems with the low vg juice. With the high vg it was spitting and gurling……. so, give the low vg a try………. still on the .5 coil after a week, no problem whatsoever.

Please note : I am using the aio D22 XL

  • Some Dude

This lies. The D16 and D22 can not fire coils with a resistance below 0.5 ohms.

  • Jimbo Brunette

I just bought one of these today. I have tried Vaping 3 years ago, and after 6 months I gave up on it. However I have COPD Emphysema, sleep apnea, pulmonary edemia, and have had 2 Pulmonary embolisms in the last year. I am on continuous oxygen, and even with all that shit going on in my life, I still have been smoking 30 to 40 cigs a day, I just turn off the oxygen and light up. STUPID ME EH? Not to mention the fact I am on disability and only getting 1600 per month from the government, so spending 600 a month on smokes is outlandishly stupid. I am dedicating myself to improving things drastically this year. I am taking pulmonary rehab and supervised fitness courses, walking programs, and going to gym 6 days a week, as well I am on list in Calgary(my home town) for one of the free lap band surgeries that government gives out yearly, and should be getting that gastric bypass within 3 to 5 months. Quitting smoking just makes sense, as my life is hard, shortness of breath when i shower, or walk to my vehicle, so you can imagine that quitting smoking will improve things drastically. I recomend this little Joyetech unit to anyone who wants to quit. Whe i tried 3 years ago, i used kangertech evod 2, and it wasnt worth shit as it constantly cause problems for me from leaking, to coil burning up, etc. But this JOYETECH works so good, and whenever i crave a cigarette i reach for it, and it gives me what i need, and i dont crave cigarettes when i use it, i get a decent amount of nicotine from it, and the way you use it, mirrors smoking just enough to make it believable. I have tried nicotinie gum, patches, little plastic nicotine inhalers; and none of them worked. But I am very happy with the way this is working. If you ever needed a reason to quit smoking, you should spend 2 minutes in the shoes of someone like me with COPD emphysema, and under 40 percent lung function. I hope and pray i can stay of the cigarettes, and if i can lose 120 to 200 pounds this year, my doctor says alot of my conditions will be greatly reduced and even sleep apnea will disapear completely, and my life will be so much easier in just basic day to day things. Pray for my success. thank you all
