Vaporfi Rebel II Intro

Vaporfi are a US producer of high quality upmarket electronic cigarettes. They produce an extensive range of e-cigarettes ranging from minis to egos all the way up to its most powerful model – the Vox 50 Mod. They also produce some very nice tasting US made e-liquids and have a custom blend section where you can create your own mixes! Vaporfi’s customer service is second to none in the e-cig world, with a 30 day money back guarantee and a 1 year warranty on the Vaporfi Rebel II, and 90 days for most other products.

They also deliver all across the world including the UK and EU. Delivery took a little over a week to get to us in Germany.

Today we are very excited to review the brand new VaporFi Rebel II (Rebel 2)! The VaporFi Rebel II is a very powerful and customizable electronic cigarette and was launched a couple of weeks ago. It probably falls into the APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizer) category, but don’t let that scare you off, as it is really easy to use.

We have kindly been sent the Rebel II by our friends at VaporFi and today we will be taking an in depth look to see how it performs. We will also be following up with a Youtube review later this weekend, so you can see the Rebel II in action!

Notable Remarks

Vaporfi Rebel II
Vaporfi Rebel II

The Vaporfi Rebel II comes in a clean looking stainless steel finish. It also features a great looking tank on top, which looks similar to the Aspire Nautilus (best clearomizer in 2014). Overall the whole Rebel II looks and feels like a really high quality device.

The Rebel II features an LED screen on the battery compartment, which shows either the wattage or voltage you are using. To switch between the two, you need to hold the up and down buttons together, where Po shows the wattage and Vo the voltage. The buttons and screen both work well and are easy to navigate.

When using the bigger 2800mAh battery in the Rebel II, it is as you would expect, fairly large and heavy, but not more so than other similar APVs. We really liked that the kit comes with a second smaller 750 mAh battery, which you can use to make it smaller and lighter. This is great for those who want something slightly smaller. We however, prefer the larger battery, as when you buy an APV, size and weight isn’t an issue for us.

The tank on the Vaporfi Rebel II allows users to alter both the airflow and the juice flow! We really loved these two features, as you can set the tank up to create your own unique vaping experience. Put this together with the Rebel’s variable voltage and you’ve got the ultimate vaping set-up.

Overall we cannot really fault the Vaporfi Rebel II design wise. Some people might not like its size and weight but this is really up to personal preference and you do have the option of the smaller battery if you want something smaller. If APVs aren’t your thing and you are looking for something a bit smaller and less powerful, check out the Vaporfi Rocket. If APVs are your thing then the Rebel II is a great choice.

Vapor Production and Throat Hit

Vaporfi Rebel II Tank

As the Vaporfi Rebel II has a massive 2800mAh battery with the voltage going up to 6V, it can produce huge clouds of vapor. The good thing is you can choose the voltage or wattage that best suits you. We have been using it on 4.6V and the vape production and throat hit has been immense. Even on the smaller battery, it still performed tremendously well.

Battery Life

The 2800mAh battery when used on a reasonable voltage or wattage will last days. We have been using the Rebel II for 2 days now, on 4.6V, and still have not needed to charge it. The great thing with the Rebel kit, is that Vaporfi provide you with an extra smaller battery, so if the big one runs out you can just put in the smaller one. The Rebel 2 kit also comes with a battery charger which can be plugged into the wall and which fits both of the batteries.

Vaporfi Rebel II vs. Rocket
Vaporfi Rebel II vs. Rocket

The Vaporfi Rebel II starter kit costs $179.99, which is the same price as the old Rebel kit. However the Rebel II is a much improved kit with a much better tank. I know some people complained about the tank on the first Rebel and it is great to see Vaporfi taking that feedback in and fitting the Rebel II with a much improved tank. At $179.99 the Vaporfi Rebel it isn’t cheap and is priced at the higher end of the market. Use our coupon code at the top of the page to save you $22 on the Rebel II, which makes it more affordable. You do though get some impressive hardware and two batteries with a 30 day money back guarantee and impressive one year warranty! All Vaporfi products we have tried have been of the highest quality and the same can be said of the Rebel II. Whilst it is slightly pricey, you definitely won’t regret your choice if you purchase the Rebel II starter kit.

  • Variable voltage
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Adjustable juice flow
  • Two different sized batteries – 18650 battery and one 18350 high-power battery
  • Tank has a large capacity for e-liquid (4ml)
  • 2.5 Ohm atomizer allowing you to utilize the full wattage or voltage (caution coil burns through faster on higher voltages/wattages)
  • Nice LED screen and buttons for easy use and navigation
  • Battery life is amazing
  • Throat hit and vapor production can be optimised to suit your own preference
  • 1 Year warranty and 30 day money back guarantee

To be honest there is not much to fault with the Rebel II. It is a big improvement from the Rebel I and comes with a better tank and more power. Some people might not like the size and weight associated with APVs and the Rebel II in particular. Personally I think the weight is nice, as it feels like a really high quality piece of kit when you have it in your hand. Some APVs are lighter but that is probably because they are made from slightly cheaper materials.

As mentioned above, the Vaporfi Rebel II is priced at the higher end of the market. For what you get in this kit with the two batteries etc. and its high quality and one year warranty, the price is definitely worth it. Be sure to use our coupon code at the top of the page to save you a massive $22 on the Rebel II!

The only other negative is that the Rebel II starter kit only comes with the one atomizer in the tank. It would have been great if there one or two extra atomizers in the kit. You can get extras but they only come in a 5 pack. It would be nice to have the possibility of purchasing a 2 or 3 pack instead of just the 5 pack.

Recommend Additional Purchases

We would definitely recommend the Vaporfi E-liquids. You can create your own e-liquid mixes which is awesome, so definitely give it a try.

As I mentioned above the kit only comes with 1 atomizer so I would recommend getting the 5 pack of extra atomizers.

We hoped you this review was useful for you. If you have any questions on the Rebel II or on anything else, don’t hesitate to ask in the comments below.

Hi Alex, thank you for this review.Im wonder to know if you can use it with an other tank from a different brand (Lets says kanger subtank for example)?im bit confuse if you can open my mind would be awesome thank you

    • Hi Max. I replied to your comment on the Subtank Nano thread, which should answer your question. Let me know if you need any other help!

    • John Miller

The Kanger subtank rocks and can be used on the Rebel or any device with a 510 connection. I have one paired with an IVP-2 that uses the old batteries from my Rebel II. (two Efest, two AW, and one VaporFi that performs significantly substandard to the others.)

  • Walt Neller

Thanks for the review, well done! what was the wattage set at for this test?

    • @waltneller:disqus Thanks for the kind words! We were using the Rebel II at around 4.4-4.7V, nothing higher than that. Sweetspot for the tank was around 4.6-4.7V for flavor and vapor. Vape on!

      • Walt Neller

Alex, Thanks, based on your review I have ordered one and should have it tomorrow. My main question is what was the wattage set for the test or is the wattage linked to the voltage setting? Thanks

        • @waltneller:disqus
Sorry, I thought you wanted to know the Voltage, my bad. The wattage range we use it at is 11W, 12W max.

  • Danny Campinose

Can I use a 3 ohm atomizer with the rebel 2?

    • I am not sure, I think the max resistance is 2.8 ohm. You might have to ask Vaporfi themselves.

  • John Miller

Fire button has a mind of its own and frequently refuses to fire or decides to fire on its own. DCC atomizers lose all flavor after about a day. I won’t be buying another product from Vaporfi!!!

    • Hey John, I have never had those issues before. Have you tried contacting VaporFi?

      • John Miller

No. I just bought a new device from a company that was more concerned with quality than marketing. My experience with the performance of the Rebel II was not worth the effort to get it working again.

        • John Miller

To sum up my VaporFI experience. I bought a VaporFi Rebel II to replace a Provari I lost at a beer festival. The glass tank that came with the device broke within a couple of days. At the time, VaporFi didn’t offer a replacement tank. I was never impressed with the VaporFi tank and its atomizer so I upgraded to a Nautilus. I noticed the new VaporFi battery significantly under performed the older AW and other batteries I had been rotating with my Provari. The fire button started acting up after a couple of weeks and completely gave out during a trip where I didn’t have access to a backup device. I bought a new box device that was 1/3 the cost of the Rebel with three times its performance and haven’t looked back.
