Sense Herakles Hydra Intro
In this article we review the brand new, Sense Hydra tank. The Hydra is made by the same makers of the impressive Herakles sub ohm tank. The Sense Hydra comes with a 1.8ohm coil as well as a 0.2ohm Ni200 coil for temperature control sub ohm vaping. The Sense Hydra has a 2ml tank and has a top filling capability. The Sense Hydra is 20mm and is the same sort of size as the Kanger Subtank Nano.
Sense Herakles Hydra Specs and Features
Vaping the 1.8ohm Sense Hydra Coil (15-50W)
We used our Innokin Disrupter and F-AQ max VG e-juice for this review.
15W – Decent vapor already, but little flavor.
20W – More vapor, and a tiny bit of flavor.
30W – Flavor much more pronounced now and a nice cool vape.
40W – Big clouds and outstanding flavor. Clouds aren’t as big obviously as the Herakles, but still impressive for such a small tank. Absolutely loving the flavor and it lives up to the Herakles in that respect.
50W – A very warm vape now, but not unbearably so. The flavor is just really outstanding. Sense have done it again and created another fantastic tasting tank!
The Sense Hydra is an outstanding little tank and the flavor is to die for. The Herakles still is one of our favorite sub ohm tanks when it comes to flavor and the Hydra is right up there with it, if not even better! I’d recommend vaping the Hydra at 40W.
Small Sized Tank
The Sense Hydra is only 20mm, which is just a touch wider than the Subtank Nano at 18.5mm. The tank itself is pretty tiny and fits nicely on top of some small box mods or tube shaped batteries. Check out the pics to see how big it is compared to the Nano and Herakles.
Sense really hit the spot with their impressive Herakles sub ohm tank when it came to flavor. The flavor on the Herakles still is one of our top rated sub ohm tanks when it comes to flavor. The Sense Hydra does not disappoint and produces outstanding which matches the Herakles. The flavor is just as good as the Herakles, if not even better!
The Sense Hydra can be filled from the top, which makes it incredibly easy to use and re-fill. The top comes off easily and we suffered no leakages whatsoever!
The Sense Hydra also comes with a 0.2ohm Ni200 sub ohm coil. The Ni200 coil needs to be used with a temperature sensing device and can’t be used on a device without temp control. We liked the fact you have this coil as an option as temperature controlled vaping is becoming more and more prevalent.
Spare Pyrex Glass
You also get a spare Pyrex glass with the Sense Hydra kit, which is a nice little touch.
Good Air Flow for Direct Lung Inhales
The air flow fully open makes for a good direct to lung style vape. On the smallest setting you get a tighter draw, but in my opinion not quite tight enough for a mouth to lung inhale.
Small Tank Capacity
When using the 1.8ohm coil at 40-50W you will get through one tank full in no time, as this tank produces good clouds. The tank is therefore nice and small, but I would have preferred a couple of ml more tank capacity.
Not Great for a Mouth to Lung Style Draw
I would have liked the smallest air flow setting to be a bit tighter, because as it stands I find it is still too loose for a mouth to lung draw. I think if they draw could be a bit tighter like on the Aspire Triton (fully closed), it would make for a fantastic mouth to lung draw which would be suited to more beginner vapers. As it stands I would use this tank to direct lung inhale.
Overall we really loved this little tank and it is really small and packs a massive punch. The flavor and clouds are outstanding and the top fill function is brilliant! It is great the Hydra comes with a Ni200 temperature control coil as well.
The one thing I would like is for the smallest air flow to be more restrictive to make for a better mouth to lung vape and then this tank would be perfect!
If you are looking for a clearomizer that produces amazing flavor and is on the smaller side, then the Hydra is a fantastic choice!
