Product intro and specs

The Yocan UNI Pro is a versatile and inexpensive box mod for oil cartridges. This mod may make you never want to see a cheap vape pen again! What’s unbelievable is the mod costs practically the same—if not less—than some eGo pens you’d find in a dispensary.

The UNI Pro is a fully functional 510 threaded battery with all the power features that trump vape pens, but it also has mechanical adjustability to give your cartridge a precise and hidden fit. The UNI Pro can be easily customized to fit the width of a THC or CBD oil cartridge, up to 14 mm, while concealing the tank inside of the mod’s body. It also features an internal 650 mAh battery along with variable voltage and an easily readable OLED display. And that’s just a quick summary. Here’s a closer look at this stunner of an affordable vape mod.

The second I took out the UNI Pro from its packaging I was sold! This thing is super useful, nicely made, and lightweight. The dimensions are ~ 75.5 mm x 36.5 mm x 25.7 mm, and it only weighs 51 grams. It's got a rubberized coating on a C-frame that makes it comfortable to hold and touch. The fire button is clicky and well placed, and the adjustment buttons take all the guesswork out of selecting the voltage.

I’m not a fan of color-coded LEDs that correspond to voltage settings because there’s no consistency between brands of what those colors mean. One brand may have 3.7 V for a green light and another will use red. The Uni PRO has an OLED readout that clearly shows you where your power is set. You can also pre-heat your cartridge up to 10 seconds instead of puffing on a cold coil.

There are a couple cooler features to the Uni PRO. A notched dial around the top of the mod closes a collar around your tank to prevent wiggle room, and a side-slider that adjusts to three different heights for the 510-platform that’s deeply recessed in the mod. Both the dial and the slider work without hiccups. It’s all very intuitive. Simply move up the side-slider to your desired height; it will click in place and hold your tank firmly. Then turn the dial and secure it.

Main Operations

  • Five clicks of the fire buttons to turn on/off
  • Voltage down (left arrow)
  • Voltage up (right arrow)
  • Two quicks of the fire button to engage preheat mode
  • Power specs, features, and protections

    • 650 mAh internal battery
    • 2 V-4.2 V variable voltage
    • “No atomizer” warning of bad connection
    • “Shorted” atomizer safeguards against too-low resistance (below 0.5-ohm)
    • The Yocan UNI Pro also comes with a lanyard connection for easy-carry, and a magnetic 510-adapter. The magnetic 510-adapter allows you to screw in the tank outside the mod and then simply drop it in. That adds to the convenience factor of the device, although you do want to make sure you don’t lose that adapter. Only one is included in the kit. Without it, you won’t be able to use the Uni PRO.

      Performance

The Yocan UNI Pro is easy to use and it works how a box mod should. It’s not going to get you higher than a pen necessarily, but it's worlds more reliable. The battery lasts a good while and the wide-range of voltage ensures that you're never going to be without adequate power.

Not a single part of the device has given me any issues so far. That said, although I do like the range of voltage, I’ve never seen a CBD/THC cart that needed much more power than 3.7 V. Having the option to use 4.2 V is nice, but you also risk burning up a coil if you hit it with too much power. I recommend resisting the temptation to push your cart beyond its limits.

If you’re entertaining guests and you have more mouths on your cart, the 650 mAh battery will get you and your company ripped without fear of a failed hit due to a dead battery. When your battery is finally in need of a charge, the OLED display will show “low battery.” But unlike pens that only flash once dead, the UNI Pro has a battery status indicator in the LED that allows you to easily see how much battery life you have left. When it's time to charge, just plug the included-charge cord into the micro-USB port located near the bottom of the mod. You can charge anywhere that you normally charge your electronics with a micro USB.

      Verdict

I simply love this device! Assuming you have a THC or CBD cart, I can’t think of a better option for under $30 to power it. The customization of the mod and the electronic features make this an easy recommendation. Frankly, I had to think long and hard about a con...and still could only come up with one that was generic. Granted, it’s not as discreet as a vape pen, but with the functionality and ease-of-use of the Uni PRO, it more than makes up for an increase in size. Furthermore, with its recessed 510 that’s concealed in the mod, it's still perfectly pocketable.

      Highly recommended.
