Product intro and specs
Allow me to make a bold assertion right from the start: DOJO may end up being the most innovative disposable brand of 2025. If our recent PIXEL review was any indication, they’re not following the pack; they’re swinging for the fences with some groundbreaking ideas. The DOJO iMate X is further proof of this. With equal parts vape and smartwatch, plus a dash of fidget- and eco-friendliness, it may be the most intriguing disposable vape I’ve ever used.
The iMate X is practically a hybrid of a disposable and a prefilled vape. It features a two-piece design comprising a battery/display hub and a disposable flavor pod. Not only is the hub reusable, but it will also be compatible with upcoming DOJO releases, such as refillable and nicotine-free pods. It’s a new ecosystem with plenty of room for development, and I find that exciting.
Of course, an innovative concept means nothing if the execution and performance fall short. Did DOJO knock another one out of the park, or was it a swing and a miss? Keep reading to find out.

Size, look, and feel
Upon opening the DOJO iMate X, I got strong Off-Stamp X-CUBE and Digiflavor BRK vibes. It’s a different design, but the concept is the same: a control hub (with a display, button, and battery) that magnetically attaches to a pre-filled pod. If this is where the prefilled is headed, I’m on board. Platforms like this are more sustainable and reduce waste. The only issue is that the pods contain small batteries, so it isn’t a perfect solution.
The design is stunning, as expected by a brand that's closely related to VAPORESSO. The edges are dramatically curved, and its unassuming black or white body is accentuated by a striking pop of color running down the middle. When the two pieces are attached, it looks like a futuristic gadget from an episode of Black Mirror. It’s just so sleek, stylish, and endearing. I find myself frequently picking it up just to look at it.
While not a particularly small vape, it’s not large by today’s standards; it fits nicely in that “medium” category. And thanks to its smooth, pebble-like shape, it feels incredible in the hand. My only criticism regarding the design is the mouthpiece, which is a hard plastic rather than the soft, bite-friendly style I prefer.
Don’t think the gushing is over just yet; we haven’t even talked about the screen. It’s gorgeous! Seriously, this is next-level. The colors are incredibly sharp and vibrant, and the pictures and fonts are crystal clear. As crazy as it sounds, it may be the nicest screen of any device I own, including my entire collection of box mods. How they implemented this tech in such a low-priced product is beyond me.
The only thing lacking in the design is airflow control, which seems like an odd omission for such a fancy device. While I’m satisfied with the restrictiveness of the draw (slightly loose MTL), I’m sure others will feel differently.
Getting started

Unlike many disposables, the DOJO iMate X has a learning curve. You can puff on it right out of the box, but you should know a few things for the full experience. Here’s a quick rundown of the menu:
- Two clicks to switch modes (ECO or POWER)
- Note: the hub must be in the up position (explained below)
- Five clicks to turn the device on or off
- Long press to change wallpapers
That may sound simple enough, but it’s a bit more complicated since both the hub and the pod have batteries. The hub slides up and down the pod via magnets (DOJO refers to it as a rail mechanism). It’s a lot of fun to fidget with, but it serves a practical purpose as well:
- When in the up position, the hub acts as a power bank, charging the pod. The display also shows the remaining e-liquid level, the battery percentage of both units (after puffing), and the power mode.
- Sliding the hub down completely disengages it from the pod. Not only does this end the charging process, but it also removes the e-liquid level and power mode from the display.
How does it hit?

The DOJO iMate X is equipped with dual mesh coils and TFC technology. As I understand it, TFC automatically adjusts the power to an ideal setting that compliments each flavor. Although this sounds interesting, no detailed information is available. Is there a unique power range or curve for each flavor, or is something else at play?
Regardless of how TFC works, it does seem to impact performance. While barely noticeable, some flavors are slightly warmer than others, and some have a smoother signal when vaping (less of a “rattlesnake” sound). Still, you can’t turn TFC off, so there’s no way of knowing if it’s improving the experience.
Speaking of the experience, it’s been mostly enjoyable. The iMate X delivers a smooth, whisper-quiet vape. It’s not a punch-in-the-face type of hit; it feels more casual and relaxed, likely due to the power output. ECO mode is too light for my taste, so I tested all my devices in POWER mode. But, even with that extra boost, it’s still a somewhat mellow hit. While some may disagree, I think these devices would benefit from a 10% increase in power (or an additional output mode).
DOJO iMate X best flavors

DOJO usually delivers excellent flavors, and the iMate X is no exception. I enjoyed every flavor I tried, which doesn’t happen often. I also love that they include a small menu card that shows the cool, sweet, and sour levels for every option in the lineup. The following were my favorites:
Hawaii Dream: An aptly named blend of fresh mango and tropical fruits (possibly guava, orange, and pineapple). The mango is the star of the show, while the other flavors add a bit more depth.
Sour Apple B-Pop: This one is heavy on the sour hard candy and light on the apple, making it less ideal for fans of fresh fruit flavors. But if the name sounds good, you won’t be disappointed. The flavor profile is spot on.
Pink Lemonade: Just when I thought I was bored with pink lemonade vapes, this one pulled me back in! It’s bright and tangy with a perfect amount of sourness and cooling.
How long does it last?

The iMate hub (900 mAh) charges via a USB-C cable, but the pod section (400 mAh) must be charged through the hub. The purpose of this system is to eliminate downtime. When the hub is dead, you can detach it, plug it in, and continue vaping on the pod section in the meantime.
Note that the only way to achieve a full charge is to connect both units and put the hub in the up position while charging. The process takes almost exactly 60 minutes, which isn’t bad compared to the average disposable. Of course, the iMate X is not your average disposable. Despite primarily using POWER mode, I can go about a day and a half before both batteries are completely drained.
Regarding e-liquid consumption, the indicator decreases by approximately 31-34% between charges. So, expect to burn around one-third of the eliquid before needing to plug it in (possibly less if using ECO mode).
Pros / Cons
Pros

- Beautiful display
- Huge variety of wallpapers
- Versatility (the hub will be compatible with future releases)
- Pocket-friendly design
- Smooth airflow and responsive auto-draw
- Pass-thru charging
- Stealth mode (when hub is in the down position)

Cons
- Airflow isn’t adjustable
- An additional power level would be a big improvement
- The flavor pods contain batteries, making them less eco-friendly
- Battery status disappears while charging (must wake up device to see it)
- Hard plastic mouthpiece (I prefer the soft, bite-friendly style)

Verdict
Admittedly, I can be a harsh critic when it comes to disposables. It takes a lot to impress me. The DOJO iMate X, however, succeeded in winning me over. Not only is it one of the most innovative and versatile disposables/prefilled vapes I’ve ever used, but the build quality and design are second to none. Additionally, although I can’t speak to the entire line, the few flavors I tried didn’t disappoint.
However, despite its impressive features, the device has a few shortcomings. First of all, there is no airflow control. This would only require slightly modifying the flavor pods, so maybe we’ll see an update in future batches (fingers crossed). Also, the power output seems lacking. Most users will be fine with it, but those who vape exclusively in boost mode may find it underwhelming.
My biggest complaint isn’t so much directed at this iMate X, but rather, this device style. While the dual-battery concept has advantages, I’d prefer if manufacturers omitted the battery in the pod section. That would allow the pods to be entirely disposable; no recycling would be needed—just toss them in the trash. The smaller battery is a step in the right direction, but there's still room for improvement.
Still, the DOJO iMate X is a fantastic device with serious potential. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this ecosystem surge in popularity, especially after the release of the refillable version (iMate OS) and zero-nicotine pods (iMate CS).
Highly recommended.
