How to Get the Right Dosage for Vaping CBD

There is no universal CBD dosage, and finding the right dose isn’t always easy. There are a number of factors that go into determining your personal dosage, depending on why you are vaping CBD oil. Those factors include:

  • CBD strength
  • Delivery method
  • Body weight
  • Body chemistry
  • Severity of condition

In addition, cannabidiol acts on multiple molecular pathways in the body, so everyone’s experience will be different based on the factors listed above, according to experiments conducted at King’s College London.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the right dose of CBD oil for you.

What is bioavailability?

Each delivery method creates a specific level of bioavailability. This refers to how much CBD content can actually get absorbed into your bloodstream. Vaping happens to have the highest bioavailability, a fact recognized by drug companies. CBD vape juice can provide similar results to CBD capsules, edibles and CBD oil tinctures, while requiring you to use less product, making it one of the most efficient delivery systems for cannabidiol.

  • CBD capsules and edibles – 5-15%
  • CBD tinctures – 20-30%
  • CBD vape oil – 40-50%

So, if you vape 10 mg of CBD, your body can only absorb 4-5 mg of it. Keep this in mind when calculating your dosage. If you happen to change your method of delivery, you’ll need to adjust your dosage according to its bioavailability.

CBDfx Blue Raspberry Vape Series

CBDfx Vape Juice

CBDfx is known for their vape additives. Now they offer pre-mixed vape juice in nine popular flavors: Strawberry Kiwi, Fruity Cereal, Blue Raspberry, Strawberry Milk. They also have a few flavors in a collaboration with ANML. Made from high-quality cannabidiol isolate — available in 250 mg, 500 mg and 1000 mg CBD.

How to calculate your dosage

Always start with the lowest dosage for your body weight (see below) and gradually work your way up. If you take too much at once, you’re more likely to experience side effects, usually mild drowsiness. Conversely, if the dosage is too low, you may not notice any effect at all.

CBD vape juice bottles are generally marked with the total amount of CBD per bottle (instead of per mL.) Here’s a simple way to figure out how much CBD is in your tank:

How much CBD is in each puff?

There is no real definitive answer to this question, as each CBD vape pen and tank is capable of different levels of vapor output, and each person’s puffs take in different amounts of vapor. A standard 1 mL cartridge can provide anywhere from 100-200 puffs in total, depending on puff duration. A 1 mL cartridge containing 200 mg CBD will give you around 1-2 mg of CBD per puff.

If you’re using a vape mod, many of them actually have a puff counter that keeps track of every puff you take. You can utilize this feature to get an idea of how many puffs it takes to clear a tank of CBD vape juice. Then divide the total amount of CBD in your tank by the total puffs to determine the dose per puff.

If you don’t want to get that technical, you can just figure out your daily intake by how many times you refill your tank, once you have determined the total CBD per tank. So, if your tank contains 100 mg CBD in total, and you vape half of it, you vaped 50 mg CBD. If it took you about 200 puffs, that means you took in around 1 mg CBD per puff.

CBDfx Terpenes Vape Pen

CBDfx Terpenes Vape Pen

CBDfx Terpenes Vape Pens are disposable vapes filled with 50 mg of full spectrum cannabidiol and flavored with real terpenes. Terpenes are organic compounds found in plants that give each hemp strain its own unique flavor and character. CBDfx Terpenes Vape Pens come in four natural strain-specific varieties.

This chart will give you a general idea of to how much CBD you should vape, based on your body weight. Always start low, and gradually work your way up until you find a satisfactory dosage for you.

Keep in mind, your dosage is subject to change based on the condition you are treating. Also, these dosages are for taking CBD orally, so if you’re vaping it, you won’t need as much, due to the higher bioavailability of vaped CBD. Here are a few recommended doses:

  • Increase appetite in cancer patients – 2.5 mg CBD (best when combined at a 1:1 ratio with THC, if it’s available where you live)
  • Chronic pain – 2.5-20 mg CBD
  • Epilepsy – 200-300 mg CBD
  • Sleep disorders – 40-160 mg CBD
  • Social anxiety – 40-300 mg

Conclusion

By now you should have a better understanding of how to calculate the perfect dose for vaping CBD oil. As you have seen, there is a lot that goes in to determining how much CBD to vape. The best method is to start as low as possible then slowly work your way up. Once you have found the lowest dosage that works for you, don’t change it. If you feel like you’re not getting enough, you can always increase in 5 mg increments.

Hi Dave
I’m using a cbd additive that is 300mg and is a 60 ml bottle. I am mixing it 50/50 with my favorite vape juice. I’m using a 5 ml tank.
Does this mean each tank only contains 12.5 mg of cbd since I am mixing the cbd/vape juice 50/50 ?
Thanks for your help.

Sorry I can’t figure this out, can someone help me please. I bought a bottle of cbd eliquid 600mg. I have adhd and sleep deprivation issues. I’m 238lbs https://provacan.co.uk/cbd-eliquid/cbd-for-vapes-600-mg/ This is what I bought but it doesn’t have a ml amount, just the MG amount… I read its hard to overdose and my lu gs would give out way before I ever got half way to achieving it…. So my only concern is wasting it by not taking in enough MG, or having too much where as I’m now exceeding what’s needed and the excess is wasted for no reason.… Read more »

Looking at the FAQ on the website, I see the milliliter amount they state is 10 mL. That said, it should state it on the bottle and not require customers to go looking through FAQs.
