Goliath V2 Intro
Lately, we have been seeing a lot of Sub-Ohm tanks being released. It seems as if Sub-Ohming has become the gold standard for many vapers. I remember only a few years ago, when I started getting into vaping, if you wanted a rebuildable tank, you would have to spend tons of money on a Kayfun-style atomizer. Today, RTA’s, or rebuildable tank atomizers, are becoming all the rage. Rebuilding can save you some money and give you a more customized vape. Another advantage is that if you want to change a flavors, you can just give your tank a quick rinse, swap out your cotton and you’re good to go! One of my issues with tanks such as the Nautilus was that no matter how much you rinse it out, the bottom rubber insulator is nearly impossible to fully clean. You are left with a slight aftertaste from the last flavor(s) you used. This is now a thing of the past!
In addition to that, due to the popularity of these Sub-Ohm products, the prices have gone way down! I remember when you had to spend over $100 for a Kayfun, but now RTA’s are way more affordable, due to the competition. Youde technologies seems to be one of the leaders in this new world of Sub-Ohm rebuildable tanks. The Goliath V1 was highly praised, despite a few issues that I am hoping have been resolved in the V2. I want to start by saying that these type of products are not for your beginner vapers. There is definitely a learning curve involved with these devices.
Today, we are going to be looking at the highly-anticipated Goliath V2. I will be completely honest with you, it was not love at first sight, but eventually it grew on me. At first, it felt more like an uphill battle between me (Dave) and Goliath. (Sorry, had to throw that in.) Anyways, just as the story goes, I won. I’m actually getting a great vape out this thing after overcoming all of the obstacles. There was definitely some blood, sweat and tears involved in my initial encounter with this beast. However, at the end of the day, this is a badass tank that blows massive clouds of delicious flavor.

Ok, so the first thing I did when I got this product was popped in one of the stock ROCC coil heads. I don’t know what that stands for but I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with Rocawear. Anyway, the flavor was kinda funky and I could not understand why. To make a long story short, the thing was drenched in machine oil! Once I gave it a good rinse, the flavor was on point! When wicked properly, this tank can handle pretty much any juice, which I put to the test with some max VG liquid. I was able to fill up my whole lungs without ever getting a hint of a dry or burnt taste!
Like most Sub-Ohm tanks, the vapor production on this device is huge and yet I was still quite impressed by the huge, thick, white plumes that I was exhaling. With a .3 Ohm build installed, I was getting nearly the same amount of vapor that you would get from a dripping atomizer!
Unfortunately, this was not the most well-machined product I have seen. The threads are decent but taking it apart is not an easy task. I literally cut myself trying to pry this thing open, twice. In fact, as I am writing this, I decided to refill my tank since I was running low. It was a pain in the ass to get this thing open plus I lost some of my favorite juice in the process. I ended up having to take the entire device apart and put it back together in order to fill it up. If you are going to open this up, it helps to have some vape bands, paper towels and bandages handy, in case you cut yourself.
The Goliath V2 looks awesome, and even better than the V1, in my humble opinion. Every part of the tank is 22mm so it doesn’t have anything protruding like the first one did. I took this tank with me to a concert recently and it seems as though every single vaper had their eyes glued to it. I’ve always liked the way the original Atlantis by Aspire looks and this tank definitely has a similar look about it. I love the way “Goliath II” is engraved on the bottom and right near your juice flow control and you have the classic Goliath “lifeline” to indicate whether you are closing or opening up your juice channel. It also comes with extra O-rings so that you can customize the look of your tank. I personally am not a fan of Red or Blue rings but I think it is cool that they give you that option at least. Honestly I would have liked to see more interesting colors such as pink, lime green or black.
The Goliath V2 has two big air slots that provides a great amount of airflow when wide open, in my opinion. It can be a little bit difficult to adjust without unscrewing the device but once again vape bands will be your best friend with this tank. Once adjusted, that thing ain’t’ going nowhere.
Something new in the Version 2 is the fact that now Youde includes a little silicon plug to allow you to build in single-coil mode. I have been enjoying the double-coil action on this thing at .3 Ohms, my sweet spot. The Goliath RBA section has two solid stainless steel posts with holes big enough to accommodate even the craziest, twisted, claptonized wire you can possibly find. If you are used to building on a two-post deck, which can be a little tough at first, then you will enjoy this RTA. Wicking can also take time to get used to but when done right, you do get a fantastic vape!
- Looks beautiful (Very Atlantis-esque; simple yet sexy)
- 5ML Capacity (Great, considering this thing is a gas-guzzler)
- Great value for price ($39.99)
- Huge vapor production and flavor
- Uses Phillips-head screws (Doesn’t come with another little blue screwdriver, don’t worry)
- Airflow for days
- Extra colored O-rings for further customization
- Compatible with ROCC coil-heads
- Spiral drip-tip and chimney design (Enhances flavor and vapor somehow)
- Difficult taking apart to fill (See update below)
- Soaked in machine oil (Must rinse before using)
- Juice-fill holes are kinda small
- Airflow is hard to adjust
- Sharp edges that can cut (Be careful!)
- Wicking takes time getting used to
Update: I found that if you take off the black O-ring that is found on the base of the Goliath V2 and replace it with a smaller, thinner, O-ring that they can be found in the box, it becomes way easier to open and close! This makes the Goliath V2 way better!
Overall score – 7.5 out of 10
So overall, despite all of the cons, the Goliath V2 is still a solid RTA. Now I understand why so many people loved the Version 1. I know a lot of people are still waiting for this product to arrive in the mail, but I can assure you it will be worth the wait. No doubt there is a bit of a learning curve with this device, even when using the coil-heads, but once you get it, life is good. The flavor and vapor production on this thing can hang with some of the best tanks on the market right now! If you enjoy building and need something on-the-go, then the Goliath V2 just might be right for you.
Update: Received a package of Youde ROCC “Heater Cores” to review for you guys. I know, all these letters and words are much too confusing. All it means is Replaceable Organic Cotton Ceramic .2 Ohm coil heads. Also available in Nickel, these coil heads are specifically just for the Youde Goliath V2 RTA to use instead of the RBA base. They are also dual coils, which means you are going to get bigger cloud production. They are also packed with Koh Gen Do Japanese organic cotton so you know the flavor is on point. I personally feel that this type of cotton does have a little bit of a break-in period, compared to Cotton Bacon, which I am a big proponent of. I would like to see a company make a deal with Wick ‘n Vape to put that stuff in a coil head but then again that is why I love RTA’s. I can use whatever I want, whenever I want. In any case, I digress.
These coil heads do chuck clouds like nobody’s business with minimal to zero spit-back. Just smooth flavor and clouds. It literally hits the same way it would if I were using my own .2 ohm build, wicked perfectly. Most RTA’s can be a little bit tricky to wick at first so these are perfect for when you just don’t have the time, or simply don’t feel like building. I also like how the coils are spaced out, because although they are stuffed to the brim with cotton, you will not get a dry or burnt hit unless your tank is running low. Even then, the cotton will retain most of that juice and will essentially hit like a dripper until it is bone dry. These heads provide a flawless, smooth vape with great flavor and massive vapor production. The Goliath stands up to not only some the best RTA’s, but now to any Sub Ohm tank. I am a big fan of this tank and so far these heads have lasted over a week and still are going strong. You can probably get 3-4 weeks out of each one.
