Sense Herakles RDA Intro

After making a big hit in 2015 with the Herakles sub-ohm clearomizer tank (followed up by the Herakles Plus clearo tank), Sense made a similar splash early this year with the Herakles RTA series — first the RTA-4, then the RTA-2, and most recently the Mini-RTA.

Now Sense has entered the RDA market with two Herakles RDAs — a 22 mm RDA and an identical but larger 24 mm RDA.

Herakles 24 mm RDA Bronze

The vaping marketplace is filled with RDAs — so many new ones come out in a single season that it’s nearly impossible to keep up.

What makes the Sense RDAs notable or different? The spacious Velocity-style build decks that have dual posts with two large-diameter wire traps in each post secured by side hex screws that can handle either dual or quad coil builds are certainly nice, but that’s become standard for current generation RDA. The most meaningful difference that separates the Herakles RDAs from the rest of the crowd is that these are designed in much the same way as sub-ohm tanks and clearomizers, with air flow directed upward from the base underneath the coils that’s regulated by an air intake ring on the base, plus side air flow regulated by turning the top cap. I can’t say that this design is unique, but it’s rare.

Some RDA lovers may not like having a control ring on the base, but that dual-air intake system is extremely effective in providing adjustable air flow to the coils that ranges from totally wide open for high-power cloud chasing to nearly MTL restriction that’s perfect for flavor enhancement.

Herakles 24 mm RDA Deck

RDAs have long been considered the pinnacle of vaping and the easiest way to get the purest vaping experience. Sense has designed both of their Herakles RDAs to compete with the very best.

Some RDAs are primarily suited to massive vapor production. Others are best for flavor chasing. The Herakles RDAs can do both, and with broad and precise adjustability.

Both Herakles RDAs come with a widebore chuff-style drip tip, but each includes an adapter to allow use of a standard user-supplied 510 drip tip. That was a smart decision by Sense.

Both RDAs come in three finishes: black, stainless steel, and rose gold.

Literally hundreds of terrific RDAs are available in every price range. Sense’s Herakles RDAs — in either the 22mm or 24mm diameter versions — can compete effectively with any of them.

Strongly recommended.
