NIIN nicotine pouches review
NIIN nicotine pouches are 5-gram portions made with tobacco-free nicotine. At 5 grams, they're twice the weight of the ON! pouches. There are five flavors: cinnamon, citrus chill, cool mint, wintergreen, and spearmint.
The pouches come in the typical plastic cans, with an onboard storage for used pouches like a few other brands. Luckily, the cans don't have any "trick" to get them open beyond the initial breaking of the seal around the can. Got nails?
There are 20 NIIN nicotine pouches in each can, and they come in 3 mg and 6 mg nicotine concentrations. You can buy them on the NIIN website and Nicokick.
NIIN flavors
The NIIN nicotine pouches flavors are mostly on the mild side. But there were some surprises for me. Normally I don't like mint flavors too much, but I really enjoyed those in this line.
Citrus Chill
Unlike the citrus from ON!, I don't have to strain to taste it. There's a pleasantly aromatic lime and subtly sweet citrus taste that please me. It’s mild, but still tasty. I only wish it gave up more flavor. The “chill” isn’t all that cold either, but that’s fine by me.
Cinnamon
This is a decent cinnamon. It tastes a bit like cinnamon gum, but after it’s been chewed awhile. I'd use this in a pinch, but mostly with a one-track mind: nicotine.
Wintergreen
It's exactly what it says. There are no off tastes. It's a straightforward wintergreen. Dare I say, “clean tasting.”
Cool Mint
Not quite peppermint, but close. My grandfather would've liked these. From the whole line, cool mint gives up the most flavor just sitting in the cheek. I find myself "getting the flavor" a lot more with this one. Not my favorite flavor per se—that would be citrus chill—but I like using this one the most.
Spearmint
Another good mint with a fair amount of flavor. It's got that fresh spearmint aroma, and like the cool mint, it puts out good flavor as it sits.
Overall experience
These pouches are better than I thought when I first tried them. See, NIIN pouches are moist, but they get stuck together a lot. This is not unique to NIIN though. But it can be odd for the first time to see pouches stuck together. No, they’re not stale.
For those used to the small size of ON!, these might take some getting used to since they're 2x the size. I didn't think I'd like the large size, but they're much easier to handle in the mouth, and they don't get bent out of shape like mini pouches.
The nicotine in NIIN is tobacco-free nicotine (TFN), but it doesn't feel any different to me. I had to keep reminding myself that there was something different that I was to pay attention to. Although I'm personally not a fan of vaping TFN, it's a non-issue in these pouches.
The citrus chill, cool mint, and spearmint were my favorites. The mint flavors last the longest; from about 30-40 minutes. They get progressively flavorful, maybe due to their size, as opposed to mini pouches that start out lively and taper off quickly.
