V2 are the largest online seller of e-cigarettes. They operate all over the world and have dedicated US, UK, German and EU websites. They also have a warehouse in the UK for speedy delivery to the UK and EU. V2 are known for their innovation and high-quality products. They sell mini e-cigs, vaporizers, shisha pens and their platinum e-liquids.
In this review we take a look at the revolutionary new Ex Series by V2. These are their latest e-cigarette starter kits that come with brand new and improved cartridges and also with a battery life indicator.
Thank you to V2 UK who sent over these samples for us to test and review.
You can purchase the V2 Ex Series separately or as part of a kit. I would recommend purchasing the Ex series starter kit as it called on the UK or the standard kit, as it is called on the US. The kit has everything you would need as a beginner and comes with the following gear:
Alternatively on the US store they offer an ultimate kit which comes with a car charger, portable charging case and 25 ex flavour cartridges. This kit will keep you going for a while!
The V2 Ex Series batteries come in 5 different colours:
V2 cigs also offer you the chance to buy their EX blanks, which are mini tanks that fit on the ex series batteries. These are great little tanks and you can see them in the pictures further below. Putting one of these tanks on works great and turns your mini e-cig into a little shisha pen or ego electronic cigarette.
We have tried many different mini e-cigarettes or cig-a-likes as some people call them and have not come across many decent models. Our top ranked minis so far are the Epuffer magnum snaps and the JAC VIP kit and we haven’t come across other cig-a-likes that have come close to these two. Well I think we might have finally found a contender – the V2 Ex Series!
The design of the V2 ex series is fantastic. The first thing that stood out for me is that it looks great, stylish and well built. The battery life indicator is noticeable on the bottom of the ex series and is something I have not seen anywhere else! There are 5 different designs to choose from and we tried the scarlet and the bloom. I personally would have chosen the brushed steel or carbon fibre as those look very sleek to me, but the bloom and scarlet are good options for the ladies maybe.
The ex series carts screw onto the battery and then you slide a cap over the cart. You can also vape without the cap on, but it looks nicer with the cap on.
The V2 ex series most impressive features are its revolutionary new cartridges. Honestly these were fantastic and are completely unique to V2. Usually mini carts run out quite quickly as they tend to hold a small amount of e-liquid in wick or cotton. The ex series carts are effectively a mini tank with a coil/atomizer at the bottom of the cart. There is a window on the side of the cart which shows you exactly how much e-liquid you have left. This was a great feature, as with other carts you never know when they are going to run out. The ex series carts also hold a lot more e-liquid than the regular carts, which means you get a lot more puffs out of one cartridge (roughly double the V2 normal carts). We were incredibly impressed with these carts as they are completely innovative and allow for more puffs. The window to show the e-liquid level is a great feature as well.
The Ex series is incredibly easy to use and the carts do not need priming at all. You can start vaping straight away. We also found the flavour was more pronounced as the carts are tank like and therefore you get more of a flavour coming through when compared to normal carts. There was no leakages or juice leaking anywhere, due to the air tight seal on them.
Battery life is usually one area mini e-cigarettes struggle in. However, the ex series really holds its own in this area. The battery is 280mAh and 4.2Volts, which means it has a decent amount of power to it. The battery is slightly larger than some of the smallest minis, like the JAC VIP and the Epuffer Magnum snaps, but the battery life is therefore a lot better. We got around 450 puffs out of one battery which is a lot better than the majority of other mini batteries. But the best part is the battery life indicator that shows you how much battery life is remaining. I can’t tell you how useful this is, as it takes away the guesswork when vaping on the minis. You now know exactly how much you have left and whether or not you should take another battery with you or not. This was an outstanding feature!
The battery produced outstanding amounts of vapour for a mini e-cig and you get a really good throat hit. The flavour on the new style carts was tasty and much better than the old ones. On the UK site the carts come in either menthol or red tobacco and come in a range of nicotine levels. The US site also has Sahara, Congress, Peppermint and Green Tea Menthol.
The only area where I could see an improvement is having a greater selection of flavours for the carts on the UK site. Refillable carts would also be a great addition to the ex series range as currently they are not refillable. One way to get around the refill issue, is to purchase the ex blank mini tanks. These are mini clearomizers that fit perfectly on the tanks. You can refill these with any e-liquid and they vape really well. I would definitely recommend getting some of these, as we loved them. The sit nicely on the ex battery and turn it into a mini ego electronic cigarette!
Overall we were incredibly impressed with the V2 ex series. We have named it our best e-cigarette starter kit in 2016 and it is the best electronic cigarette we have tried to date (we have tried many)! Its innovative features like the tank like carts and the battery life meter, make it a step up from other models we have tried.
TIP: To save money on the ex series carts, V2 offers 80 packs, which when bought in bulk save you money per cart. You can choose different flavours as well.
Can I use other brands of vape oils with the V2 EX??
