About Mr Good Vape E-Liquid
Mr. Good Vape (MGV) is a Southern California eliquid vendor that’s marketed its own retail line of custom juices since 2012. The current offerings are a limited selection of twelve juices, all dessert blends. Nine include fruit elements, while three have more classic bakery flavor profiles. Market niche is not quite designer/boutique, but not too far from it.
All Mr Good Vape juices are now 100% diacetyl-free, a strong selling point for vapers concerned with ingredient safety.
Mr Good Vape’s retail prices are in the midrange for premium quality juices:
- $12 for a 16.5ml bottle
- $20 for a 30ml bottle
- $65 for a 120ml bottle
The twelve juices sent to me for review arrived in 16.5ml glass bottles with child-proof dropper tops. They were sealed in the clear plastic wrap that has become standard in the industry. The labels are professional, with a wealth of information, including highlighted keywords to describe the flavor components. That’s a particularly nice touch that few other companies provide.
Color of the liquids varies from almost clear with a slight greenish tint through pale gold to a deeper amber. Base blends also vary, but all are more VG than PG, with a correspondingly thick viscosity and good vapor production.
Our E-Liquid Review
Savory coconut complemented with tropical pineapple, and fresh banana.
Mr Good Vape’s eliquid version of a piña colada cocktail. The pineapple gives a deep and satisfying sweetness, while the coconut and banana provide strong back-up harmonies. A tasty and well-balanced tropical treat.
Tart Granny Smith apple pie laced with cinnamon and drizzled with vanilla crème anglaise.
I’ve vaped a lot of apple pie e-liquids, both retail and DIY, and this is as good as it gets. All the sweet and savory elements of delicious apple pie are present in the flavor. Pie crust is particularly difficult to replicate in a vaping liquid, but Dabble Dooyah comes close. Yum!
Rich vanilla ice cream coated with a frozen layer of sweet and tangy tangerine.
Remember Dreamsicles when you were a kid? Vanilla ice milk on a stick with an orange sherbet shell? This one offers tangerine as an upgrade flavor. Not my favorite of the twelve, but pretty good as a simple combo.
Fresh apple and grape candy melted into a splendid richness of subtle sweetness.
Jolly Roger hard candy dimestore-style juice. Very sweet, as it should be. The apple and grape fruit flavors are candied rather than natural, but that’s what the juice aims to replicate, and does so successfully, without any synthetic undertones. A taste trip down memory lane to childhood pleasures.
Fresh honeydew with tropical guava, Madagascar vanilla, and pure honeysuckle.
Another creamy fruit blend, more natural than candied, but with a distinctly sweet base. While the honeydew is listed first in the description and is clearly the initial flavor tasted on the inhale, its impact isn’t assertive or potent. Instead, the honeydew flavor is mellowed and softened by the other elements. The floral honeysuckle merged with Madagascar vanilla actually carry the juice more than the melon (which is stronger here in smell than in flavor), while the guava adds extra sweetness.
Fresh peaches with a smooth custard-like vanilla bean ice cream.
I’m not really a “peach” guy, so I wasn’t sure I’d like this peaches-and-cream juice, but it’s quite nice. To my palate, the flavor tastes like cooked peaches (not “fresh,” but not canned, either) in a base that’s creamy more than sweet. The vanilla doesn’t stand out, but harmonizes well with the peach. A very smooth and soothing vape.
Juicy cantaloupe with a refreshing complement of tart citrus, Hawaiian papaya and sweet mango.
Another fruit medley with a more natural tone. Definitely an ensemble effort, with each of the component flavors — tropical island fruits, cantaloupe, and citrus — contributing equally. The cantaloupe is obvious but not overwhelming. Even with citrus, the juice isn’t really crisp or tart, but nicely balanced between sweet and savory. This is essentially a laid-back fresh fruit salad.
Crisp sugar cookie drizzled with warm butterscotch dusted with ground graham cracker.
Moon Sugar has a great cookie taste without much cookie “feel,” but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of this very satisfying dessert vape. The mix of these flavor components is beautifully balanced — no single flavor stands out — and the overall taste is the most unified of any liquid in the Mr Good Vape line. Nothing particularly bold or revolutionary here, but who cares? The end result is terrific. Proof that one doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel to come up with a truly delicious eliquid.
Toasted Pistachios blended with rich tobacco, savory dark chocolate, and the subtle hint of mint.
A surprising and odd mix. Synthetic tobacco blends well with Pistachio nut, while the rich semi-sweet chocolate and moderate mint take the overall flavor to an unexpected destination. Personally, I found this juice a bit too eccentric for my taste, but lovers of tobacco hybrid blends may find it interesting.
Smooth vanilla bean gelato covered in hot caramel and chopped buttered pecans layered [in] a warm waffle cone.
Like Moon Sugar, Sundae Fundae is a classic combination of dessert flavors. Unlike Moon Sugar, however, which tasted like a cookie but didn’t feel like one, Sundae Fundae is actually reminiscent of a waffle cone vanilla ice cream sundae (minus the cold mouth-feel and waffle crunch, of course). All the flavors come through in the mix — first the caramel and pecans, then the vanilla and waffle cone — with just enough sweetness to make a yummy vape. Very nice.
Tart Greek yogurt blended in with zesty orange, sweet pineapple and ripe banana.
This is an interesting and unusual blend, but unusual in a good way. I don’t taste much of the Greek yogurt — it’s more an accent than a distinct flavor. Nor can I taste orange, pineapple, and banana as separate flavors. In this liquid more than any other in the MGV line, the flavor elements are completely unified into a single overall taste.
Sweet and bright strawberry watermelon candy with chewy bubblegum.
I’ve vaped other watermelon/strawberry blends where the candied watermelon was aggressive and artificial. Sweet Lovin’s watermelon isn’t, which I prefer. The watermelon is moderated, allowing the strawberry to lead. Both are carried by an overtone of potent sweetness. Bubblegum fans may like this one, but personally I wanted more fruit and less sweetness. In fairness, Sweet Lovin is designed to mimic a kid’s candy eliquid, so the extra sweetness is probably appropriate.
The trend toward diacetyl-free juices presents eliquid makers with the challenge of mixing deep but creamy flavors. Mr Good Vape has succeeded in making the transition very effectively.
MGV’s juices are all well-formulated, uniformly balanced, and amply flavorful. The flavor components are accurate, without any artificial or synthetic notes. In the majority of mixes, I found the various elements more distinct than unified, so I regard the overall line as medleys rather than blends, metaphorically akin to salads more than cooked soups. Taken as a group, the lineup is designed to stimulate childhood memories of candies and treats, so the liquids tend toward simplicity over complexity and are more straightforward than nuanced. Flavors are clear and present rather than bold or bright.
If you like sweet, dessert-style juices with a playful, light-hearted approach to combining flavors, Mr Good Vapes’ eliquids should satisfy your yearnings.
