Aspire Nautilus X Preview

MTL Vaping Returns: We take a look at the new Nautilus X by Aspire, which promises to be the best mouth-to-lung vape on the market.

Aspire Nautilus X Specs

If you vape, then you have probably owned a Nautilus at some point, whether it be the mini or the original. It was literally a game-changer in the vape industry. It was the first tank that made me realize how great vaping has become. Life was good with my Vivi Nova, or so I thought. Then I tried some Kilo Cereal Milk in a Nautilus Mini. I was hooked from that day on. It was one of those moments where you tell the salesperson, “ring me up”, before you ask the price.

But enough about my experience, I am writing this to talk about the brand new Nautilus X! Yes that is the name of a US Spacecraft, but who cares? It’s the vape industry, nothing is off-limits.

One of the downfalls of the Nautilus series, in my opinion, was the rubber insulator on the bottom hardware. It was non-removable so you couldn’t really take it out to clean like an o-ring. The result was you could never get the previous flavor out, even after putting in a fresh coil. I really hope they have improved this and just went with a standard o-ring insulator but it is hard to tell from the images.

The coils are 1.5 ohms, so I am guessing that it will cater to mouth-to-lung enthusiasts. I am almost surprised they didn’t try and fit eight fused claptons in it, but rather than following the trends, these guys are setting new ones. This is what I’ve always loved about Aspire. I hope this badboy will have a bit more airflow than the original Nautilus, which made a whistling noise even on the highest setting, and the Nautilus Mini. (Just sayin’.)

This tank will also feature “U-Tech”. No that is not a Technical University, it is a new type of coil-technology. From the diagram, there appears to be top-airflow that travels down through one vertical coil, then passes up through the other coil in a U-formation. This is supposed to enhance the flavor, I’m not sure exactly how, but we shall find out. According to Aspire’s website, this technology will soon become the future of micro tanks. We have all heard many companies make bold claims such as that, but this is Aspire we are talking about. They have already changed the game once before with the Nautilus and the Nautilus Mini, not to mention one of the first sub ohm tanks. Who’s to say they can’t do it again?

The Nautilus X will be available in silver, black, gold and a limited edition rainbow. If that is not enough, you will also be able to purchase a spare glass tank that is frosted! I wouldn’t even mind walking around the metallic rainbow one with some frosted glass! Last but not least, I should mention that this device has an extremely low profile, is 22mm in diameter and holds about 2mL of e-liquid, which is even less than the Mini. With the release of the new Pro Tank 4, and now this, it seems like 2014 is making a comeback in a new way.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the Nautilus X. Feel free to share in the comments!

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dave has always had a passion for helping people quit smoking. As a former smoker himself, he knew how hard it could be. As soon as he learned about vaping, he instantly became obsessed with it and helped many people stop smoking. Vaping360 has given Dave a platform to do this on a much larger scale, by educating the public about the wonders of vaping. When Dave is not writing he is either listening to music, performing it, or cruising around on his Penny board.

Finally a tank to replace the old work vape. Had to remove the AFC and bore the holes out of my nauty, hopefully they’ll release a 5mil version.

    • Dave @ Vaping 360

Yea I hope so too. That sounds interesting, so you just have all 4 holes rocking out at once on the Nauty? This one has two slots that are bigger than the biggest air hole. It still is a mouth-to-lung vape, don’t get me wrong, but it has a more satisfying draw for me.

  • Damn. I wanted to enroll at U Tech.

Haha just caught that comment, Ray. Don’t we all, that would be a dream come true.

I just ordered mine and await. Trying to quit smoking, I find that direct lung hits are not helping. Yes, my Crown is unbelievable. Yes, the taste is superior. No, sub ohm vaping doesn’t replicate the smoking rituals I’ve repeated for 40 years.

So, I’ve ordered it and await.

This will be my best chance to quit, hopefully giving me taste, security from leaking in my pocket and an experience that will satisfy.

Nice Barry, we wish you the best of luck. Give us an update when you get it. I am sure you are going to like this tank, they took one of their best and improved it.

I received it and am having trouble finding a sweet spot. The taste is great, but air passage is difficult to adjust on the black device.

I have ruined 3 coils by not remembering how to MTL. At the moment, I have the airway open at it’s smallest, which gives a true cigarette draw.

However, don’t and I repeat don’t take 3 puffs in a row. I overwhelmed my coils and can’t get the bad taste out. Also, I am not sure if exposing the side of the coil, partially contributed to the failures.

        • Dave @ Vaping 360

Hey Barry, yes I can attest to that as well. On the black device, the air holes are crazy hidden. I am sorry to hear about the coils, my recommendation is to definitely stay at 20W or lower and as you said, don’t hit it like a sub ohm tank, or you are going to run into some issues. Other than that, enjoy that Nautilus, man!

          • Barry Comer

I have to use my bi-focals for the holes.

Yes, it was my fault and have since, changed coils and have had no issues.

            Very nice vape.

“Just sayin” what? WTF ARE YOU “JUST SAYING?”

Bought it a few days ago and am very impressed. Great flavour and just what you’d expect from a mtl the tank in regards to vapour production. Big fan. I was looking for something tiny for stealth vaping at festivals and just out in public and decided on this and a Pico (nothing like hauling a reuleaux dna 200 and tfv4 in your pocket!). So far no complaints and I’d definitely recommend it.

This tasteless tank sucks!!!!! And was a waste of 40 bucks….. back to a modified Nautilus mini
