Rashomon RDA Intro
Just when you thought we wouldn’t see any new innovation in 2016, think again. Today we are going to take a look at a rebuildable dripping atomizer that can’t go without mention. It is called the Rashomon by Hop N Vape, and people are loving it so far. Let’s find out what makes it so awesome.
The thing with RDA’s, and vape gear in general, is that they are often so similar. However, it is those minor differences that make them special to us. The Rashomon seems to squeeze many of our favorite features into a well-built RDA, and the best part, it has a reasonable price-tag.
Let’s be honest, with rebuildable dripping atomizers, you can literally live like a king for $50-$60. Just get yourself a Goon, Twisted Messes, or Subzero RDA and call it a day. However if you don’t want to spend that much, I would suggest a Tsunami or Troll for literally half the price.
Will the Rashomon become the go-to RDA for aspiring drippers and people who want a great performing atomizer that won’t put them in debt?

Hit the deck
The Rashomon has a lot going on for a $30 device. First things first, the deck is not velocity style, but it is still designed with ergonomics in mind. It features a two-post design with holes that are offset in a way to make centering your coils easier, reminiscent of the Recoil RDA.
I just don’t understand why every RDA doesn’t come standard with a Velocity-style deck at this point, however, at the end of the day, I just love the way these RDA’s perform. and I’ve been building before the Velocity deck even existed, so it really doesn’t bother this OG builder.
"But wait... there’s more!"
Let’s talk about bottom airflow for a second. Whether you have a $20 Tsunami, or a $100 Kennedy, the laws of gravity remain constant. In other words, when you have a big-ass hole underneath your coils, there is always a chance of leakage, especially if you over-drip, the Rashomon is no exception.
That being said, some RDA’s with bottom airflow tend to leak more than others. Also if you are a precise dripper that doesn’t just dump 1 mL of juice into your drip tip, then you should be alright. If you position your coils high enough, and use enough cotton, it’s not really a huge issue.
The Rashomon also comes with a squonk-pin so you can use it with your favorite squonk setup.
Much like the Kennedy RDA, the Rashomon does NOT have the option for adjustable airflow. If you don’t enjoy taking wide-open lung hits, you might want to consider another RDA
The Rashomon RDA has a bunch of other stuff going on such as a single coil option, a 510 drip tip adapter and a 7 mm deep juice well. The overall quality of the device looks pristine from what I have seen so far, although I haven’t personally gotten my hands on one yet.
Who is the Rashomon for?
If you are thinking about getting into dripping, but don’t want to spend $50-$60 for one of the top RDA’s on the market right now, then check out the Rashomon. It brings all of the great features that we know and love from the best devices of 2016, in one package for a reasonable price.
Let’s say you already own a good RDA, like myself, but just want another one to mess around with. This would be a nice device to have as a companion to your other more expensive RDA’s, without really having to sacrifice the quality of vape that you are accustomed to. I’m digging it….
