ZOVOO DRAGBAR Z700 SE Review: A Slim Chance

Jeremy Mann

Product intro and specs

The new DRAGBAR Z700 SE from ZOVOOxVOOPOO is a disposable nicotine vape coming in a super slim-form factor that features a fully visible juice reservoir. And each purchase of the DRAGBAR Z700 SE comes in a box with 2 x DRAGBAR Z700 SE devices.

The device is effectively a reboot of the DRAGBAR Z700 GT, which was similar minus the visible juice reservoir. That may not seem like a big deal, but for anyone that's used a disposable before, the ability to fully see your juice levels is a huge benefit.

The DRAGBAR Z700 SE features a GENE TREE ceramic coil technology designed to produce consistent flavor and up to 700 puffs. It's TRPR/TPD compliant, housing only 2 mL of eliquid at 20 mg/mL. With 50 flavors to choose from, the slim and sleek DRAGBAR Z700 SE seems like it's got what it takes to be a solid-performing disposable. Let's see about that.

Price: TBD

Flavors: Blue razz ice, green apple ice, drag bull ice, strawberry banana, triple melon, lemon lime, blueberry pomegranate, and many more.

Size, look, and feel

If you like a slim form factor and lightweight vapes, the ZOVOO and VOOPOO designed this device with you in mind. With a thickness of just 9 mm, and weighing 20 grams, the DRAGBAR Z700 SE can sit in your pocket or purse (which it looks like belongs in) without you even knowing. Unfortunately, that's not exactly a good thing, as I'll explain shortly.

The DRAGBAR Z700 SE comes with a fully visible juice window. For disposables, this is a huge plus, because the vast majority of them do not have a juice window. Being able to see your juice levels should (theoretically) make it more unlikely that you'll get a dry hit. Or, at the very least, you can know with certainty that your device is empty.

The overall aesthetic of the device is great; it's a pleasure to look at. The glossy body with the transparent mouthpiece (that houses the juice reservoir) is high-quality product design. But there's one issue with it: if left in a pocket and you go to sit down, the mouthpiece can easily snap off, leaving the contents to empty out in your pocket. This happened to me the first day I left the house with the DRAGBAR Z700 SE.

Getting started

The DRAGBAR Z700 SE is a non-rechargeable disposable without airflow control, which means there's nothing more to getting started besides removing the device from the package. There is a sticker around the mouthpiece/juice reservoir and plugs in the top/bottom to be removed, but other than that, puff when ready.

How does it hit?

According to ZOVOO/VOOPOO, "compared with ordinary cotton coils, the Gene Tree ceramic coil has fuller and more uniform atomization." Also, this specific tech is supposed to eliminate spitting and popping from the coil.

The hit of the DRAGBAR Z700 SE is a tight and silent MTL. There's no spitting or popping. Originally, I was sent some of these disposables that had an issue with getting juice in the mouth. Apparently, that's been solved, because the next batch I was shipped didn't have that problem.

However, there's still something off with the device. The hits taste overheated for the coil resistance (though it's not a hot vape), and the vape feels like it's on the brink of a dry hit, or it just flat-out gives a dry hit. It's not that way with every unit I tried, but it's been that way with more than not.

DRAGBAR Z700 SE best flavors

I was sent two shipments. This is referencing the first batch. With the second batch, the problem is that they're pretty much un-vapeable—unless I'm in the mood for dry ceramic flavor.

For the Z700s that weren't tasting dry from the first batch, the flavors were fairly good. It's sad that the device isn't performing well, because the flavors smell amazing. Here are a few of my favorites.

Banana ice

This was my favorite of the first shipment. The banana has a banana flavor that's a cross between baked and candy. It's a flavorful banana topped off with moderate cooling. It's called "ice," but it's not overly cold.

Strawberry banana

A pleasant fruity flavor that also fits in the dessert category with these particular flavors. It's easy to identify both the banana and the strawberry, and the aroma is enticing. It's moderately sweet, with the banana being the most prominent flavor. Minimally cool on the inhale.

Blue razz

A tart vape that actually smells and tastes like raspberry. It's minimally sweet and faintly cool. A typical but decent blue razz.

How long do they last?

For a TRPR/TPD compliant device, you're not going to get a lot. These devices also go through juice quickly. The GENE TREE atomization is supposed to increase the puff count, but I was able to finish a DRAGBAR Z700 in half a day. Of course, since the device is not rechargeable, how long it lasts only applies to the juice. Was I able to get 700 puffs? It's doubtful, but I also take long drags.

Verdict

Despite my negative experience with the DRAGBAR Z700 SE, I think it has the makings of a really good disposable. The large assortment of flavors, the slim form factor, the tight and silent MTL draw, and the fully visible juice window are great features for a disposable... but without a reliable hit that doesn't taste dry, no other features matter.

I think that if the resistance was to increase a tad, maybe the vape wouldn't feel like it was so close to burning. I don't know what could be done to increase the durability of the device, though. The issue with it breaking in your pocket is a problem—that's not misuse, but typical behavior when using a disposable. But even with that durability issue not being fixed, I'd still be able to recommend it as long as ZOVOO is able to fix the issue with the dry hits.

Not recommended.
