VOOPOO VINCI E120 Review: A Supersized 120W Pod Vape!

The VOOPOO VINCI E120 is the latest pod system from VOOPOO, and is a unique one for sure. VOOPOO has a pretty long catalog of good products after they built a name for themselves with the original DRAG mod. The VINCI E120 is unique because while it is a pod system, it’s not a typical low-watt MTL device. Instead, it’s a supersized pod system that's more like an AIO DL starter kit. In fact, it’s so supersized that it’s pretty similar in size to the VINCI Spark 220 I’m currently working on a review of, and that is a dual-18650 mod! 

The E120's internal battery is listed at 4500 mAh, it puts out up to 120 watts, and the included coils are rated for up to 80 watts. They also offer an MTL pod for this device, but only the DL one is included. The coils are replaceable and plug-n-play style. 

I’m intrigued by this device and its uniqueness, so let's see how it performs.

Build quality and design

The VINCI E120 is an impressively large rectangular pod system but it’s pretty lightweight and feels solid and well built. I love the design, mostly for the large 2.4-inch TFT color screen. It’s bright and vibrant. There is also an air slider on the left side for adjustable air, as well as a lock switch on the right side to easily lock the device. Above the lock switch are the plus and minus buttons to adjust your wattage. 

There are quite a few clock-themed backgrounds you can put on your device. However, only two are available out of the box, and you unlock the rest by vaping. They actually timegated backgrounds on a vape device! I'm not a fan of that at all, and I hope they adjust it in firmware. While it’s not a big deal, it still bothers me, especially since it’s somehow pushed as a feature on their website. They state, “unlock new screensavers, elevate your vaping time,” and it’ll take 18,000 puffs to unlock them all. This is the kind of stuff you see in F2P video games and doesn’t belong on a vape device.

They offer a total of seven color options, all of which are full-body solid colors. I got the spray black one, which sports a nice matte finish. The VOOPOO logo on the device is on the back and blends in well. They often tend to use tacky, over-the-top branding like with the original DRAG, but this one looks sleek and nice. There is also a small VOOPOO etched into the outer ring of the fire button, along with an “Everest lab” and a mountain range on the button itself. There is also a small VOOPOO VINCI on the side with the air slider. Overall, the design is simple yet functional.

Getting started

The VOOPOO VINCI E120 is a pretty basic device with power mode only and no preheat options. Basic operations are as follows:

• Click the fire button five times to turn the device on/off
• Press the fire button to vape
• Use the plus and minus buttons on the side to adjust the wattage
• Lock and unlock the device via a lock slider on the right side
• Click plus and minus at the same time to enter the menu
• In the menu, you can set the time, pick your background, and set the lock screen timer

There are two styles of pods for the VINCI E120, a DL one which is included, and an optional MTL one sold separately. The pods are removable and use the “PNP X” platform so they use the same coils as many VOOPOO tanks on the market, like the PnP X Pod tank and U-Force X tank. 

The pods have a 5 mL capacity. They are a little tinted but fully exposed, so it is easy to see the juice level. They are side-fill pods and can be refilled without being removed from the device, but I found it easier to just pop the pod out for refilling. The coils are magnetic, but they're kind of hard to remove since they sit flush, so getting them with fingernails isn’t easy. Not a big deal, but it's worth a mention.

Performance

The VINCI E120 uses the PnP X coils, so many may already be familiar. It also means that there's a lot of variety. There are seven total available: two for MTL, one for MTL/RDL, one for RDL, one for DL/RDL, and two for DL vaping. The two included in the kit are the 0.15-ohm DL rated 60-80 watts and the DL/RDL 0.3-ohm coil rated 32-40 watts. 

Personally, I found the 0.15-ohm coil best at around 75 watts with the air fully open and the 0.3-ohm coil best at around 35 watts with the air mostly closed. Both coils produced good flavor. About what you’d expect from a premade tank in a beginner kit, which is what I compare this device to. They are both long-lasting, as I've put 60 mL through each coil, and they are still good.

Very satisfied with the performance coil longevity of both coils.

Battery life and charging

The internal battery is listed at 4500 mAh, which is more battery than you could expect from a single 18650 or 2x700 mod. Most of the time, the usable mah is about 80% of the listed, so for the E120, I expected around 3600 mAh. I got 3574 mAh, so close enough. I’m not going to complain about being slightly under the expected.

The port is USB-C and it's located on the side. I found a listed charge rate of 2A, so I expected about 1.7A or higher, as most companies tend to round up. I actually got 2.3A max, and it charged over 2A the majority of the time, so it's a great rating. It does take two hours to charge though, but that's to be expected with such a large battery. It does have passthrough vaping as well (unlike many previous VOOPOO devices).

The mod shows the remaining charging time until full, but it’s a little off. It showed 99 minutes when I first plugged it in, but it took two hours to charge fully.

Overall, I am very happy with the battery specs, charge rate, and listed specs, and it's nice to see the improvement across the board.
