How to Vape CBD Oil Properly and Effectively

If you’re new to vaping CBD, it can seem intimidating and overwhelming at first. You should understand that when people say “vaping CBD oil” they are referring to CBD e-juice specifically designed for vaping, also referred to as CBD vape juice.

Most CBD vape juice is made of food grade ingredients and is safe to consume, but not all CBD oil can be vaped — some products are for oral consumption only. See our guide on what to know before vaping CBD oil, to make sure you’re purchasing the right one. In this guide, we cover the most common ways to vape CBD e-juice and how to do it properly.

Determine your CBD dosage

The first step to vaping CBD properly is knowing how much to vape, and which strength to buy. There are multiple factors that need to be taken into account when determining CBD dosage. This includes body weight, body chemistry and severity of your condition.

See our guide on how to get the right dosage for vaping CBD, based on your personal needs. It is highly recommended that you start with the lowest possible dose and gradually increase in 5 mg intervals as needed.

Choosing your CBD vape

These are the most common devices used to vape CBD vape juice. Some devices are easier to use than others, but you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to vape CBD e-juice, it’s simple. If you feel intimidated at first, just start with the easiest option and work your way up. Disposables, cartridges and pods are the simplest option if you’re new to vaping. Refillable vape pens are slightly more advanced, but more cost effective in the long run.

Disposable CBD vape pens are by far the easiest and most inexpensive entry into vaping CBD oil. They are tiny lightweight cigarette-style pens that are pre-filled with CBD vape juice, powered by a built-in coil and battery. Disposable CBD pens are generally good for a few hundred puffs before you will need to dispose of them.

CBD oil cartridges are slim cylindrical vape tanks that come pre-filled with CBD vape juice or CBD distillate. CBD oil cartridges require a slim e-cig battery or a device compatible with standard 510 cartridges. They typically hold around 0.5 mL to 1 mL of CBD vape juice, and are the second easiest way to vape CBD, next to disposables.

CBD pods are similar to CBD oil cartridges, but with a modern twist. They’re compatible with a JUUL battery, which is one of the most popular vapes on the market today. JUUL users can now easily swap between CBD or nicotine, just by snapping in a JUUL-compatible CBD pod.

Refillable CBD vape pens are rechargeable vape pens that you fill up with your own CBD vape juice. They usually consist of a simple tube-style battery attached to a vape tank with an internal coil. CBD vape pens generally produce more vapor and flavor than disposables, and are more cost effective in the long run. They require some basic maintenance, like changing the coil and keeping the tank clean.

There are also refillable pod vapes that are suitable for use with CBD. They must be able to handle thicker viscosity e-liquids, most CBD vape juice contains 70% VG or more. Some of them may look like the JUUL but they also come in a variety of forms and sizes.

How to vape CBD

First, start by reading the user manual that came with your device to make sure that you’re using it properly. Disposable CBD vapes don’t require any preparation; all you need to do is inhale. They’re draw activated, so you don’t need to push any buttons.

Refillable vape pens, cartridges and pods require a bit more knowledge to operate.

If you currently vape, then transitioning to CBD e-juice will be super easy. You could use your existing vape, or purchase a dedicated setup for vaping CBD. Vaping CBD oil is essentially the same process as vaping nicotine-based e-juice. If you’re new to vaping, see our complete guide to vaping and inhaling. Here are some tips to help you get started.

I want to try vaping CBD using a more traditional MTL method. Im considering the use of Nautilus BVC coils in the Hellvape HellBeast Hybrid tank. Any recommendations regarding this and if the higher .ohm coils (1.6 and 1.8) would be a good option?

Is there a way to take the ejuice out of a prefilled cartridge to put in my own device? I have a vape stick that is probably too big to put the cartridge on I think. The threads may be compatible, but it has a very large battery compared to the pen..but I also have a small pod device and would rather not have to purchase a separate pen for the cartridges. Any advice?

Hi, There is alot of people getting sick from vaping. What are your thoughts on this? Bad juice? I read a report linking it to the vitamin e oil in the vape? My wife has been using a vape pen with cbd for sleep.I am just concerned that maybe she shouldn’t use it anymore. Thanks John

None of the cases in which a product has been identified have been caused by standard e-liquid, but rather by adulterated black market THC oil. Check coverage of the situation in our News section.
