The Apollo Brez is a prefilled nic salt vape designed for smokers and those new to vaping. It’s a lightweight and slim device that’s perfectly pocketable and stealthy. You’ll barely notice having it in your pocket.
The Brez Deluxe starter kit comes with everything you need to begin vaping just seconds after opening the kit. It includes one 320 mAh battery device, a proprietary charge chord, and a multi-flavor pack of five pods that hold 1 mL of vape juice. Yes, you read that correctly. Five flavors come with the kit! And unlike many similar vapes, you can choose between two nicotine salt options: 5% and 2.5%.
Kit price: $39.95 (at Apollo)
Replacement pods: $19.99 (per four-pack)
The Apollo Brez is designed and manufactured nicely. It’s slender and sleek and it feels good in the hand … or pocket. All the edges of the device are rounded which makes it ergonomic and comfortable to use. And the finish on the Brez is matte, which makes it a pleasure to touch.
The Brez is a small device. You could have several in your pocket without them hardly adding any bulk. It’s about as long as two AA batteries (approximately 104 mm x 16 mm x 8 mm), and it doesn’t weigh much more than three quarters (17 g). One day while I was testing the device, I lost track of it and couldn’t find it. As it turns out, it was in my pocket!
The Apollo Brez comes with the battery device, a five-flavor-pack of pods (in 2.5% or 5.0% nicotine), and a proprietary micro USB charger. The hardest part of getting the Brez up and running is opening the package! Seriously.
How to use:
That’s it. Because the Brez has an automatic draw, you don’t have to turn on the device or hold down buttons to take a hit. Simply put it up to your mouth and draw on it. There’s a little juice window on the side of the pod that makes it easy to see you how much liquid is left. That way, you’ll know if you have more hits left without having to remove the pod.
The Brez hit is super easy on the throat. The vapor is only moderately warm and it’s a similar puff size to the smoke from a cigarette. The draw is tight like a cigarette, but it hits easily. No need for taking a forceful drag. It activates quickly with only a light pull.
Apollo uses a coil technology called TruCeramic that claims to make the vape flavorful and smooth. My testing confirms that. Even though the 5% option of nicotine is high, and it’s double that of the 2.5% option, they don’t feel that much different. The 5% option has just a mild throat hit and the 2.5% option has hardly any kick.
The Brez hits are quiet, and I’ve had no issues like getting juice in the mouth or any problematic leaking from the pod. But the Brez vapes best with short puffs. In my experience, the flavor can taste over-heated when taking long drags over-and-over without stopping. I recommend taking short puffs at a moderate pace. If you do that, it’ll hit consistently with good flavor.
Based on my testing and that of others in our office, we agree that the Brez flavors are good. Of course, favorites will differ, but we’ve had no complaints about flavors from the Brez. As a matter of fact, a few of the flavors we like a lot!
Like the JUUL, the Brez has a limited number of flavors. In total, there are five flavors – and each one can be tried when you buy the kit. Unlike some similar kits on the market, the Brez pods are color-coded, so you’ll know which is which when they’re out of the pack.
RY4: A renowned flavor from Apollo. It’s tobacco, vanilla, and caramel. This is my favorite. It’s sweet and velvety, but the tobacco gives it a more mature flavor.
Breeze: This is my second favorite of the bunch. It’s sweet menthol. Although I don’t usually like menthol, Breeze is cool going down, but not so cold that it’s uncomfortable. It’s better than a generic menthol.
Tobacco: The tobacco flavor is a bit non-descript. It’s a little nutty and woody, but the flavor’s not very pronounced. It tastes like the tobacco flavor in their RY4, but without the vanilla and caramel.
Melon: This is one of the lightest flavors of the bunch. It’s lightly sweet and it has an authentic smell of melon, but only really on the inhale. There’s not much smell to this one when you vape it.
Berry Blend: This one is more fruit tasting than candy, but there are notes of an almost Twizzler-like taste. However, it’s not very sweet either. It’s a nice fruit/candy taste without being over-the-top.
*All the flavors have a light but pleasant aroma when vaping.
The FDA announced Jan. 2 that it will begin enforcing all Deeming Rule requirements immediately for prefilled pod- and cartridge-based vaping products in flavors other than tobacco and menthol. Products sold after Feb. 2 are subject to enforcement if the FDA has not granted them marketing approval through a premarket tobacco application (PMTA). No PMTAs have been approved for vaping products yet. The FDA guidance only applies to products sold in the United States.
The battery life on the Brez is incredible! It only has a 320 mAh battery, which is about average if not above average for the size of the device. But it’s not always about the battery capacity (mAh); sometimes it’s about how efficient the device is at using its power. The Brez is quite efficient. I’m able to get a vape a whole pod before the battery dies, and it takes me about a day to go through the pod.
There’s a little LED on the face of the device that lights up white when the device is charged, and when there’s charge left. Once the battery is drained, the LED will flash.
The proprietary charger comes assembled in two parts. The micro USB cord and the little Brez charge port that’s attached to it. The charge port is like a little magnetized cup that holds the Brez while charging. To charge the Brez, simply place the bottom of the device into charge port and plug it into a USB port. The Brez has pass-thru charging, which means you can use it while it charges. If you want to do that, it would be best to switch the cord that comes with the Brez for a longer micro USB charger because the one it comes with is short.
The Apollo Brez is easy to use and it has consistent hits. Plus, the battery life is really good for its size. I never had one die on me during the day when it was charged in the morning.
Considering its build quality and design, the vape quality, the battery life, and the five-flavor variety pack, I think the Brez is a solid value for $39.95. If you or someone you know is a smoker looking for a smooth and easy vape, try the Brez.
