The Wismec Exo Skeleton has not been recalled [Update]

The Wismec Exo Skeleton ES300 is rumored to be recalled.

The Wismec Exo Skeleton ES300 box mod is catching some heat right now. Recently, a few pictures on social media appeared of different Exo Skeletons that caught fire and melted or were starting to melt. British Ohm Stores on their Facebook page made a post saying the Exo Skeleton has been recalled and if you own one, it should be returned to their store or wherever it was purchased from. Not much longer after that post was made, it was buzzing around the internet that the Exo Skeleton was recalled.

We reached out to Wismec and they said there is no recall.

We will update this post if more information comes to light. But if you currently own a Wismec Exo Skeleton ES300, it would be wise to keep a close eye on it to make sure everything is working properly… especially if you’re pushing the limits of the mod. Hopefully Wismec really looks into these claims instead of dismissing them as user error.

After contacting Wismec about the article we were going to publish regarding the failure of the Exo Skeletons, they said they would make an official statement. We guess this is it. It’s difficult for us to tell if this is an admission of guilt, a total dodge, or if they just missed the issues altogether.

As of June 14 2017, Wismec released an updated firmware V1.02 as the default firmware for the EXO SKELETON ES300. To enhance the safety of your device, please download the latest firmware and upgrade your ES300 by following this link:

I started doing reviews at the end of 2016 bringing a unique amount of data and fair points that has made them grow in popularity. I’m an avid temp control vaper but will vape pretty much any style of vaping. My goal is to bring as much good, fair, and unbiased information to the forefront as i can to aid vapers in making informed decisions to get the best vape for their style. I enjoy helping people really get the most out of their vape and finding their “aha” moment when it all clicks into place.

I have one of these and it has overheated and destroyed itself and it was just sat doing nothing
I am now fighting with the retailer because I don’t want them to send me another one I don’t trust them

    • Anthony Victor

dam shame. still no other response. seems like they want it to blow voer much like the predator

Mine came broken. The USB port is shot and the board looks cooked on the inside. Wismec has gone to shit and it’ll be the last one I buy.

    • Anthony Victor

I don’t blame you at all

Vapordna has completely removed the es300 from their site, and every other US vendor is labeling them as “out of stock” so whether or not Wismec wants to make it a public recall, vendors either have been told to stop selling them, or they have voluntarily removed them from inventory. Smart play on their part. Distance is wise when dealing with a company that doesn’t wanna help itself.

        • Anthony Victor

Yeah every US vendor has decided to pull it. china sites are still selling it though so I think it’s more of the sites themselves caring about it’s customers. If wismec pulled it, no site would sell it

First, I don’t have one of these, didn’t like the looks of them (They looked like a CHEAP, badly made toy) , and now I’m glad I don’t have one.
As a reviewer, and as a consumer, I feel that Wismec, after seeing the proof that there is an issue with these units, should bite the bullet and issue an OFFICAL recall of every last unit, YES, it will be expensive, YES they will get a black eye from it, but right now, it’s all about damage control.
They are one of THE biggest (if not THE biggest) player in the Chinese manufacturing scene, if they’re seen by consumers and regulators alike as responsible people instead of fly by night, take the money and run crooks, then they defuse the situation, if not they give all the anti’s a very large stick with which to beat down ALL vape manufacturers visa vie harsh, draconian consumer protection regulations.
Wismec, get your “Stuff” together, there’s only two ways you can come out of this:
1, smelling like a Rose, IF you do the right thing,
2, smelling (if not buried in) a dung pile,
That’s your choices, for your company’s good and the good of the ENTIRE Vaping industry, I HIGHLY suggest you do the “RIGHT” thing here!

Mine just exploded last night around 4 a.m. Exploded like fireworks almost caused a fire in our apartment.

Girlfriend just called me and told me that her es300 just caught fire and melted down. While she was driving. Thank god she had a bottle of water or this could have been catastrophic.

    • Anthony Victor

      Dam 🙁

All three of the Wismec mods I have owned have broke within a month. No more Wismec mods for me. I really like Jaybo and even though his latest endeavors seem a bit dated I hope he finds a new company to work for before all is lost. Wismec has gone the way of Kanger and Smok… Jaybo/VaperCloudz collab might be nice.

As usual the snowflakes instantly call for recalls and won’t hesitate bc it’s made in China. If this was made in America or anywhere else they would be much more reserved. This whole see look this is what happened without getting into details is for the dumb. I would like more information. What were the circumstances? What batteries did they use? Did they leave the device in the car the whole time so it got hot from the heat before they used it? What atomizer were they using? What coil? More information is needed. Just because 1 person had theirs catch on fire does not mean they are all defective. I’ve seen too many slick people intentionally cause trouble just to be vindictive or vengeful in the vaping world. BTW there are Youtube reviewers saying there has been a recall. Also as usual they give false information.
