    Vape Mods Explained

    What is a Vape Mod?

A vape mod is a power source, essentially a case that contains one or more rechargeable batteries, that supplies electricity to a vaping atomizer. The term “mod” has its origins in the early years of e-cigs, where hobbyist vapers “modified” existing electrical hardware (cases, batteries, wiring, etc.) for custom use as vaping hardware. Now all e-cig power sources are called mods. Box mods are one of two primary types of power sources, with tube mods being the other. (Tube mods vary from small disposable “cig-a-likes,” some with fused atomizers to large cylinders with screw-on connectors for external atomizers.) Almost universally, box mods have a firing switch or button. Press the switch, and the atomizer gets power from the mod and “fires,” vaporizing eliquid with the instantly heated coil. Release the button, and the power is cut off.

    Different Types of Box Mods

Box mods come in different designs, configurations, and aesthetics. They may be constructed with fixed internal LiPo batteries that recharge via USB cables or with removable Li-Ion batteries that can be recharged either via USB or outside the mod in a dedicated charger. The majority of USB-recharged box mods allow vaping while charging (called “passthrough”), but not all. Removable battery vape mods allow the user to “swap out” drained batteries for fresh, fully-charged batteries. Both types are popular and available.

A box mod with removable batteries may incorporate one to four rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, although one or two is most common.

Typically, box mods have a rectangular shape, but this varies from regular boxes with sharp, straight angles to more ergonomic and aesthetic curved designs.

Box Mods can use any of various regulating chips/boards that vary from providing simple safety protections to more sophisticated functions, such as variable wattage output and temperature control. The second type usually has a display screen that shows information about the settings and functions. Some box mods are designed and made with no chips at all, and occasionally even no soldered wiring, in which case they’re called “mechanical mods.”

Vape mods are made in many sizes and every conceivable design. Materials include plastic, metal, and wood. Colors range from basic black or silver through the entire spectrum, and from simple monochromatic adornment to beautiful works of art.

Most vaping hardware qualifies as “disposable,” and this includes box mods. Few are designed and manufactured to last forever in actual use. Lifespan varies wildly, from a couple months before they break or stop working to many years of faithful, dependable service.

Which Vape Mod is Right for you?

Choosing a vape mod requires answering numerous questions about your preferences:

    • How much power do I want?
    • How large (or small) do I want my box mod to be?
    • How important to me are the ergonomics and aesthetics of my box mod?
    • How much sophisticated chip technology do I want?
    • How long can I vape between battery recharges?
    • How much am I willing to spend?

There’s likely to be a box mod available in the marketplace for every combination of responses.

What are Temperature Controlled Vape Mods?

Vaping began in 2005 by using fixed voltage power sources exclusively. Around 2011, variable voltage was developed, followed quickly by variable power (wattage). Temperature control followed on the heels of those earlier improvements. Temp Control (or TC) is the most recent technological development in vaping chips that emerged initially in 2014 and has quickly become an industry standard feature of most mods.

Atomizers operate by vaporizing e-liquid with a metal heating element, usually in the form of coiled alloy wire. E-liquid is supplied (or “wicked”) to the atomizer by silica, cotton, or other fibrous cellulose material that goes through or around the coil or coils. If the wick is not sufficiently saturated with e-liquid, the result is “dry hits.” A dry hit not only produces no vapor, but tastes terrible, with either a nasty burnt wick taste or an even more unpleasant hot metallic aftertaste.

Also, unregulated e-cig mods perform less efficiently as the battery/batteries drain. What starts out as a great-tasting full vape with fresh batteries diminishes over time, providing less flavor and vapor.

Temperature control addresses both those problems by regulating and controlling the amount of power supplied to the coil. When the coil is not “bathed” sufficiently in e-liquid, it quickly overheats, producing dry hits. Temp control technology doesn’t actually sense temperature — instead, it monitors the changing resistance of the coil, which corresponds to predictable changes in temperature. When the coil begins to overheat, the temp control chip instantly reduces the power, thus preventing the wick from burning and minimizing or eliminating dry hits. If the coil becomes totally dry, power will be completely cut off.

In addition, temp control provides a consistent vape throughout the power range of the battery drain.

Most temp control vape mods currently require atomizers to be outfitted with coils using one of three specific wire types — nickel, titanium, or stainless steel. As the technology is improved and refined, however, other wire types, such as Kanthal, Nichrome, or even Tungsten, may be usable with TC.

TC lets the vaper specify the maximum temperature allowed before temp protection (i.e., instant voltage limitation) activates. The range is typically from 100-300° Centigrade, or 300-600° Fahrenheit. As much power is applied as necessary to maintain the set temperature, but no more.

Temp control has not been universally adopted by vapers. Those who use TC tend to swear by it, but many other vapers use TC only sporadically or not at all. Since most mods now contain regulating chips, however, and since it’s no more expensive for manufacturers to include temp control technology in their chips, TC has largely taken over the mod marketplace.

Now this is a very worthwhile piece to read , i find the overwhelming majority of reviewers out there these days to be a major disappointment but you did a very good job on this one.

    • Thanks for the kind words Chris! It took us a while to do this one, so I am glad you enjoyed it.

      • Chris

Hey, you got to give credit where credit’s due , your reviews are where i have directed people to go when asked for good info on mods and other gear as a matter of fact .

Love the way you lay it all out as well , very easy to navigate and follow along.

Keep up the great work my friend.

        • Appreciate you spreading the word! Lots to come over the next few months. We have got some other reviewers on board to review more gear and we will be focusing on making the site quicker and nicer!

      • We wrote you an email, thanks!

        • Alex, should you please send your address and phone number to us,we will send a Favotank for your reviews, look forward your reply, thanks.

    • Doug Huyler

@akendell:disqus Have you tried the new 200W snow wolf or the IPV3 LI with the 200w firmware upgrade yet?

      • We haven’t tried them yet Doug. We should be getting an IPV3 Li soon, and have heard good things about it so far. We will post a review as soon as we get it!

        • Phillie Mike

Hey Chris what about the kbox kangertech mini. Its my first mod is it decent?

          • If by kbox mini you are referring to the Kanger Subox, then yes I would say it is a decent little box mod that will fire up to 50W! Also check out the Innokin Disrupter as that is also a good 50W box. Need to add that one to this list!

    • beardsley

For me, Sigelei 75W Box Mod with Temperature Control is amazing box mod,i’m planning to buy one. Thanks for your review, very useful.

    • Grant

The e-vic vt is like $70 on vapor nw. I paid $50 for the express kit

    • Nick Jennings

Very nice round up. I think your list sums it all up as far as mods go. You have listed a device for every type of vapor out there. Myself, having gone through alot of mods…..MVP 2, 20W….iStick 30W, 50W…Sigelei 30W mini…Smok XPro M80 Plus. I have finally settled on a simple but powerful mod. The Sigelei 150W in Royal Blue. I found out that I wanted something with power, replaceable batteries, and a great product. I did read your review of the Sigelei 150W and liked it. You guys are good. Keep up the excellent work.

      • Agree you can’t go wrong with the Sig 150! Thanks for the kind words. Plenty more reviews on the way and a massive overhaul of the whole site soon, so stay tuned!

    • Sam Thomas

Mine Modz 120 Watt Raptor, cleanest work you will find, a beast of a box around 135.00. A plus is that you can deal with the maker directly instead of having a hundred dollar paper weight after the chinese junk breaks. I have several of those planned obsolescence devices on my desk.

      • Thanks for the info Sam. We will check that one out as haven’t heard of it before!

    • Ryan Sheffield

Where is the Snow Wolf 200w box mod with temp control? That thing is amazing!

      • Good point Ryan! We haven’t tried it yet ourselves but its on the list to review asap.

      • Jazzywizkid

I have the Snow Wolf 200w TC. This thing is so fun I can hardly put it down for long. I have the limited edition with the gun metal finish. It also has the updated chip on this model. The first gen snow wolf 200 had some issues that were addressed with the new version. The only cons so far are
Fingerprints get on the mod too easily constantly wiping them away just to leave more in a few seconds.
Changes to pulse mode when you turn up the mod sometimes over 150 watts (though I never need that kind of burn anyway even on my dripper) Depending on what your build is also. I’d have to be insane to try it out of a subtank with that kind of wattage

      • Cesa

I love love love the snow wolf 200w! The only downside is it absolutely CANNOT take a fall! But it is amazing overall!

        • Kali Marie Ann Williams

Mone worked amazinggg, I loved it knocked it of my laundry basket like a foot and a half to the ground… it worked after and then I went to bed and now it won’t turn on. Any way to go about fixing it?

          • Miket

I dropped my snow wolf and had a similar problem.
I found with mine the batteries had bumped the contacts, squashing them slightly, so they would no longer touch correctly. A little, light pull on the contacts to bend them back out slightly, fixed the contact issues and it’s been working fine ever since.
May not be the problem you are having but worth a try.

      • Zenious

The snow wolf is lame imo its not actually 200w just 150w DC then it will pulse to simulate the wattage intended over that. Its so heavy too, I felt like my jeans were falling down with it in my pocket xD.

Get a cuboid they are miles better imo, it will actually go to 200w if your battery and coil setup allow.

        • Jack Bitterman

The cuboid won’t do 200w either. No dual 18650 mod will do 200w.

          • Zenious

That depends on your coil ohms and batteries actually, you can’t just say no duel 18650 would because if you have your ohms low enough you can get the watts high enough but it would increase amp draw so batteries would have to be high quality.
So theoretically you could but most regulated box mods have a minimum ohm safety feature. In reality you could do it on an unregulated boxmod but would put undue strain on the batteries unless you are using new 35 amp cells

            • Daltsy

I use the Joy tech Cuboid, TFV4 octuplet coil, with dual LG 18650’s and it’s fantastic. The only problem is that the Cuboid has a 25amp capacitor built in to the firmware, so you can’t get an actual 200w with it… Unless someone else has a way, or hopefully joytech addresses this issue. But none the less, I use my setup at 100w, with the coil at 0.19ohms, and I get pretty hearty cloud and flavor.

    • Shelley Clayton

Thanks for the great info. I have a question I can’t seem to get an answer to. I have the MVP 3.0 and my ohm just flash. What is up with that? Is something wrong with my box?

      • Hi Shellely. I am no too sure tbh, as I haven’t seen that happen before. Does the mod still work or does it just flash and not work? Maybe its not making the proper connection with the tank. Try another and see if that is doing the same thing.

        • U Know

I assume your using a RDA, regardless it’s because whatever your using is below .2ohms.

    • Taylor Price

      Cherry bomber?

      • Haven’t tried it yet Taylor, but its a mech, so not really my type of box mod.

      What about kangertech subox mini?
someone can tell me how is it?

    • Piopi

Where is the kangertech kbox and subox?

    • LordNine

Obviously, just as with sub-ohm tanks, devices that can power sub-ohm tanks are coming out at a furious pace…Volcano’s Lavatube 3 and LavaBox…Johnson Creeks Vea Elite (which is actually the USA version of the S-Body Mini Torch)…the S-Body Macro by VaporShark and DNA200 (also made by S-Body I believe, who also were the makers of VaporSharks DNA/rDNA mods)…the IPV D2 from Pioneer4You…the Esquare/ Epetite and Tan DNA40 devices by Lost Vape…Snow Wolf v1.5 Limited Edition…the Troca/Alesia and Suprabox from JWell which is beginning it’s inroad to the USA market (btw, don’t forget to check out their sub-ohm coil tanks, the Strada and the Duplx)…and on and on…

      • Thanks for all the tips. We will actually be reviewing some of those devices you mentioned soon, but its hard to keep up with the market right now!

    • Dee

Can someone help me. I just received my ipv4 S and I’m using it with my kanger subtank mini. I cannot fire up and constantly receive low resistance. Sometimes even the message short. Batteries are legit and fully charged, hit + and – keys to try and set but can’t really get it past. 006. Cleaned the 510 connection as well. Is it the tank itself because I have the Smok TFV4 coming.

      • Have you tried a new coil on the subtank? Could be that the wire inside the coil. Is the tank clean? Could be that liquid got to the connector and that is why you are getting a short.

    • Dee
    • L0udc1ty

iSticks are pieces of crap. They all crap out after a couple of months.

      • I guess it is one of those products you love or hate. I have heard good things and bad things about it but personally we have had zero issues with the 10/20/30W iSticks. They are very affordable and easy to use. We did take out the 50W device due to production issues but Eleaf have fixed the main issues with the last batches.

    • Jeremoah

      What about the d1

    • Jeremoah

      The d2

      • Waiting to review that one before adding it on to the list! Should have a review up soon.

    • dalton

So I’m lookin for a box mod with variable voltage/wattage for my wife. I have the ipv4 and she loves it but she thinks its to ugly.. She wants a girly one. Like pink or purple. Anyone know of one?? Thanks guys!

    • Nick Jennings

Two mods come to mind that you missed. Snow Wolf 200W and iStick TC40W. I really think you should check out the iStick TC40W as its a great TC mod for its price point. Its great for an intro TC device if anything. I really hope to see it on your list soon. Seems like you guys neglected it for some reason. To be honest, I had it and ran my Herakles in TC mode and it was amazing! Flavor and clouds were outstanding. I moved up to my evic vt for battery life and my iStick TC40W was vaped forward to a friend.

      • Hi Nick. Yeap we need to update the article, as there are just so many new mods right now. Hard to keep up, but I will definitely consider the two you mention, as they both seem like great mods. Appreciate your recommendations!

    • Amanda Brewer

I am trying to decide which mod to get!
I want to quit smoking! But I haven’t found the right set up (juice included) to satisfy my craving… So someone Please Help!!!
I am trying to decide between several..
      1.) Kangertech Subox Mini
      2.) Kangertech Subox Nano
      3.) eLeaf iStick 50w
4.) eVic VTC Mini by JoyeTech
Or if someone has a better recommendation, please let me know!
      Thank you in Advance!!!

      • Hi Amanda. I wouldn’t get the iStick 50W, as it had some autofiring issues. Any of the other three are solid choices. The Subox Mini has a larger tank than the Nano, but the Nano is slightly sleeker in terms of the design of the box itself. The Evic Mini looks great as well and you can’t go wrong with any of those three you mentioned.

        • mercenarygrip

What autofiring issues have you heard about, and how common is it? I have the iStick 50w & love it. Haven’t had any trouble at all, and I’ve been using it daily for a few months. But if there are issues I should look out for, I’d like to know.

          • Hey, if you could take a look at our review on the iStick 50W (http://vaping360.com/eleaf-istick-50w-review/) you can check the comments. There should also be a link to a reddit thread talking about the issues of the iStick 50W. We did not encounter any issues with our 50W but we do not recommend it to anyone due to the many issues that a lot of iStick 50Ws had.

      • Jules Cote’

Amanda, I started 2 years ago with the Innokin MVP 20, and still using it! I felt really lucky that this was what I was sold to start with. The benefits of Innokins are they have powerful built in batteries, that charge with a mini usb port. You can also charge your cell phone with it. It fits almost all clearomizers, and tanks. Variable volts/ watts,on off button. Personally I think this is an excellent way to get started. I quit smoking tobacco the same week I began vaping, have never looked back! I’m just now upgrading my experience to the MVP 30 pro, so I can finally try a sub ohm tank.

      • Kelly Foreman

        You can’t go wrong with the eleaf I just 2 ! And it’s only around $ 25 to $ 30 bucks

    • Christopher Salihe Payne

” check out our article on “What is a box mod?””…putting that without putting the link isn’t very helpful. Still don’t exactly what one is and don’t feel like searching this site until I find the article.

      • Apologies Christopher. We were going to write the article straight after, but haven’t got around to it yet as we have just been so busy with reviews and other stuff. We should have an article up in the next month or so that will discuss all the types of vaping devices on the market and their pros and cons etc.

    • LucidFeel

I’ve bought Istick 30W with MELO atomizer and I’m 100% satisfied:

    • Steffan

I would say this is my favorite mod including TC and everything at the moment, hard to beat http://ecigtests.com/2015/09/smok-x-cube-ii/

    • WildBorego

looking for something to use daily. just want to vape for fun really.

      • Wildborego, we only recommend vaping to smokers. Of course you still can vape for fun, but that is your decision and not something we personally recommend.

I have a question guys I have a subtank mini kanger starter kit and I want to buy a SMOK TFV4 subtank but i dont know if it will fit on my kanger minibox

    • Dan Hepper

I have a question guys I have a subtank mini kanger starter kit and I want to buy a SMOK TFV4 subtank but i dont know if it will fit on my kanger minibox

      • Joe

I am trying to do the same thing….. I was told that SMOK subtank needs WAY more power than then the KBOX mini can deliver. I can’t decide between the Snow Wolf 200w, Sigelei 150 TCS or the SMOK X cube 2. If anyone has opinions

        • They are all great box mods, it all depends on what you need them for and how much money you are willing to pay. In my opinion I would go for the Sig 150W TC or the xCube II as they are a tad cheaper than the Snow Wolf.

      • You will be able to use certain coils on the KBOX Mini using the TFV4 but I would recommend getting a higher wattage box mod to use the TFV4 at its full potential. Check out our TFV4 Coils Guide here: http://vaping360.com/smok-tfv4-coils-overview-and-review/

    • Daniel Smith

I have the IPV4S and to me it is all I could need. Fingerprints do get on the screen but that’s not a big deal to me. I love it so much I can never put it down. I always have my dripper on it (a mutation x v2) and I can go to 120 with it but I always keep it at around 65 I found is the sweet spot with my coils. To me it could be a little better but im not one to complain I love to see people recognizing it thank you.

    • Bill

      Beginner- MVP20 and Sigelei 30
Intermediate- MVP Pro kit and IPV 2 mini 70 watt
      Advanced Non Tc- Sigelei 150

It’s great but my 510 stripped within 2 months and many others have had the same problem.

        • Michael Laughlin

Have you reviewed the snow wolf1.5 yet I’m really interested to see what you think of the mod

          • Not yet!

            • Jim Leon

So I’m new here but it looks like it’s been two weeks since the latest response regarding the Snow Wolf v1.5… Any chance there’s a review on it I can’t find?

            • Sadly not, we are currently overhauling the site and quite busy. We will try and review as many products as possible once the new site is online. Sorry for the delay! Here is a review from FCs: http://flavourchasers.com/asmodus-snowwolf-200w/

            • John Songer

1 month before this reply you said it was being done at that time and would be up in a week. I am thinking you no longer have the backing you did before

        • xXDevilsXcryXx

next week … 4 months later .. no review at all

      • John Songer

I am guessing that the ipv3 Li didn’t make it because it came out last year? I had the choice to pre-order the snow wolf 1.5 or get it and I am totally happy with the decision. Also, what about the iPV 5? Whole lot better than the Smok devices you listed. Doesn’t it run a very similar chip (if not same one) that the YiHi SX Mini ML Class has?

    • James Giordano

They forgot Sub box sins this is crazy good best i tried and best i have

    • Ray

have you review on X Pro Plus (M80)?? need to know its performance~ TQ

      • We haven’t but we heard it had some issues with the temp control originally. Not sure if this has been ironed out yet or now.

    • Ryan Stobart

Hey guys. I’m looking to do an upgrade. I have the iStick TC40W with an Atlantis V2. The battery life sucks and I’m just not getting quite the flavor out of the combo that I was told I would get. I’m looking for something a lot better, keeping short of rebuilding coils and dripping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

      • Crown Tank and the Eleaf iStick 100W is a great combo. Our favorite sub ohm tank to date and the iStick 100W is a great no fuss mod if you don’t want temp control.

If you want temp control it might be worth check a DNA 200 mod: http://vaping360.com/dna-200-box-mods/

The Hotcig or Lavabox both look great so far.

        • Ryan Stobart

Thanks Chris. Would the crown tank still be a good choice on the lavabox?

          • Yes definitely! It has some great Ni200 coils as well as the standard Stainless steel coils which are fantastic for flavor and vapor.

    • MicroNexie

Any body know of a good 75W mod that they can recomend?

    • vikypl

I think there should be also iJoy Asolo 200W, perfect high-end TC mod.

      • Our reviewer Sam has just reviewed it and it had a few flaws to it, hence I haven’t added it. Review will be uploaded soon!

    • Linda Thomas

Do you not rate VIP products in any way?

      • What do you mean by VIP products?

        • Linda meant the VIP Cig-a-likes and eGo devices.

Linda: Those devices are really not that effective or publicly obsessed over in comparison to the devices aimed at more experienced users 🙂

          • Ah, okay. Thanks for the heads up, I guess cig-a-likes are still used for smokers picking up on vaping (seeming as you can find them in nearly every shop). To be honest, I think they should be picking up an eGo or some sort of regulated mod to start off with. The vapor, flavor and experience is just that much more than what you get with the cig-a-likes. Thanks Vaperex!

            • Yeah definitely I think cig-a-likes and eGos still make a up a lot of the market due to their wide availability.

Not a bad thing as the worst they will do is reduce daily cigarette consumption and hopefully tickle new vapers curiosity to the more advanced and effective stuff 🙂

Anyways, great post – ended up with an Evic Mini!

            • That is very true. Mind you I have a sneaky suspicion that some of the people buying these cig-a-likes expect more of them, thus are disappointed and go back to analogs. I guess you have to want to quit to like vaping. If not you are going to be one of the vape-haters. Thanks for the kind words, good choice! How is it Evic VTC Mini running for you?

            • Tjums

Oh damn, that little bitch is running dayme gyyyyd!
              – I am running velocity rda, with fused clapton coil, and it is my fav regulated mod, to ma velocity! 😀

    • Bjørnar Berntsen

You should check out the foggin sailor mods from Norway, he makes custum made mods they are awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA8kuSHOfto

    • Steffan South

For beginners, the k anger tech subox nano is nice, it doesn’t come with a battery so be prepared for that, but 70 for a sub ohm box mod that allows temp control all the way from 0.1-50 in .1 increments really isn’t bad. It’s my first sub ohm piece I’ve owned and I’m learning on it about temps, taste, clouds and coils on it. I always used to assume a higher temp was better, now with this piece I’m finding out more of the intricacies that different temps play on your vaping experience. Personally I use Charlies chalk dust dream cream and Cut wood bird brains (fruity pebbles flavor) on my box, box vape extremely nicely and the flavors are amazing

mODrmODZ has some pretty unique form factor designs for the DNA200, U.S. modder

Fuchai 200w by sigelli is out and is crazy cheap n simple. Review!

      • Thanks for the heads up, it’s on the list with about 50 other box mods, lol.

        • Nytrx

Busy busy, just picked up an ipv3li as my big boy mod n chucked the crown on it. Hopefully was the best choice. Early Xmas prezzy n all lol.

    • DLTtoday

I’m thinking very hard about the eifel T1. But I’m running on a very low vape budget and can’t afford to make a poor decision and regret it in a month.
If I get it I’ll be running the T1 with a herakles tank and a Delta 2 I’ve just started building coils for.

Is there another high wattage box I should be considering for 50$(ish) as opposed to the T1?

      • DLTtoday

Just had a friend call me up and tell me his screen went out on his T1 after only 3 weeks.
How bout the , Sigelei Fuchai 200w?

        • Haven’t tried the Fuchai yet, but it is from Sigelei, so you can’t go wrong with it.

      • Sigelei 150W TC, iPV3 Li, Sigelei 150W, iStick 100W, Cool Fire IV Plus. There is a few to mention, some of them are over the $50 budget but they are great mods for bargain prices.

    • Ron

Based on the reviews im thinking about getting a Koopor Plus with a Crown Uwell tank and i would like to know if this would be a decent combo. I was also wondering if you have done a review or tried Twelve Vapor?

      • Perfect combo! No we have not yet, soon maybe? Enjoy your new vape.

    • Todd

I am trying to decide to get a freemax starre or a uwell crown tank dual coil and what mod would go great with it

      • Hey Todd, personally I would go for the Uwell Crown with a Koopor Plus, iStick 100W, Coolfire IV Plus, Sigelei Fuchai or the Sigelei 150W TC.

        • Corbin Smith

Also try the Wismec RX200. Its a 200W device with temp control takes 3 18650 batteries. it might look like a big mod but it fits in the hand perfect. i have small hands and it feels good. And the best part about this device is that its only round $50.

    • James Franklin

How about the rx200 from jaybo 45 bucks ft xmas code beats all!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a rta for you all to check out vctm from vaporz clouds builders dream with a 25mm and 30 mm decks .25 and .30mm holes in velocity style deck. Marry christmas to u and you’re family

      • Review for the RX200 coming soon, Merry Christmas to you too!

    • Lou Rankin Jr

I’ve got a decent collection of these tanks and a few mods as well now. Been vaping since June and love the reviews on this site the way they’re done. Love that you test most coils and let everyone know where the flavor sweet spot is.

(Most of)My collection: (FAVE)Smok X Cube 2(Black), Snow Wolf 200W, Sigelei 75W, Cloupor Mini Plus(White), (FAVE)TFV4 Mini,(Bl.), (FAVE)Crown Tank(Bl. & SS), TFV4(SS), iSub G, Zephyrus(plan to get Bl. V2!), UD Bellus, Atlantis V1&2, Herakles, Arctic, Phantom Micro, Hatrick Tank, Mutation X V4 & XS Mini, Atty3, Doge XV2, Tobeco Zorro & Vector, PSO Swirlfish, & HellBoy(clone). Also have tons of Wire, cotton, and TONSof tank coils lol. Along with TONS n TONS of eliquid! Thats just 6 months worth on small budget, would have lot more if I made more $$…

      • Thanks for the kind words, that is a good amount of vape gear you have there! Enjoy!

        • Lou Rankin Jr

Thanks! Ordered my Zephyrus V2 when coupon sales were happening for Xmas! Can’t wait!! Think you’ll review that one or is it pretty much like the V1 so there’s not really a need to…?

          • Have not tried it yet, have so many products that still need to be reviewed and I am not sure when the review will go live.

    • Chris Hudson

You should also try out the hexohm v2.1 it’s a beast and goes well with the smok tfv4 minI and the sextuplet or quad coil

      • Looks awesome, will try and check it out! Thanks for the heads up!

    • Brian BigSkip Skipper

      What about the RX200…. I LOVE mine with a TFV4 Quad coil @ 120w!!

      • We will be adding a few new mods this week.

        • Corbin Smith

i just got the RX200 today and a wotofo rda and im also using my kanger subtank mini on it and its the best vape i ever had. im really surprised the RX200 isnt on here. Its a 200W mod with temp control and its like $50 in my opinion its a very great price for it.

    • Adam Villegas

Also the kangertech Kbox 200 wasn’t on the list? Only mod that is TC on NiCr. Have not tried it yet, but how about a review?

      • Its on the review queue, once reviewed it will go up on this list.

I own Apollo Reliant 60 W TC and Phazer sub tank.I must admit sub tanks is not for me. I’m vaping almost 4 years now, and after I tried this combination above, I was quite disappointed.
Started with severe cough, even worse than I smoked long time ago.
Anw, I want go back to Aspire Nautilus Mini tank.
      My question is (maybe stupid):
-can I use Apollo Reliant 60 W TC and if yes, how? Which settings?
I know, Apollo uses 1,8 Ohm BVC coils but I can’t adjust Ohm..I can adjust temp. and wat’s..

      Greetings from Sweden.

      • Hi Max. Yes unfortunately “sub ohm vaping” isn’t for everyone. At least you now know it isn’t for you! If you are vaping the Nautilus on the 1.8 ohm coil, take a look at the wattage recommendation on the coil packs and use the Reliant in wattage mode at the suggested recommended wattage. If there are no recommendations start at around 5W and gradually go up to whatever is enjoyable for you (I’d guess around 10W is good, maybe slightly higher).

        • Max Mensur Kahrimanovic

          HI Chris
Thank you for your fast response. Actually, one of your article here where you explaining everything about sub ohm vaping, helped me find a reason for my cough. I guess, I was in that mood where I don’t want admit that sub tanks isn’t for me at all.
          Thx again.

    • Jess

What is the best beginner mod for big clouds?

    • Michael Abrams

Looking for a less conspicuous, single battery mod in the 75-90w range for work and car. Options look like Evic mini, IPV D3, Sigelei Spark, Wismec Presa, etc. Any favorites among these? The

      • D3 and the Evic mini are the only ones I have tried so far, both great mods.

      • Shaun

I am currently using the D3 mod topped with an Aspire Cleito tank. The whole setup is only about the height of a can of beer but it throws clouds like nobody’s business. The battery life has been much better than anticipated. Even when I’m chain vaping, usually a fresh battery will last all day.

        • Awesome set-up, I actually have our Cleito on the black Innokin Coolfire IV Plus. Sadly does not reach the 90W range you are looking for but a great mod nonetheless.

      • Sean Heihn

Eleaf iStick Pico is pretty good, only 75W though. It’s tiny, only a little bit bigger than the Artery Nugget, which I also have, but has a replaceable 18650 battery, which is great when many mini/micro mods have none replaceable batteries. Granted I’ve only had it a day and only used it with Aspire Nautilus and K1 tanks, looking to buy a sub-ohm RBA soon.

      No HCigar tc200?

      HΩ Wrecker G2 151W TC box ?

    • Max

      Hey Vaping360,

Waiting for the updated list…. Thanks!

    • trucked1

Did you forget about the itaste MVP 3 Pro? I think it is one of the best out there for a 60W mod.

    • Tugboat DNA 200?

    • Matt

The snow wolf 1.5 is one of my favorite boxes and I own DNA 200s vapor flask ect.

The snow wolf packs a punch .

    • Tommy Brindisi

When the SX Mini Q drops, definitely add it to the “High End” selection of the list. New Yihi chipset (SX450) & finally a series box with no extension tube from them!

    • jumpdfuckupmax .

Please do a review on the twisted messes box mod. I’m lovin’ your site guys! More power! Thanks!

    • Honeygramaw 57

Dude, I clicked the link because it said squonk boxes where listed! NOT! Bummer!

    • Nishant

Awesome compilation. Definitely very useful for a first timer. What’s your opinion on the following? Please note that I am a noob and have NO experience. I’d prefer to go for a starter kit at the moment for this reason, buy the juice and hit the ground running.

      1. Smok Micro One Starter Kit

      2. Joyetech Cuboid Mini 80W TC Starter Kit

      3. Innokin Cool fire4 Plus

      4. Kanger Topbox Mini Starter Kit

      5. Joyetech eVic VTC Mini (with CUBIS or Tron?)

      • Thanks Nishant! Personally I do not like the SMOK Micro One kit.

        Here are my favorites:

        1. Innokin Coolfire IV Plus Kit
        2. Joyetech eVic VTC Mini + Cubis
        3. Joyetech Cuboid Mini 80W TC

I personally do not like the others mentioned.

    • Saif Adel

I have a reuleaux rx200 using it with a smok tfv4 and 3 samsung 18650 batteries but the problem is that they get empty pretty fast is that normal?

        • Saif Adel

About getting to half full in about 30 minutes of vaping

      Did my comment get deleted?

      • I just checked, there have been no comments that have been deleted on this article.

    • What do you recommend for beginners? Do you think the Tesla Wood would do the trick?

    • Catt

Hey so I just purchased the crown tank I love it ! But o have the beginners Eleaf 50w so I can’t really vape as high as I want to with all the coils they offer. Any suggestions of a great box mod for a great value. Thanks !!

    • John douch

Can I smoke meth our of my to become mini super tank?

    • John douch

    • John douch

Can I smoke meth out of my tobeco mini super tank

    • Alex do you think a 100w box mod would be too much for a beginner? Or should I stick to 50w or less?

    • Amanda

Chris, you and Alex did a great job with these reviews. I’ve tried many of these box mods and this is very accurate. Awesome.
