Kandypens Gravity Intro

Every so often I come across a wax vape pen that actually does what it is supposed to do. The original Galaxy was that pen. Today we are taking a look at their most recent edition, the Kandypens Gravity.

I am not sure if anybody else cares why they would name it the Gravity that but I guess it doesn’t really matter. Anyways, this is a vape pen for waxy concentrates, much like the original Kandypens wax vape pens that we tried.

But did they improve anything on the Kandypens Gravity? Yes. The only question is, “How much better is it?”. Did they address the issues people were having with the original Galaxy/Donuts vape pens? We are about to find out….

Notable Remarks

Price

$129.95

Not cheap, but you are backed by the Kandypens warranty and from my experience, they hold up pretty well if you take good care of them. You also get two different atomizers so in a way, it is almost like getting two wax pens in one for the price of one. It also feels good to know you are covered for life.

If you are looking for a sub-ohm wax vape pen with better battery life and airflow then I suggest looking into the Kandypens Mini which is only $5 more but you only get one atomizer.

Thoughts

I am still a bit puzzled as to why they would name it the Gravity, when it is made for getting high. Shouldn’t it have been called the zero gravity pen? Either way, Kandypens remains to be one of the most popular choices for concentrates. Let’s take a look and find out why.

The Galaxy was one of the best wax pens I have ever used however I had some issues with its tight draw. The good news is that they have improved the airflow on this one by adding an extra hole. It’s still a mouth-to-lung draw however, it’s a lot easier to pull from now.

Kandypens previously marketed their Donuts and Galaxy pens as separate products but now we have the option of receiving both types of atomizers. I personally prefer the quartz dual coils because they hit way harder but some may prefer the ceramic coil-less atomizers.

Another thing that they improved was the addition of a new lower heat setting, indicated by a pink light, followed by red, green and blue. I thought that was a great idea because I found that this new setting gave me a satisfying hit without being too harsh.

Performance

If you have ever tried the Galaxy pen before then you already know how this one performs using the quartz dual coils. If you have ever tried the Donuts pen, then you pretty much know how the Gravity performs using the ceramic atomizer. Imagine all that with improved airflow.

The old Kandypens rarely clogged due to the upper-positioning of the airflow holes, however that did not stop it from feeling clogged. The Gravity takes it a step further by adding an additional airflow hole, which makes truly a world of difference to even mouth to lung vapers.

Using it on the new pink setting, I was still getting great performance, while using less voltage from the battery so it lasted even longer. I feel like the lower settings work great with the dual coil atomizer, not so much with the ceramic. For the coil-less ones, I use the highest setting.

Gravity vs. Donuts and Galaxy pens

Let’s take a look at how the Gravity compares to both the Donuts and Galaxy pens:

Donuts vs. Gravity (using coil-less atomizer)

The main difference between the Donuts and the Gravity wax vape pens is the atomizers. The Donuts pen gets it name from its coil-less atomizer that has a donut-shaped ring which slowly vaporizes the wax.

The Gravity features a similar type of atomizer except instead the donut has been reduced to a flat surface, creating a tiny cup for your concentrates to sit and bake in. The flat surface also makes this atomizer even easier to clean.

The original Donuts pen had a very tight draw but the Gravity pen addresses this with it’s new and improved airflow system.

Galaxy vs. Gravity (using dual-quartz coil atomizer)

The Gravity wax pen, using the dual quartz-coils, hits very similar to the original Galaxy. The big difference is the improved airflow system that they have added on the Gravity coils, making it my favorite Kandypen for wax to date. That was really the missing link from their previous line of wax vape pens.

Additional new features

The Gravity wax pen, using the dual quartz-coils, hits very similar to the original Galaxy. The big difference is the improved airflow system that they have added on the Gravity coils, making it my favorite Kandypen for wax to date.

Likes

  • Improved airflow
  • Awesome flavor
  • Good battery life
  • Discrete

Dislikes

  • No Micro-USB Charging (C’mon Kandypens, it’s 2016, can we get a Micro-USB up in here?)
  • Pricey (Use our code to save some dough)
  • Not a fan of the coil-less atomizers

Verdict

In summary, this is the next generation of the Kandypens. The Gravity gives you the option of a coil-less or dual coil atomizer right out of the box. Not to mention it will work with your existing Kandypens Donuts/Galaxy atomizers that you may already have, and you will actually get more airflow out of them.

The new heat setting works great at conserving concentrate while providing a smooth and flavorful hit. You won’t get those “BBQ chicken hits” at the end of your session if you keep it on this setting. Not to mention, the pink light actually looks pretty badass, not gonna lie.

The airflow has been improved, which is kind of a big deal to me. That made the Gravity a lot more enjoyable. It doesn’t have as much airflow as the Mini, but then again it is not a sub-ohm vape pen. However, if you are looking for the best of both worlds, then check out the Kandypens Gravity wax vape pen.
