Hit the Road! The Right To Vape Tour Gets Rolling

The cross-country vaping rights tour is underway. Stay tuned to Vaping360 for news and updates along the way!

The Right To Vape Tour has hit the road and may be coming to a town near you soon! The cross-country advocacy road show has a series of stops scheduled already, and others are still being finalized.

Between the two coasts, the Right To Vape coalition — the American Vaping Association, CASAA, and SFATA — will hold a series of rallies, press conferences, and town hall meetings. The goal is to convince Congress to end the FDA’s war on vaping, by changing the 2007 predicate date in the recently enacted deeming regulations.

All the Right To Vape Tour events are free to attend, and most are open to all, but registering on the website and RSVPing may get you a free meal and other goodies, so we recommend it. There’s a link in this story to register or RSVP for each event.

    Las Vegas

The first event was held Sunday in Las Vegas, where a good-sized crowd of vapers turned out for rousing speeches from advocates and U.S. House candidate Danny Tarkanian, who is running to fill the seat of pro-vaping Rep. Joe Heck (who is running for the senate himself). Nevada vapers should get involved and support these two vaping-friendly candidates for Congress!

The Nevada Vaping Association took part in the first rally, as did Kat York and Deanna Thompson from tour sponsors Boosted E-Juice and Not Blowing Smoke.

    This week: the west coast

Southern California: Prop. 56 is just a month away!

The tour bus will head west for a vaper voter day of action Tuesday, Oct. 4, at United Vapes in Santee, CA (just northeast of San Diego). Rep. Duncan Hunter will be in attendance there. (This event requires an RSVP to attend. It isn’t open to walk-ins.)

Most of the west coast events will feature speakers Gregory Conley of the AVA, Julie Woessner and Alex Clark of CASAA, Pamela Gorman of SFATA, and Paul Blair — a dream team of advocates guaranteed to fire up any crowd of vapers.

California vapers need to get energized now to get registered to vote and get to the polls on Nov. 8. The ballot includes Proposition 56, which would place a 70 percent or higher tax on all vaper products sold in the state.

Vapers have to get serious about spreading the word and getting friends and family members educated and to the election. If we don’t mobilize now, very few vape shops and manufacturers will survive the crushing burden of this ridiculous tax.

Northern California: it's time to act!

The tour continues to NorCal Vape in Redding on Wednesday, Oct. 5 for a lunch and advocacy day of action. Kari Hess, owner of NorCal Vape and co-president of the Northern California SFATA chapter, will also speak at this event. Be sure to RSVP for this tour stop — all who do get a free RTV Tour t-shirt!

    Portland, Oregon

On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Right To Vape Tour crosses into Oregon for an advocacy rally in Portland at Division Vapor. Go online and RSVP for this event, and you’ll grab a t-shirt and dinner.

    Seattle/Tacoma, Washington

The tour heads to Washington for a rally at The Vaporium in Fife (just outside of Tacoma) on Friday, Oct.7. Vaporium owner Kim Thompson will be speaking at the event. Thompson is president of the Pink Lung Brigade, one of the most effective (and best named!) state associations in the country.

At the Washington tour stop, video testimonials from vapers will be recorded. Please, come to the event and tell your story! And early registration gets you the coolest t-shirt in vaping too.

    Make a slooooow right turn

    Boise, Idaho

The tour heads east with a stop at the Julia Davis Park Pavilion in Boise on Sunday, Oct.9. Be sure to register and RSVP to join the lunch!

    Billings, Montana

uBlaze Vapor in Billings will host a tour stop on Tuesday, Oct. 11. This is an important stop, since Oct. 11 is the last day for Montana citizens to register to vote by mail. The RTV Tour staff will have plenty of registration materials on hand, along with raffle prizes and giveaways. This is a great way to get your politically unaware vaping friends involved!

    Points east

From Billings, the tour continues east. There are a couple of dates confirmed — in Green Bay, WI, and Indianapolis, IN. But others will be added soon. Follow the tour on its Facebook page, and stay tuned here. Vaping360 will be posting updated stories, along with pics and videos from the events, throughout the month.

And if you’re on the highway, keep your eyes peeled for a 37-foot RV trailing a cloud of vapor!

Smokers created vaping without any help from the tobacco industry or anti-smoking crusaders, and vapers have the right to keep innovating to help themselves. My goal is to provide clear, honest information about the challenges vaping faces from lawmakers, regulators, and brokers of disinformation. I recently joined the CASAA board, but my opinions aren’t necessarily CASAA’s, and vice versa. You can find me on Twitter @whycherrywhy
