Vandy Vape Pulse BF 80W Preview | A Regulated Squonk Mod for Everyone

The Pulse BF 80W just got cheaper, but at what cost?

Pulse BF 80w Intro

Vandy Vape and Tony B have another collaboration coming your way. This one happens to be one of the most promising projects of late; an 80-watt regulated Pulse BF box mod. After an unexpected turn of events, the regulated Pulse squonk mod will not be housing the Gene chip as was initially announced, but a proprietary Vandy Vape chip.

The Vandy Vape chip has been in the works ever since the original Pulse BF mechanical box came out and was promoted from Plan B to Plan A after VOOPOO refused to provide their Gene chips to Vandy Vape.

Upgrading a best-seller

The Pulse BF 80W will have an updated squonk bottle with 7-8 mL capacity and will come in four different color options for the front and back panels (three resin and one carbon fiber) – this is Vandy Vape, so we can expect more colors down the road.

The package will also include a 30 mL silicon refill bottle, used to fill your squonk bottle through the device’s 510 connection. The refill bottle will be insulated to avoid shorting the connection. As a proud owner of a couple of these refill bottles for the original Pulse BF, I can ensure you that you will appreciate not having to remove your squonk bottle when you are out and about.

The Pulse BF 80W will come with a lower price tag than its originally announced $60-$75

As with the original Pulse BF, you will be able to fit 20700s as well as 18650s with the included adapter. The box will be made out of the same nylon material reinforced with some fiberglass to make it even more durable. But unfortunately, the back and front panels will not be interchangeable between the two. And the regulated Pulse will be a tiny bit bigger due to the inclusion of the chip. Housing a chip always requires a bit of space so this will be a small (and expected) trade-off for all fans of regulated squonk mods.

The Pulse BF 80W will come with a lower price tag than its originally announced $60-$75 after the Gene chip was removed from the equation. Vendors will be refunding the price difference to customers who had pre-ordered it. According to Vandy Vape, the latest developments have not delayed the planned shipping dates by much, as retailers should start receiving their orders in the following weeks. Will the Pulse BF 80W still be a win without the Gene chip? What do you think?

My first attempt at vaping came back in 2009 on some of the first cigalikes to ever reach Europe. A couple of attempts -- and vaping tech generations later -- I managed to quit smoking in 2016, and have since then developed somewhat of an obsession with all things vaping. When I am not consuming vape reviews I am either tinkering my NBA fantasy teams or playing board games with friends.
