Nothing fishy here

Koi CBD offers two pre-mixed e-liquids that feature CBD. Unlike CBDfx, these products offer CBD vaping straight from the bottle. Measuring, mixing, and guessing is not required. The company launched with two flavors — Gold Koi and Red Koi. They’re available in different CBD levels, as well as different nicotine levels. No matter your preference, Koi CBD is a great way to experience CBD vaping in the easiest possible way and especially attractive to vapers accustomed to vaping nicotine e-liquids.

Koi CBD options and pricing

Koi CBD claims that its CBD extract is 99-percent pure. The company uses a CBD isolate that’s THC and terpene free. Its extract has been tested by an independent lab and the results are available if you’re interested. To show that its e-liquids are THC-free, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was performed. To show that its extract is terpene-free, gas chromatography flame ionization detection (GC-FID) was performed. As many vapers have questions and concerns about the legitimacy of some CBD extracts, I appreciate that Koi CBD makes its lab results available.

As I mentioned in the intro, Koi CBD’s two launch flavors are Gold Koi and Red Koi. The former is a mix of four different vanillas and caramel. The latter is described as a strawberry milkshake. They have now added flavors like Blue Koi, a blue raspberry dragonfruit, Pink Koi, a pink lemonade, Jade Koi, a green apple and White Koi, an unflavored additive.

All their flavors are available with 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 milligrams of CBD. They are not available with nicotine. The pricing is affected by the CBD level.

Koi also has also launched their strongest cbd oil thus far called Koi Naturals, which is designed to be ingested orally not for vaping.

Vaping Koi CBD

As far as Koi CBD’s two launch flavors, I greatly preferred Gold Koi over Red Koi. I tend to enjoy savory dessert e-liquids over anything with fruit. Additionally, California e-liquid companies flooded the market with strawberries-and-cream flavors in 2014. I’ve been burned out on the flavor since then. That isn’t to see Red Koi isn’t tasty. It’s a perfectly fine strawberries-and-cream e-liquid that I’m sure many people would enjoy. My tastebuds simply preferred Gold Koi.

Aftertaste can be an issue with many CBD vape oil. The extract normally imparts a flavor that some describe as earthy or grassy. Surprisingly, the Koi CBD flavors tasted similar to non-CBD e-liquids I’ve had. Whether it’s the flavors the company used or its extraction method, the aftertaste was minimal.

Experimenting with the different CBD levels was interesting, even though the results were pretty much what I expected. Obviously, the 1,000-milligram version is the fastest way to experience the effects of CBD. Its potency can’t be touched by the other levels.

Having said that, I “enjoyed” vaping the 100-milligram version with 3 milligrams of nicotine more. Part of it was that the level was more appropriate for all-day vaping. The larger part of it was the nicotine. Even a small amount of nicotine affects flavor and provides a more satisfying throat hit. For vapers that only use zero-nicotine e-liquids, the former won’t be noticed and the latter is a non-issue. As a vaper that normally enjoys low-nicotine e-liquids, that tiny bit made all the difference.

While the 1,000-milligram version of Koi CBD is the way to go for efficiency, I suggest giving the 250-milligram variant a shot if you already vape e-liquid with nicotine. For me, it was just like how I normally vape, but with the added benefit of CBD.

Closing thoughts and more

Koi CBD has done a great job with its two launch flavors. On their own, I believe that most vapers would find them enjoyable. If you enjoy dessert vapes then I highly suggest Gold Koi. I really like that these e-liquids are available with CBD and nicotine. I normally don’t enjoy zero-nicotine e-liquids and really appreciate that Koi CBD allows me to enjoy CBD vaping with a bit of nicotine added in. I recommend both of these great CBD vape juices if you’re looking for an easy way to experience CBD vaping, but especially if you’re a nicotine vaper.

If you’re looking for something more along the lines of CBDfx, the company has recently launched White Koi. Available in 250 milligrams without nicotine, this flavorless added is meant to be taken sublingually, mixed with foods, mixed with beverages, and mixed with e-liquid. Since I imagine most vapers don’t want to be bothered with that, I suggest trying Gold Koi and Red Koi first.

Wow. Just got my bottle of Gold Koi 100mg. last night and then this article. I agree with your review Raymond. A light earthy after taste, but good flavor and aroma. First time using cbd, and after vaping for a short session I do notice a relaxing effect.
