VaporFi is one of those brands that you have heard of, but might not know a lot about. They have been in the vape game for a while now but are not well-known for their e-liquid. Today we take a look at one of their newest line entitled Grand Reserve, formulated for sub ohm vaping.
They are each a 70/30 VG to PG ratio and the flavors are all “chef-inspired”, and not just your typical fruity or dessert flavor. These e-liquids are a little bit more complex than that. VaporFi sent us eight bottles so let’s crack ‘em open and see what Grand Reserve is all about….
Not what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. When I read the word frost, I was thinking it would be a tropical menthol, which sounded pretty nasty actually. To my surprise this juice was light and refreshing, with juxtaposed flavors somehow working together in perfect harmony.
VaporFi describes Island Frost as pineapple and coconut with champagne-infused blueberries (I didn’t even know that was a thing), muddled mint (whatever that is) and lime garnish. The mint is definitely muddled a lot because this ain’t no menthol flavor but it is a breath of fresh air.
I love pineapple flavors, when they are done right. Pineapple Pow packs a pineapple-punch with a hint of watermelon and hibiscus. That is pretty unique compared to your everyday strawberry creams. I definitely get that sweet tanginess I love about pineapple with the coolness of melon.
VaporFi describes the hibiscus as “sensual”, which I can’t argue with. This is a delicious juice and the melon is very subtle, leaving almost no aftertaste. Pineapple Pow is a nice change of pace from your typical pineapple vape. I found it also mixes very nicely with Island Frost.
As soon as I saw Havana, the capital of Cuba, I thought of cigars. Americans only know two things about Cuba, cigars and Scarface. This flavor is supposed to taste like a cigar combined with sweet caramel and coconut cream. It really tastes like tobacco with an extra sweet finish.
I was never a huge fan of cigars but if you were, then you might want to throw this in an e-cigar and call it a day. I’m impressed how much Havana Beach actually tastes like real tobacco. It is a little bit on the sweet side, but just like a real cuban, I would enjoy this stuff once in a blue moon.
When I first read the name I was thrown off a bit because I immediate thought of “Tang” the popular instant orange drink. This is not anything close to that, it is actually a donut with lemon meringue custard, which sounds delicious. I am tasting donuts with a creamy lemon exhale.
Ruthless’ Glazed Donuts e-liquid has been one of my favorite e-liquids lately because there just aren’t any other donut flavors that even come close to replicating that freshly baked donut taste. Meringue O Tang is on par with Loaded, and takes it even a step further with the lemon custard.
Cloud Candy is one for the candy lovers, obviously. It is supposed to taste like a handful of gummy bears, mixed with cotton candy. The flavors that VaporFi uses to spice this one up are pomegranate and lemon-lime, adding some freshness to the mix without making it too sweet.
I have tried quite a few cotton candy flavors from a few different brands. Cloud Candy stands on its own as a unique take on cotton candy, combining it with the fruitiness of gummy candy. The name sums it up perfectly because you’re going to be blowing clouds that smell just like candy.
This is a juice that contains exotic fruits such as melon, honeydew, jackfruit, papaya and guava, combined with an icy blast of menthol. Unlike Island Frost, this one is a true menthol flavor, not just a liquid with a slight hint of mint. If you love menthol and want something fruity, here it is!
This is not my cup of tea, however Maui Menthol tastes real clean and isn’t too sweet. The menthol is well balanced, and isn’t too harsh or strong. Watermelon ice is a very popular flavor and Maui Menthol is a fresh take on it. Now menthol lovers can get in on the fruity flavors too!
This one is definitely chef-inspired. Rainbow custard mixes the taste of strawberry, tangerines and cream anglaise to make a thick, custardy flavor with a fruity aftertaste. If you are looking for a creamy and rich juice, but still want that sweet fruitiness, then definitely try Rainbow Custard.
I personally was not a fan of this particular combination of fruits and custard, but since the Grand Reserve line tries to accommodate a large range of vapers, not every flavor is going to be for everyone. I prefer to keep my custards and fruits separate, but taste is subjective….
I’m already thinking about taking points off for the name, these e-liquid puns need to stop. Just kidding, a good corny joke is like a latte, good to have once in a while. The flavors in this one are steamed milk, espresso, caramel and a bit of hazelnut. I can’t wait to crack this one open.
Catch Ya Lattee has won VaporFi an award in 2015 for Best in Show in the coffee flavor category. After trying it, I can understand why. The caramel and authentic espresso taste is rounded off with the nutty richness of hazelnut. There is no caffeine in it, but it is addictive!
When I am testing e-liquids, I am aware that not every flavor is going to meet my personal profile, but you can still get an overall idea of how the stuff vapes. Even the flavors that didn’t meet my personal preference were still pleasant and enjoyable without any bad aftertaste.
These liquids are all real clean, they didn’t mess up my cotton or coils one bit. They are well packaged and come in classy bottles with golden stripes on them. Overall Grand Reserve is a fantastic line of eight unique and fresh-tasting e-liquids with a little something for everyone!
