JUUL Labs has a new nicotine strength with less nicotine than their normal pods. The new products have 40% less nicotine than the current JUUL pods: 3% nicotine by weight vs 5% for the original pods. The original 5% pods are 59 mg/mL. The new 3% ones will be 35 mg/mL.
The pods will only be available in the Virginia Tobacco and Mint flavors — at least at first. That choice may be a concession to tobacco control critics that claim some of JUUL’s flavors are aimed at teenagers, and that their high nicotine content will “addict a new generation” — or to the FDA, which has begun investigating JUUL’s supposed “kid-appeal.”
The move was originally announced in a press release in July from the San Francisco company. The new pods are now available in limited quantity but will be widely available in October. JUUL Labs says the new product will “support the Company’s mission to provide existing adult smokers with a true alternative to cigarettes.”
“JUUL Labs wants to meet the needs and preferences of adult smokers who are on their journey to switching from cigarettes, and we hope the availability of different nicotine strengths will continue to allow adult smokers the ability to explore what is best for them,” said JUUL Labs CEO Kevin Burns.
I would love for them to roll out a 1%. I plan to go from 5% to 3%. I am quitting cigarettes by using JUUL. I’d love to eventually go from a 3% to a 1% then completely quit all together. Going from 3% to none may be more difficult.
I would rather less nicotine, as the cigs I was smoking had. I love that the JUUL actually fits in my tiny little purse!
I smoke ultra lite cigarettes would like 1 or 2% nicotine and not in flavors. want some tobacco flavor.
They have Tobacco flavor in the 3%. I used to smoke ultra lights myself and these definitely compare nicely for me.
Where do I buy the 3%
They’re available at most of the same retailers that sell 5%.
