NJOY: Legacy U.S. Vape Brand with Big Tobacco Backing

NJOY is one of the earliest and most recognized U.S. vaping brands, founded in 2007 in Arizona. It played a key role in introducing e-cigarettes to the American market, initially with cigalike designs and later expanding into pod-based systems like the NJOY Ace and NJOY Daily. Known for its early advocacy of vaping as a smoking alternative, NJOY positioned itself as a consumer-focused brand prioritizing accessibility, familiarity, and regulatory compliance.

After emerging from bankruptcy in 2016, NJOY rebuilt its brand around closed-system nicotine devices, gaining renewed success with FDA premarket authorization for the NJOY Ace in 2022. In 2023, it was acquired by Altria Group, the parent company of Marlboro, marking a significant move by Big Tobacco into the independent vape sector. NJOY continues to operate as a standalone subsidiary with a focus on U.S. retail growth, regulatory stability, and harm-reduction positioning.
