Reuleaux RX300 Preview | Pushing the Bounds

Today we give you a sneak peak at the latest mod from Wismec and JayBo, the RX300, which is a quad-cell mod based off the popularity of the RX200.

Reuleaux RX300 Intro

If you have been vaping for a while, chances are you either have a Reuleaux RX200, or know somebody who does. It has quite literally become the mod that everyone and their mother owns. If you thought you weren’t going to see innovation from Jaybo and Wismec, think again.

Many of these companies have been many steps ahead of us, plotting their next moves months in advance before the August 8th, 2016 FDA “cut-off date” for new vapor products.

Battery life for days

The Reuleaux sort of set the standard for triple cell mods and now Wismec is taking it a step further on the RX300 (not to be confused with the Lexus SUV) with quad cell capacity! This seems to be the move that many vapers and manufacturers will be making in the new year.

2016 has been the year of the RTA, but 2017 seems like it will be all about that battery life.

Of course this will also change the signature diamond-shaped design that made its predecessor stand out from the pack. Let’s take a look and see what else they have done with the RX300….

Different man, but the same, ya know?

The Reuleaux RX300 now has the option of customizable stickers, so you can get a more personalized look. One of the biggest issues in the beginning with the RX200 was the limited color selection. Now you can have the same mod as everyone else and still stand out.

The Reuleaux RX300 is available in silver, silver carbon fiber, black and black carbon fiber. I have always been a huge fan of the way carbon fiber looks on most mods so I am all about it. The decorative stickers are currently available in black or brown.

The title of this section was blatantly ripped from Cheech and Chong’s “Up in Smoke”.

What else did they improve?

The RX300 has a new feature for the batteries which includes a door that locks by a switch and is extremely easy to use. The new Reuleaux also has a dual circuit protection for extra safety and reliability. It also has a 0.96 inch OLED screen with separate indicators for each 18650 cell.

It still does temperature control like the original, and now has a preheat function, upgradeable firmware and custom logos. Another new feature is the ability to use the RX300 as a power bank. I am glad to see Wismec bringing back one of my favorite features from the good old Innokin MVP’s.

Another great improvement on the new Realeaux RX300 is now a spring-loaded 510 pin. This is music to the ears of the many vapers that were having issues with RX200’s 510 pin in the past.

Other notable features include 1.5 Amp charging and last but not least, it goes up to 300 Watts! I remember back in the day when cloud chasing needed to be done with mechanical mods. Well, those days are long gone. 300W should be more than enough to blow colossal clouds.

It also fires as low as .05, although there is no reason why anyone should ever vape that low unless your name is Big Lou, or you really, really, really know what you are doing. Vape safe!

So… I guess I’ll go first. Didja ever have one of those Christmas mornings where you’d asked Santa for the coolest new toy in the world, and when he delivered, it wound up being “just okay”?Well… I’ve had my RX300 for 3 days now, and that’s kinda where I’m at with it. I’m 6’4″ & 325 Lbs. I like big stuff. The size of a quad cell mod didn’t scare me at all… especially considering that ergonomics has become a consideration to which most manufacturers give a lot of thought. With it’s substantial weight, and tightly radiused corners… this thing is about as ergonomic as a fired clay brick! In my mind… this is the definitive “desktop mod”. You’ll be setting it down after each use as opposed to casually caressing it while watching movies, hangin’ with friends, or whatever. It’s easy to see why Smok and iJoy/Limitless chose to stagger the batteries in their new quad cell offerings, instead of using the straight up 2×2 configuration that Wismec did. Odds are, it’s not going to fit in most pockets, and you wouldn’t want it to anyway (unless you need help getting your pant’s around your ankles)! I love the new GUI. It looks great, and navigation is simple, familiar, and performs as well as I’ve come to expect from the Reuleaux RX series. Overall quality of construction has taken a step up from it’s predecessors. I wouldn’t hesitate to confidently bash a skull in with it, knowing that I could still enjoy a good cloud after doing so! Now, on to battery life (which is why I believe most folks would be considering a quad cell). This poor fella has the misfortune of going up against the new Ijoy/Limitless LUX that I’d acquired 2 days prior. The LUX, outfitted with the 2 new iJoy 26650s that came with it (rated at 4200mah, and presumed to be re-wraps), outlasted the RX300 with 4 brand new LG HG2s. I took each of them through a “normal” day, switching back & forth between a TFV8 (fitted with a V8-T6 coil) running 115 watts, and a CCI Triforce (fitted with their .5ohm coil) running 70 watts. The LUX still had power when I went to bed. Batteries for the RX300 went back on the charger a couple hours before I went to bed. I’m not a scientist. THAT is a real-world test, and the only result that I really care about. If you collect mods, are a Wismec/Reuleaux fan, are looking for a helluva desktop mod, or need to inflict some blunt force trauma… ya gotta get one. But if you’re looking for long battery life without sacrificing portability… I’ll urge you to look at Smok’s new GX350, or the LUX, Maxo Quad, or EXO from iJoy/Limitless.

And with it being Wismec, theres gonna be an update that gives it 350 watts! You just know it!
