Halo is a name that has been around since the beginning, best known for making e-liquid and e-cigs. Now they are stepping into the vape game with their very own sub ohm tank called the Reactor Shorty. Let’s see how it compares to the other sub ohm tanks already on the market.
The Halo Reactor Shorty is geared towards beginner vapers and is available in a complete kit. It is important to start with a good setup, especially when transitioning from cigarettes. Let’s find out if the flavor and vapor production is good enough to satisfy a seasoned vaper like myself….
I know, another sub ohm tank? I give Halo credit for jumping into the sub ohm tank game at this point, considering how much competition is out there. It looks, exactly how I would expect a sub ohm tank to look, nothing special. I’m more concerned about flavor and whether it leaks or not.
The Reactor Shorty comes with .5 ohm coils, but they also sent me some 1.5 ohm coils to try. I am curious to see how they will perform with those when I close off the airflow and lower the wattage. Ok, time to fill this badboy up with some juice and see what the Reactor Shorty can do.
The .5 ohm coils are pretty much identical to the ones you would find on the Aspire Atlantis V2. I am getting nice big clouds and decent flavor. So far I haven’t experienced any leaking at all. The top fill was very easy to use, which is good because you are going to be filling this thing often.
With the 1.5 ohm coils, I was able to get a nice MTL draw at about 40W with the airflow closed off. The Reactor Shorty has proven to be a versatile tank by satisfying both the lung hitters and mouth the lung vapers in one tank.
I like the airflow settings on the Reactor Shorty. You can actually get a nice MTL draw with the 1.5 ohm coils at around 35W. Then you can crank it wide open and get more than enough airflow for sub ohm vaping. I would recommend doing that using the .5 ohm coil heads.
One thing sub ohm tanks are not very good for is MTL vaping. Not the Reactor Shorty! I think it is cool that Halo was able to create a tank that satisfies the entire spectrum of vapers. There are also .25 ohm coils available for the people who want to crank it up and blow massive clouds.
When I started vaping, you used to have to figure out which tank worked with which mod. If you didn’t have a good vape shop, which there were not many around, then you were screwed. Now you can just buy a kit like the Reactor Shorty and get everything you need to get started ASAP.
If you are an experienced vaper who wants to spread the love of vaping for the holidays, this is a nice little sub ohm tank. It delivers good flavor and has not leaked on me yet, which is what makes it such a solid performer. Halo proudly signs off on this tank and now I totally understand why.
Nice!!!!! Thank you for sharing with us!!!!
This little mod was my first vape and I loved it! Your review is pretty accurate and I can’t add to it, although I kind of like the dieselpunk styling. I liked how the battery was removable, so I could swap in another one and I was never faced with a dead battery problem. After 8 months, I graduated to an Aegis Legend 200w mod but I will always love my little Halo.
