7 Reasons to Choose a Vape Without Nicotine

One of the best parts of vapes is the ability to choose your own nicotine strength. And that includes zero nicotine as an option too! Although some vapers don’t understand why someone would want to vape without nicotine, there are several reasons why people choose non-nicotine vapes.

Plenty of vapers begin vaping with the goal of weaning off nicotine until they reach zero, using vapes to quit smoking and to break the addiction to nicotine. Yet, some continue vaping without nicotine even after weaning off cigarettes, likely because of the familiarity of the hand-to-mouth action.

There are plenty of options for nicotine-free vapes…and plenty of reasons to choose them.

Get free from nicotine’s toxicity

Unlike e-juice that has nicotine, the ingredients in e-liquid without nicotine are almost always food-grade. If you have reason to fear spills or bottles of nic liquid getting into the wrong hands, zero nicotine e-juice would pose no known threat. Sure, a fraction of a minority might be allergic to one of the ingredients, but that’s just a hazard of having an allergy, and not specific to vape juice.

Avida CBD Vape Pen

Avida CBD Disposable

Avida offers their signature CBD blends in disposable format! Each vape is bursting with flavor and contains 300 mg of maximum purity pharmaceutical-grade CBD isolate. They are thoroughly tested by a third party lab for quality and consistency. The flavors range from fruits to tangy candy like mango and blue razz.

Even though a non-nicotine vape doesn’t have the toxicity of nicotine, it’s a smart practice to keep all vapes out of the reach of children and pets—especially if there are other vapes nearby that have nicotine or other drugs. You wouldn’t want to get the two confused! Also, know that the absence of nicotine’s toxicity does not mean absolute safety to inhale into your lungs. Those are actually separate matters.

Nicotine free vapes are non-addictive

There’s no addictive substance in a vape with 0 mg nicotine ejuice.

It’s a simple truth. If nicotine is the addictive substance, potential addictiveness leaves with it. And it’s not even like the case of decaffeinated coffee, where caffeine was only mostly removed. Nicotine is an additive to vapes. An optional ingredient.

However, the FDA-mandated labeling requirements allow only two labels for e-juice, whether it’s got nicotine in it or not. These are the only choices:

  1. This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
  2. This product is made from tobacco.

That’s not a joke! Both are demonstrably false statements for non-nicotine vape juice. And oddly misleading and confusing to the consumer. Imagine trying to tell your wife that you really have quit nicotine, but she reads the bold disclaimer on your e-liquid.

Setting aside isolated cases of mislabeling and manufacturing mishaps, which can happen in every industry, the fact is that non-nicotine e-juice is not made from tobacco and does not contain nicotine. Therefore it’s not chemically addictive, no matter what type of spin is put on it.

Take a nicotine break and still vape

It’s not uncommon for nicotine users to accidentally go overboard from time to time, especially when they’re just learning their limits. It’s not a comfortable feeling unless you’re into feeling dizzy. It might make you temporarily lethargic, speedy, buzzed, or plain ol’ sick. But sometimes you still want to vape, even if your body is saying “no mas nicotine!”

Zero nicotine e-liquid means none. Nada! With 0 mg juice, you can keep on vaping and give your system a total break. Take more hits without having to absorb more nicotine.

CUBE Disposable vape pen

CUBE Zero

The CUBE disposables have a nicotine-free option, which is very rare in the world of disposable vapes. Each CUBE device holds 11 mL of e-liquid and features adjustable airflow and a large battery that lasts for over 3000 puffs. CUBE disposables come in 20 flavors and are also available in 5% nicotine strength.

Satisfy a sweet tooth without guilt

For a surprising number of vapers out there—and I’ve met many that say this—vaping helps them reduce mindless sugar consumption or even just snacking in general. Depending on your situation, that could be beneficial to your health—not vaping itself, but not mindlessly eating.

Ask a diabetic vaper how incredible it is to vape a flavor they can’t safely eat! Furthermore, nicotine doesn’t have to be involved to get that benefit. Vaping sweet flavors without nicotine can still satisfy cravings, in arguably a safer way than eating sugar. Of course, there may be unknown risks to vaping nicotine-free ejuice, but the devastating health effects of sugar are facts.

Nicotine-free ejuice is often on clearance

A fact of the market is non-nicotine e-juice doesn’t sell as well as nicotine-based liquid. That’s why vape shop bargain bins often have several bottles of it on sale.

Beard Vape Co.

Beard Vape Co. No.71 is a mouth-watering blend of sweet and sour notes over peaches. Although the name and the packaging don’t suggest it, No.71 triggers memories of sweet peach gummy candies layered in sour dust. No.71 is a flavorful and refreshing e-liquid that holds up well to vaping with zero nicotine.

Even if you prefer vaping with nicotine, go ahead and buy that cheap bottle of nic-free juice that caught your eye. Especially if you already vape low-strength juice! If you end up liking that flavor, but you want it with nicotine, you can buy another bottle of that same flavor and mix the two.

For instance, if you normally vape 3 mg/mL and you bought a discounted bottle of 0 mg/mL, buy that flavor again at 6 mg/mL. Mix equal parts of them together, and you’ll be at 3 mg/mL. Bullseye! It’s an amazing cost-saving hack. Depending on how cheap the discount was on the zero nic, it’s conceivable that you’d be near BOGO prices for two bottles. I’ve seen big bottles of zero nic for as cheap as a dollar.

Nicotine-free vapes are smoother

Nicotine can be felt when you vape it. Not only can you feel nicotine in your head and body, but you can also feel it when it hits your throat. It’s called “throat hit.” It’s a sensation like a thump to the throat or a hit to the chest. While many vapers love that feeling and can’t vape without it, some don’t like it. Nicotine-free vape juice is smooth and barely felt when going down. The user can enjoy the flavor and warmth and still blow out clouds, but without the nicotine sensation tickling and irritating the throat.

You’ll have more options

There are other things to vape besides nicotine ejuice or even nicotine-free ejuice. For example, CBD and other cannabis products come in vape pens and look no different than vape pens with nicotine. It’s also possible to vape legal herbs and botanicals.

What really separates vapes is what goes in them…or even what doesn’t. Most CBD that gets vaped consists of CBD isolate, PG/VG, and flavors. Zero nicotine e-juice is the exact same thing minus the CBD. Same flavors and same PG/VG. CBD vape juice is like nicotine-free vape juice with added cbd, despite the perception that it’s a totally different thing.

So if you’re able to get past the idea of vaping always involving nicotine, you’ll increase your options of products to try. Just use good judgment when choosing, and steer clear of novelty products promising miracle cures with ridiculous supposed health benefits.

I'm a freelance reviewer here at Vaping360 and I reside in southeast Michigan. I've been vaping since my first ecig purchase in 2010. For more reasons than I can list, vaping has been a lifesaver for me. Now, my goal is to help other smokers make the switch.

I use zero nicotine. I gave up smoking a long time ago but always wished that there was a way I could still do the smoking action without the harmful effects of burning tobacco. So when I discovered vaping existed, it catered to that need. I didn’t want to use nicotine because I didn’t want to re-addict to it.(though I know nicotine isn’t the most evil aspect of smoking) I get the feeling that people like me are looked down on in the vape community because vapers are trying to advocate vaping as a harm reduced nicotine delivery system and… Read more »

I absolutely understand that, and I think most vapers I know would be supportive of your non-nic vaping. I don’t think anyone can separate the reasons the smoking experience resonates with each person. I’ve never been sure how much of the appeal is simply in the smoking-like motions of vaping. That’s a huge part of it for me.

I like zero nicotine (I’m all about clouds and flavor, never was a smoker). I started vaping a couple months ago to try to quit dipping tobacco but after being given a bottle of 12mg juice I realize that I need more to help me quit the can. So I need to be on the lookout for a more basic MTL kit for higher nicotine and rotate my subohm with 0nic for playing around

Nice write up Jim. I’m a zero nic vapor user. I started vaping when I needed an alternative to cigs and cigars during character cosplay at conventions. I could never stand the feeling of nic at the back of my throat and the smell after a day with a cigarette was terrible. Vaping developed into a hobby for me after a short time and I became a flavor chaser. Haven’t ever started smoking because of my vape use and still don’t use nic. After a while I started to become a vape advocate and try my best to support my… Read more »

I vape 0mg nic. Started with 18mg, and approximately 6 months later was down to 0. I always liked smoking as an activity and found it soothing to my nerves. However, I hated the odor and bad health risks. So I can and will continue to vape at 0mg, because it’s still soothing and I don’t crave cigarettes that way. This is my story. Lost both my parents (smokers) to cancer. In fact, my mom passed from lung cancer 1 year after I was diagnosed with cancer at 37. I am now 44, and still am fighting it. My first… Read more »

This industry suffers from much more important and “off news” problems. It can and typically will always be argued much like other ” 18 or 21+ ” age restricted industries if it has a place or should be allowed. The truth behind that is nothing more then money. States have seen financial assistance from big tobacco for decades that at one point was designed to offset health related costs for non insured patients in hospitals due to tobacco use. The fact that vaping isn’t sending droves of sick people to the hospitals or other health care facilitates is the truth… Read more »
