What is an Elf Bar? A Look Into the Most Popular Disposable Vape

Elf Bar is changing the brand name on its products sold in the United States to EBDESIGN after a federal judge ordered the company to stop using the ELFBAR name until a trademark dispute is decided.

EBDESIGN-branded products will arrive in the U.S. soon after March 10. Product model numbers will remain the same, as will the appearance of the devices. Model numbers will be more prominent on the devices and packaging, and the brand name will be smaller.

Beware of ELFBAR-branded products still being sold in stores. They could be fake (or counterfeit) Elf Bars.

What is an Elf Bar?

An Elf Bar is a hugely popular disposable vape that comes in a wide range of sizes, flavors, and nicotine levels. A disposable vape is an e-cigarette used only once and then thrown away.

There are over 27 different Elf Bar models sold globally. Each model has a different puff count ranging from 400 all the way up to 5000 on their popular BC5000 model.

Vaping has become hugely popular in recent years as a far less harmful alternative to smoking, and a means to quit cigarettes altogether. Elf Bars are currently among the most popular vape devices on the market due to their ease of use, great fruity flavors, consistency, and quality of their products. Vapers have appreciated this combination of attributes, which has led to their popularity skyrocketing in the last two years.

What is inside an Elf Bar?

As with all disposable vapes, an Elfbar, regardless of its model, will contain the following components:

  1. Outer casing and mouthpiece
  2. Coil/atomizer (mesh)
  3. Tank or cotton pad
  4. Battery
  5. Vape juice
  6. *Charging port (on re-chargeable disposable vapes only)

Elf Bar ingredients

Every Elf Bar contains e-juice, sometimes called e-liquid or vape juice. Elf Bar e-juice contains the following ingredients:

  • Propylene glycol (PG)
  • Vegetable glycerine (VG)
  • Flavorings
  • Nicotine (nic salt)

Elf Bar e-juice contains a 50/50 PG to VG blend and uses nicotine salt for a smoother hit at higher nicotine levels.

How much nicotine is in an Elf Bar?

The nicotine level in your Elf Bar will depend on what country you purchase yours in.

If you are in the UK or EU, Elf Bars come in the following nicotine strengths:

  • 0% (0 mg/mL)
  • 1% (10 mg/mL)
  • 2% (20 mg/mL)

If you are in the US, Elf Bars come in the following nicotine strengths:

  • 0% (0 mg/mL)
  • 5% (50 mg/mL)
  • Sometimes 3% (30 mg/mL)

What are the best Elf Bar flavors?

According to online sales, the three most popular flavors in the US are currently the following:

Elf Bar BC5000 Watermelon Ice

Elf Bar BC5000 Watermelon Ice

Watermelon ice from Elf Bar is an intoxicating flavor of a bright and juicy watermelon, capped off with an ice-cold finish. The aroma jumps out of the disposable before you vape, gearing you up for the sweet and bright melon flavor to come. Although a simple blend, it’s one of the most flavorful produced in this extensive line.

Elf Bar BC5000 Blue Razz Ice

Elf Bar BC5000 Blue Razz Ice

Blue Razz Ice is a great rendition of one of the most common flavors in disposables. The taste is obviously blue raspberry with a cold exhale, but the clarity and quality of the experience with Elf Bar’s Blue Razz Ice revives some new life into an otherwise overdone flavor. A standout among many other brands’ versions.

Elf Bar BC5000 Strawberry Kiwi

Elf Bar BC5000 Strawberry Kiwi

Strawberry Kiwi is a well-balanced mix of sweet and tangy. The strawberry adds sweetness and the tangy zip comes from the kiwi. Although a blend, the taste of strawberry kiwi melds together seamlessly into a singular flavor that’s neither too much strawberry nor kiwi. There’s only a mild cooling sensation on this flavor.

How do you know if an Elf Bar is finished

An Elf Bar is finished when either the battery or e-juice runs out. Once either is finished, your Elf Bar indicator light will blink several times. If you own a rechargeable Elf Bar, you should now recharge your device, and if it is not rechargeable, you should throw it away as it is now completely finished.

Check out our table below to determine if your Elf Bar device is rechargeable or not.

How many puffs are in an Elf Bar & how long do they last?

The table below shows every Elf Bar model (at the time of writing), their puff counts, battery strengths, and how long each is estimated to last based on your vaping style.

How to recharge an Elf Bar?

As with most modern electronic devices, Elf Bars charge through USB-C ports. USB-C charge cables are different than traditional micro-USB cables in that the plug is symmetrical and oval-shaped.

With all Elf Bar rechargeable disposables, there’ll be a visible USB-C port, most often on the bottom of the device—not to be confused with an airflow hole. Charge the Elf Bar as you would any other small electronic device.

The charge time varies per Elf Bar model. The general rule of thumb is 30-90 minutes, depending on the Elf Bar’s mAh rating and how depleted it is. The lowest mAh is in the shortest charge time, and the highest is in the longest. The average time for charging 650 mAh is approximately an hour.

Is pulegone used in elfbars? I’ve noticed they’re always minty even when the name doesn’t imply it(ex: ice/cool flavors). Thank you this was a helpful article as I’m a smoker (former soon hopefully) that’s new to vaping.

Concern over pulegone as a vape additive is entirely based on a 2019 letter to the journal JAMA Internal Medicine that used previously published data from years earlier to estimate the pulegone quantities vapers might be exposed to and speculate about the harms they might cause—without ever testing quantities in modern products or amounts of pulegone in people who vape. One of the authors is a Duke researcher who has published several studies that zero in on certain chemicals present in vaping products and hype the potential harms they pose. (The study got a lot of attention in September 2019,… Read more »
