OBS T-VCT Sub Ohm Tank Review

Today is yet another sub ohm tank review and this time we take a look at the OBS T-VCT sub ohm tank. The OBS T-VCT is a top filling sub ohm tank with a massive 6ml tank capacity (nice!). It comes with a 0.25 and 0.5ohm Japanese cotton coil and has two wide airflow slots. The OBS T-VCT also has an adjustable middle post which you can adjust to change the size of the e-liquid slots on the coils to control your juice flow. It looks like a really interesting sub ohm tank with some really nice features and we take an in depth look below.

A big thank you to Bruce at OBS for sending us the OBS T-VCT and we will also be giving away two OBS T-VCTs in our big sub ohm tank video, which will be coming soon!

Notable Remarks

Vaping the 0.5 BVC Coil on the OBS T-VCT

For this review we used our IPV4 100W box mod and our favourite sub ohming vape juice – Fa-Q Miss Samoa. Check out our Fa-Q review for more info on that delicious e-juice.

The 0.5ohm BVC coil has a recommended wattage of 10-35W.

10W – Absolutely nothing going on here at 10W. A tiny whisp of vapor and nothing more
20W – More vapor now, but still quite cold and not much flavor yet
30W – Ok now we are talking. Big vapor now and a slightly warmer vape with the flavor starting to come through
35W – A nice warm vape now, just how we like it. The flavor is pretty good, but not quite fully coming out. I will get through a tank or two and then come back and try again
40W – Got a dry hit pretty quick at 40W so I wouldn’t recommend vaping this coil above the recommended

Vaping the 0.25ohm BDTC on the OBS T-VCT

The recommend wattage for this coil is: 10- 50W.

10W – Nope nothing but a faint whisp of vapor
20W – A little bit of vapor now and cool vape with little flavor
30W – Getting there now and flavor and clouds starting to come through
40W – A nice warm vape now with lovely plumes of warm vapor and flavor. That’s bang on the money for how we like to vape at
50W – Yummy! Slightly warmer vapor now but the drip tip stays relatively cool and doesn’t overheat. I would probably vape somewhere around 40-50W on the OBS T-VCT sub ohm tank.
60W – Getting hot very fast now so wouldn’t recommend going any higher than 50W.

So my impression was that the 0.25ohm dual coil tasted a lot better than the 0.5ohm single coil. The vapor was also a lot more and was just a much more enjoyable vape for what I like.

Good Air Flow

There are two big air flow slots on the OBS T-VCT which provide plenty of vapor. The air flow can be adjusted easily. The air flow is comparable to that of the Crown by Uwell and the Herakles.

Massive Juice Capacity

The OBS T-VCT comes with a massive 6ml tank! That is bigger than the Atlantis Mega and only 1ml less than the massive Subtank Plus. Despite this it’s actually a lot smaller than the Subtank Plus and Atlantis Mega and only 22mm in diameter, so it won’t be overlapping on any of your box mods! I think the big e-juice capacity is one of the biggest selling points on this sub ohm tank.

Top Fill Capability

OBS T-VCT Top Fill
OBS T-VCT Top Fill

The OBS T-VCT comes with a top filling capacity. You can screw off the top part and then there are two holes for filling. The holes aren’t the biggest, so it was slightly tricky with a dripping style e-liquid bottle. However, if you have an e-liquid bottle with needle type tip it won’t be an issue. Even with the drip tip e-liquid bottles it wasn’t too bad, you just need a steady hand! Overall though it is nice having this top fill feature as it does make refilling a lot easier.

Juice Flow Control

The middle post around the coil can be adjusted by twisting the top ring on the OBS T-VCT tank. If you are using higher PG e-liquids you can adjust the juice flow on the juice flow holes using this centre post. This is something not a lot of the sub ohm tanks have and was a very nice feature. I won’t really be using it much as we tend to use high VG e-liquids, but for those who use slightly higher PG this is a nice feature.

Looks and Stainless Steel Protection around the Pyrex Tank

I really like the looks of the OBS T-VCT sub ohm tank. The stainless steel cover over the glass Pyrex is great, as it gives the glass some protection without blocking your view of the e-juice like on the Delta 2. If you drop the tank this should help stop it from breaking.

Good Flavor and Vapor

All the sub ohm tanks have pretty amazing flavor, so let’s put the OBS T-VCT into perspective for you compared to the other sub ohm tanks we have tried. The 0.5ohm coil wasn’t really for me as the flavor didn’t quite come through as much as I had hoped. However, I thought the 0.25 ohm dual coil was a lot better especially at 40-50W. In terms of vapor the OBS T-VCT is up there with the other top sub ohm tanks. Flavor wise I think the 0.25ohm coil was really great, but not quite up there with the Uwell Crown, Herakles and Freemax Starre – our top 3 for flavour so far. It isn’t far off these tanks at all and up there with the Atlantis 2, Subtank Mini and Delta 2. I really enjoyed the vape and hopefully that gives you an idea as to what the flavor is like. Obviously this is just our personal opinion and some people might disagree, which is absolutely fine as it always comes down to personal preference!

RBA Section and Ni200 Temp Sensing Coils Coming Soon

There is an RBA section coming soon for the OBS T-VCT and also Ni200 temp sensing coils, which I think will both be a fantastic addition to this tank. The Ni200 and RBA will work fantastically well with the new IPV4 temperature control box mod! I would love to see the RBA section included in the OBS T-VCT kit in the future, as think this would add great value to this tank.

Good Instruction Leaflet

OBS T-VCT Manual

The OBS T-VCT comes with a really nicely written instruction pamphlet which explains how to use the tank. It is a well written little leaflet with some good pictures and instructions! (makes a nice change on some of the horrible instructions we have read so far!).

0.5ohm Single Coil

OBS T-VCT Coil vs Atlantis Coil
OBS T-VCT Coil vs Atlantis Coil

As I mentioned above, the 0.5ohm single coil wasn’t really for us as I didn’t think the flavor was that good on it. There was a slightly metallic/alcohol taste to the coil to begin with, even after letting it saturate for a good 10 minutes. This metallic taste slowly disappeared but it took a while to go. The 0.25ohm coil was lot better and had fantastic flavor! Do bear in mind though that using the 0.5ohm coil will use up less battery, so some might prefer it to the 0.25ohm coil.

Top Filling Slots a Little too Small

I am being very picky now, but I would have liked the top filling slots to have been slightly bigger. It isn’t an issue if you have an e-liquid bottle with a needle type tip, but with a dripping style tip, it becomes slightly tricky. Nothing major but perhaps something for Bruce to think about!

Overall we were very impressed with this sub ohm tank and it definitely ranks up there with our favourite sub ohm tanks so far! At $32.99 it is priced pretty well and coils cost around $15 for 5 replacements.

We really liked the top filling feature, juice flow control, airflow and the massive 6ml tank on the OBS T-VCT. I think for those who want a sub ohm tank with a bigger tank capacity the OBS T-VCT is a fantastic choice. I would definitely buy it over the Atlantis Mega and the Subtank Plus, if you are looking for juice capacity. The tank is bigger than the Atlantis Mega, but the tank itself is way smaller and still 22mm, which means it will sit nicely on your 50W mods.

We also liked the wattage range and you won’t need a 100 or 150W box mod for this sub ohm tank. A 50W box mod like the Vaporfi Vox 2 or iStick 50W is perfect for the OBS T-VCT sub ohm tank, which makes it very accessible to many vapers who already have a 50W device!

Overall the OBS T-VCT is a fantastic tank and we are looking forward to the RBA section and Ni200 coils for this tank, which I think will make it one of the top sub ohm tanks on the market!

We hope our OBS T-VCT review was helpful and as always if you have any questions, just drop us a comment below.
