7 Reasons to Use a Non-Nicotine Vape

Jeremy Mann
June 28, 2019

One of the best parts of vapes is the ability to choose your own nicotine strength. And that includes zero nicotine as an option too! Plenty of vapers begin vaping with the goal of weaning off nicotine until they reach zero; using vapes to quit smoking and nicotine. Yet, some continue vaping without nicotine even after weaning off cigarettes. Some use both nicotine and non-nicotine juice. And finally, there are vapers that have never used nicotine at all. CBD, other botanicals, or just 0 mg e-juice all fall under the umbrella of a non-nicotine vape.

There are plenty of options for non-nicotine vapes…and plenty of reasons to choose them.

Absence of nicotine’s toxicity

Unlike with e-juice that has nicotine, the ingredients in e-liquid without nicotine liquid is almost always made of food grade ingredients. If you have reason to fear spills or bottles of nic liquid getting into the wrong hands, zero nicotine e-juice would pose no known threat. Sure, someone might be allergic to one of the ingredients, but that’s just a hazard of having an allergy, not specific to vape juice.

puff bar disposable vape

Puff Bar

The Puff Bar is a slender disposable vape and one of the few with zero nicotine. The Posh disposable is great for light or heavy smokers with other the various nicotine options. Choose from a diverse menu of 15 flavors, and you can purchase 10-pack bundles of a favorite. Enjoy a vape without anything addictive.

Even though a non-nicotine vape doesn’t have the toxicity of nicotine, it’s a smart practice to keep all vapes out of the reach of children and pets—especially if there are other vapes nearby that have nicotine or other drugs. You wouldn’t want to get the two confused! Also know that the absence of nicotine’s toxicity does not mean absolute safety to inhale to your lungs. Those are actually separate matters.

Nicotine free vape pens are non-addictive

There’s no addictive substance in a zero nicotine vape.

It’s a simple truth. If nicotine is the addictive substance, potential addictiveness leaves with it. And it’s not even like the case of decaffeinated coffee that has caffeine removed. Nicotine is an additive to vapes, so it was never there to begin with. It’s just an optional ingredient.

Zaero Disposable

The Zaero disposable vape looks like the JUUL. It’s got a similar form factor except the Zaero comes with the option for zero nicotine and eight total flavors to choose from, and you never have to worry about charging. Once the battery dies, simply dispose of the device. The Posh holds 1.5 mL lasting a full day.

However, the FDA-mandated labeling requirements allow only two labels for e-juice, whether it’s got nicotine in it or not. These are the only two choices:

  1. This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
  2. This product is made from tobacco.

Both demonstrably false statements for non-nicotine vape juice. And oddly misleading and confusing to the consumer. Setting aside isolated cases of mislabeling, which happens in every industry, the fact is non-nicotine e-juice is not made from tobacco and does not contain nicotine. Therefore, it’s not chemically addictive.

You can take a nicotine break and still vape

It’s not uncommon for nicotine users to accidentally go overboard from time to time, especially when they’re just learning their limits. It’s not a comfortable feeling. It might make you temporarily lethargic, speedy, buzzed, or plain ol’ sick. But sometimes you still want to vape, even if your body is saying “no mas nicotine!”

Zero nicotine e-liquid means none. Nada! With 0 mg juice, you can keep on vaping and give your system a total break from nicotine.

Smok Nord 2 Pod vape

SMOK Nord 2

The sequel to one of the most popular vapes of 2019 is here! The SMOK Nord 2 features a 0.69-inch screen, a larger battery, and a higher power output–while coming at almost the same size as the original! The Nord 2 can be used with Nord and RPM coils and comes in 9 color options—including two with a stabwood style.

Satisfy a sweet tooth with less guilt

For a surprising number of vapers out there—and I’ve met many that say this—vaping helps them reduce mindless sugar consumption or even just snacking on empty calories. Depending on your situation, that could be beneficial to your health. Just ask a diabetic vaper how incredible it is to vape a flavor they shouldn’t actually eat. It’s a godsend! Furthermore, nicotine doesn’t have to be involved to get that benefit. Vaping without nicotine can still satisfy a sweet tooth or minimize the need to put other things in your mouth that may actually be riskier.

Nicotine-free ejuice is often on sale

A fact of the market is non-nicotine e-juice doesn’t sell as well as nicotine-based liquid. That’s why vape shop bargain bins often have several bottles of it on sale.

Beard Vape Co.

Beard Vape Co. No.71 is a mouth-watering blend of sweet and sour notes over peaches. Although the name and the packaging don’t suggest it, No.71 triggers memories of sweet peach gummy candies layered in sour dust. No.71 is a flavorful and refreshing e-liquid that holds up well to vaping with zero nicotine.

Even if you prefer vaping with nicotine, go ahead and buy that cheap bottle of nic-free juice that caught your eye. Especially if you already vape low strength juice! If you end up liking that flavor but you want it with nicotine, you can buy another bottle of that same flavor and mix the two.

For instance, if you normally vape 3 mg/mL and you bought a discounted bottle of 0 mg/mL, buy that flavor again at 6 mg/mL. Mix equal parts of them together and you’ll be at 3 mg/mL. Bullseye! It’s an amazing cost-saving hack. Depending on how cheap the discount was on the zero nic, it’s conceivable that you’d be near BOGO prices for two bottles. I’ve seen big bottles of zero nic for as cheap as a dollar.

Non-nicotine vapes are smoother on the throat

Nicotine can be felt when you vape it. Not only can you feel nicotine in your head and body, but you can also feel it when it hits your throat. It’s called “throat hit.” It’s a sensation like a thump to the throat or hit to the chest. While many vapers love that feeling and can’t vape without it, some don’t like it. Nicotine-free vape juice is smooth and barely felt when going down. The user can enjoy the flavor, warmth, and still blow out clouds, but without the nicotine sensation tickling and irritating the throat.

CBD vape pens are nicotine free

CBD vape pens look no different than vape pens with nicotine. It’s easy to lump all the devices together since they ultimately are the same. What really distinguishes vapes from one another is what goes in them…or even what doesn’t. Vaping CBD happens to be the most effective way of getting the cannabinoid in your system. Using a CBD vape pen is a smart choice when the speed of absorption matters.

I vape 0mg nic. Started with 18mg, and approximately 6 months later was down to 0. I always liked smoking as an activity and found it soothing to my nerves. However, I hated the odor and bad health risks. So I can and will continue to vape at 0mg, because it’s still soothing and I don’t crave cigarettes that way. This is my story. Lost both my parents (smokers) to cancer. In fact, my mom passed from lung cancer 1 year after I was diagnosed with cancer at 37. I am now 44, and still am fighting it. My first… Read more »

I use zero nicotine. I gave up smoking a long time ago but always wished that there was a way I could still do the smoking action without the harmful effects of burning tobacco. So when I discovered vaping existed, it catered to that need. I didn’t want to use nicotine because I didn’t want to re-addict to it.(though I know nicotine isn’t the most evil aspect of smoking) I get the feeling that people like me are looked down on in the vape community because vapers are trying to advocate vaping as a harm reduced nicotine delivery system and… Read more »

I absolutely understand that, and I think most vapers I know would be supportive of your non-nic vaping. I don’t think anyone can separate the reasons the smoking experience resonates with each person. I’ve never been sure how much of the appeal is simply in the smoking-like motions of vaping. That’s a huge part of it for me.

I like zero nicotine (I’m all about clouds and flavor, never was a smoker). I started vaping a couple months ago to try to quit dipping tobacco but after being given a bottle of 12mg juice I realize that I need more to help me quit the can. So I need to be on the lookout for a more basic MTL kit for higher nicotine and rotate my subohm with 0nic for playing around

Nice write up Jim. I’m a zero nic vapor user. I started vaping when I needed an alternative to cigs and cigars during character cosplay at conventions. I could never stand the feeling of nic at the back of my throat and the smell after a day with a cigarette was terrible. Vaping developed into a hobby for me after a short time and I became a flavor chaser. Haven’t ever started smoking because of my vape use and still don’t use nic. After a while I started to become a vape advocate and try my best to support my… Read more »

Great story! Thanks.

I vape no nic vape. I was a smoker for 15 years, but was the type of smoker that i would flat do without if it wasnt menthol and last couple years i would only smoke my brand. I turned to vaping because i had tried to quit. I even did hypnosis which worked for about 3 months but then went back to smoking. I really wasnt quitting for me though. I started my quest to quit because my boyfriend hated the smell of smoke on me. So id shower before i went to his place and didnt smoke whole… Read more »

Thanks for the interesting comments. I think a lot of people (me included) were as much addicted to the process of smoking, inhaling and exhaling, holding it in the hands, etc. I suspect nicotine isn’t *quite* as important as people think it is. That said, a lot of people (me included) like nicotine too.
