Vaporfi Vox II Intro

We take a look at the new and improved Vaporfi Vox II. The Vox II is a much improved version over the previous Vox 50 Mod by Vaporfi. Vaporfi took in the consumer feedback on the original Vox and have come up with a completely different looking mini 50W box mod. The Vox 2 will be priced lower than the original, but will pack many more features! It is great to see that Vaporfi are listening to their customers and have worked quickly to come out with an improved version at a cheaper price, without forgoing on quality.

The Vox II is 100% crafted and designed by the VaporFi team, so this unique 50W box mod cannot be found anywhere else.

You can purchase the Vox II on its own or you can purchase it as part of a starter kit, where you have the choice of 3 different tanks: Rebel II tank, Bolt RDA or the popular sub ohm tank the Volt. If you want a direct lung inhale I would opt for the Volt and if you want a mouth to lung type inhale, I would opt for the Rebel tank. If you want an RDA and want to drip I would recommend the Bolt RDA.

Much Improved on the Older Vox and Cheaper

Vaporfi VOX II Handcheck
Vaporfi VOX II Handcheck

As mentioned earlier, the Vox 2 is much improved in a number of areas and is also cheaper than the original. It is by no means a cheap box mod, but with our coupon code you’ll be able to save $20, which makes the Vox II more affordable. The biggest improvements that stood out for me were: the spring loaded pin, smoother finish, the 35A 2500mAh battery now included and the 5 pre-set custom wattage settings, so you don’t have to scroll up and down in 0.1W increments. The top cap and threading are also vastly improved and make sure every tank will sit flush and receive decent air flow.

Quality Build

So recently there have been many stories about people’s iStick 50W devices auto firing and then some exploding (see Reddit thread). It feels to me like Eleaf and other manufacturers are rushing devices out and foregoing on quality. I guess you get what you pay for and the iSticks are at the cheaper end of the market, but you also then run the risk of your device failing on you months later when purchasing a cheaper mod (fortunately ours is still running!). The Vox II is much more expensive, but feels to me like a much more solid high quality box mod. If you drop it, it doesn’t feel like it will completely fall apart. The threading and finish are top quality and the device itself sits really nicely in your hand and has a nice smooth stainless steel finish. The original had slightly sharpish edges, which have been removed and rounded on this model. The Vox 2 also doesn’t have a massive firing delay like on the iStick 50W, and fires pretty much instantly.

6 Month Warranty and US Based Customer Service with a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee

This is one of the big selling points for me on this box mod. I can’t find any other mods that feature a warranty that comes anywhere close to 6 months as on the Vox 2. Even the Vaporshark mods are only covered with a 120 day warranty and that only for manufacturing defects. This is one thing Vaporfi do very well and in my opinion goes towards justifying the slightly more expensive price tag. You have the 6 month warranty on this device, as well as a 30 day money back guarantee if you decide that the Vox 2 isn’t for you. To top things off you can deal with a US based customer service team who will go out of their way to sort out any issues that you have.

Pre-set Wattage Settings

The Vox II comes with 5 pre-set wattage settings. These can be scrolled between using the + button and are labelled as M1-M5. You can change each of these settings to a wattage of your choice. The advantage of this is that you can quickly scroll between these settings one click at a time, as opposed to having to scroll up and down in 0.1W increments between wattages. I have mine set at 10W, 20W, 30W, 40W and 50W.

To change a pre-set setting go to the desired setting by using the + button. Once on that setting hit the – button and then scroll up or down using the + or – to the wattage you want to fix it at. Once at your desired wattage hit the power button for 2s to set that wattage. You can now switch between you pre-set wattages using the + button.

0.2ohm Capability

A 0.2ohm minimum is a now a must for me on these type of box mods. This means the Vox II will be able to use all the new low ohm sub ohm tanks and you will be able to use any builds of yours down to 0.2ohm.

Host of Important Safety Features

Safety is crucial when using a high powered box mod like the Vox II. I like the fact that the Vox II comes with everything you could have wanted in terms of safety features:

  • Output Short-Circuit Protection
  • Reverse Battery Protection
  • Low Voltage Protection
  • Device Lock Feature
  • Low Resistance Protection
  • Input High Voltage Warning
  • Temperature Protection
  • Vented Battery Casing

Nice OLED Screen with Good Info

The OLED screen looks great and has all the info you need.

Vox 2 Comes with a 35A 2500mAh Battery

One thing that annoys me with some other mods, is that they don’t come with an 18650 battery and you have to purchase them separately. For those purchasing their first box mod, it is good that Vaporfi have included a really high quality battery in the kit. The original Vox didn’t have the battery included, so it’s good to see this included and for a lower overall price – nice!

Dislikes

Bottom Copper Pin Inside Battery Casing

I needed to adjust this pin slightly to make sure the battery sat correctly in the casing. It was a slight inconvenience, but would have been good to have a spring connection on the bottom of some sort. The battery casing is easy to open and close, so should you want to charge the Vox 2 battery in a separate 18650 battery charger, then you can do so. This means you could have two batteries and switch between the two, so you never run out of battery life. The battery life will depend on what ohm coil you are using or what wattage you are firing it at. The battery life was similar to that of other similar box mods and lasted a long time. If you are really concerned about battery life, then get yourself another 18650 battery to use in the Vox 2.

USB Port on the Bottom

Vaporfi VOX II Vent Hole/Battery Cap
Vaporfi VOX II Vent Hole/Battery Cap

Another small, but slightly annoying point was that the USB charging port is featured on the bottom of the device. This does means it is out of the way and doesn’t ruin the aesthetics of the device. However, when you want to use the USB pass through charging and vape whilst your Vox 2 is charging, you will need to lay your vape mod on its side. If you have an RDA or sub ohm tank this could potentially cause some leakage. It’s just nicer having it stand upright when charging, but by no means a deal breaker.

Verdict

Overall the Vox 2 box mod is a vast improvement over the original Vox mod. Vaporfi took in the feedback from its customers and reviewers and came back and produced a much better 50W mod at a lower price. It still isn’t cheap at all, but I think the outstanding build quality and 6 month warranty, 30 day money back guarantee and US based customer service, go some way to justify it’s hefty price tag. You can also save $20 on the Vox II with our 12% off vaporfi coupon code below that will be automatically applied to your entire cart when you click on the link below. The great safety features and pre-set wattage settings are also great additions to this vape mod and make it one of the most solid and high quality 50W devices on the market.
