Rough seas ahead…
Pioneer4You turned to the ocean for inspiration when envisioning their latest creation, the IPV Velas Box Mod.
Directly translated, Velas means “the Sails” and refers to a constellation in the Southern Hemisphere. Its namesake, the iPV Velas, introduces a chassis design that bears a noticea-ble resemblance to the profile of a sail; with shimmering side stickers that one could suggest are supposed to mimic the reflection of the sun on the sea’s surface.
And yes, while this comparison may seem like a bit of a stretch, you have to ask yourself why else they would choose to incorporate this otherwise arbitrary sticker into the design when it so obviously clashes with the rest of the chosen color-scheme? Point proven!
Nevertheless, the end result is a unique form factor that has a podium-like front facing edge that almost “cradles” the installed atomizer when in position. This odd design choice is further accented by broad, flashing LED lighting strips on either side of the unit as well as oversized adjustment buttons on the outer side panel.
Looks aside, this device really shines when it comes to performance. With an installed Yihi SX410 chipset – the same chip as used in the iPV Vesta – this dual battery device allows for a maximum output voltage of 9.5V and a top power level of 120W. The onboard technology also includes a brand-new Intelligent SXi-Q Temperature Curve mode, with precision output adjustments for optimizing your overall vaping performance.
Taking these various elements into account, the iPV Velas 120W Box Mod scores around a 6.5/10 with users likely to love the performance of the device while simultaneously having mixed feelings about the design. On the other hand, if you like (or can live with) the general aesthetic, you will be blown away its functionality and quality construction, given its rather low price point. How do you feel about the new iPV Velas? Do you think it will sink or swim?
