Innokin has announced two major leadership changes within six days, with co-founder George Xia leaving both the chairmanship and his operational role at the Shenzhen-based vape manufacturer.

The company first announced on July 10 that Xia Haoran, known internationally as George Xia, had ceased serving as chairman following an extraordinary meeting of Innokin’s board of directors. Li Gen was appointed as the company’s new chairman, while Innokin identified Cui Tao as its general manager and legal representative.

A second extraordinary board meeting followed on July 16, after which Innokin announced that Xia had also ceased serving as deputy general manager in charge of business operations. The company said Cui would temporarily administer those operations, but it did not explain why the changes were made or whether Xia would retain any other position within Innokin.

Two extraordinary board meetings in six days

The speed and sequence of the announcements make the changes appear more significant than a routine administrative update. On July 10, Xia left the chairmanship, replaced by Li Gen. Six days later, he also left the executive role responsible for business operations, with those duties transferred temporarily to Cui Tao. Neither notice says whether Xia resigned, was removed, or agreed to leave the positions as part of a broader reorganization.

Innokin also provided no timetable for the temporary management arrangement and no description of how responsibilities will be divided between Li as chairman and Cui as general manager. The announcements are extremely brief, even by the standards of corporate notices. They leave the company’s staff, partners, and customers with the changes themselves but almost none of the reasoning behind them.

Why George Xia’s departure matters

George Xia was not an obscure director whose involvement was limited to company filings. Innokin has repeatedly described him in its own materials as a co-founder and vice president. For years, he was one of the most visible public representatives of the company. He appeared in official announcements, hosted visiting industry representatives at Innokin’s Shenzhen headquarters, commented on product developments and awards, and spoke publicly about the company’s direction.

Innokin was founded in 2011, and Xia’s association with the business stretches back to its earliest years. His departure from two of the company’s highest-ranking positions within less than a week is therefore a significant change, regardless of whether it ultimately proves to be part of an orderly succession or a more difficult internal restructuring.

Cui Tao moves to the center of Innokin’s operations

Cui Tao is also a long-standing Innokin executive rather than a newly recruited outsider. An Innokin article from 2019 identified him as director of strategic resources. More recent industry appearances described him as the company’s strategy director or director of innovation, strategy, and compliance. He represented Innokin in discussions about regulation, product innovation, and the company’s Trine platform before becoming general manager and legal representative.

The July announcements now place him in temporary control of business operations as well. That history suggests a degree of internal continuity despite the leadership shake-up. However, Innokin has not said when Cui became general manager or whether his temporary operational responsibilities could eventually become permanent.

Little is publicly known about new chairman Li Gen

The announcement provides almost no background on Li Gen. Unlike Xia and Cui, Li has not been a visible spokesperson in Innokin’s English-language news releases, product launches, or international industry appearances. Innokin simply states that he has been appointed chairman and will perform the chairman’s duties in accordance with applicable laws.

The lack of a biography or accompanying explanation makes it difficult to judge whether his appointment represents a promotion from within the existing ownership and board structure, the beginning of a wider management reset, or something else entirely. It also means that, at least publicly, Innokin’s operational and outward-facing leadership now appears to rest more heavily with Cui than with the company’s newly named chairman.

The changes follow a quieter period for Innokin

The leadership reshuffle comes after a relatively quiet period in Innokin’s public communications. The company was once among the industry’s most visible hardware manufacturers. Its prominent product families include the Endura, Coolfire, Zenith, Klypse, and Platform Series. However, Innokin’s official newsroom has not maintained the same cadence of major product announcements in the last two years.

Its most recent newsroom post before the July notices was published in April 2025, announcing that Innokin, Phil Busardo, and Dimitris Agrafiotis had mutually agreed to end their exclusive working relationship and move forward independently. Innokin attributed that decision to the rapidly changing market and said it would continue developing the Platform Series, supporting users of its Z and PZP coils, and releasing new products.

There is no evidence of a connection between the 2025 separation and the current leadership changes. Still, it was another notable change involving people closely associated with Innokin’s product development and public identity.

Innokin has continued releasing products

It would not be accurate to say that Innokin stopped releasing hardware during this period. A cross-check of Innokin’s catalog, retail listings, product reviews, launch announcements, and Vaping360’s own database shows a considerable number of products introduced in 2025. These included the Endura V Box, Endura V Pro, Coolfire Z80 NEX, NE-MO, Coolfire P60, Plexus Pro, Plexus Go, EZ LEVA, KWIK 35K, Zenith Minimal, Klypse Plus, and Foretex.

Some release dates differ slightly between initial announcements, review samples, and wider retail availability. Still, all of those products appeared publicly in 2025 or entered broader distribution around the turn of the year. The Plexus Pro and Plexus Go, for example, were formally announced in October 2025, while the Foretex was recorded as a December release and began receiving published reviews in January 2026.

Innokin has also launched or unveiled several products in 2026. The Zenith II Pro arrived in the spring, followed by the Coolfire Z Air and the wider retail appearance of the Klypse Plus. The new GOZEE NEX was unveiled in July and has begun appearing in Innokin’s official channels and selected retailers, although availability is still expanding in some markets.

It seems the company has released more hardware than its unusually quiet newsroom might suggest. Much of that activity has instead appeared through product pages, social channels, reviewers, distributors, and retailers rather than through the kind of coordinated company news announcements Innokin used more frequently in earlier years.

Product activity is not the same as product momentum

The more defensible criticism is not that Innokin has released nothing, but that many recent products have generated less industry attention than the company’s historically important launches. A large portion of Innokin’s latest catalogue consists of new versions or extensions of existing families: the Coolfire Z80 NEX, Coolfire P60, Coolfire Z Air, Endura V Pro, Endura V Box, Zenith II Pro, Klypse Plus, and GOZEE NEX all build on platforms already associated with the brand.

There have also been genuinely new product names, including the Foretex, NE-MO, and KWIK. However, none has yet become as iconic for the brand as products like the Endura, Coolfire, or Zenith were during the company’s stronger periods. That is partly subjective, but it helps explain why Innokin may appear to have been less active even when the raw number of product listings tells a different story.

There is also a noticeable gap between product output and corporate communication. Innokin’s current website gives prominent placement to the GOZEE NEX, Coolfire Z Air, Zenith II Pro, Foretex, Klypse Plus, and EZ LEVA. Yet, the company’s newsroom has published no dedicated product-launch article since the Trine announcements in January 2024.

A quieter marketing strategy does not necessarily indicate weaker operations, but it makes the company’s direction harder to read from the outside. It also means significant internal announcements, such as the two July leadership notices, stand out more sharply against an otherwise subdued stream of corporate news.

What the announcements do and do not tell us

The two notices confirm a substantial transfer of authority, but they do not establish that Innokin is insolvent, preparing to close, being sold, or withdrawing from the vaping market. Neither announcement mentions financial problems, layoffs, factory changes, ownership transfers, creditor action, or disruption to production and distribution. We found no credible public report confirming any of those possibilities.

Leadership changes of this scale can happen for many reasons, including succession planning, disagreements over strategy, changes in ownership influence, or an attempt to improve commercial performance. At present, attaching any one of those explanations to Innokin would be speculation.

There are nevertheless reasonable questions for the company to answer. Innokin has not said whether George Xia remains a director, shareholder, adviser, or employee. It has not explained why his two positions were addressed through separate board meetings only six days apart. Also, there has been no clarification of how long Cui Tao is expected to oversee business operations temporarily, or what experience Li Gen brings to the chairmanship. Lastly, it remains unclear whether the new structure will affect product development, international distribution, staffing, or relationships with commercial partners. Given Xia’s status as a co-founder and the company’s increasingly low-key public profile, those are not trivial details.

Innokin appears to be entering a new phase

For now, the clearest conclusion is that Innokin remains active but is undergoing a significant change at the top. Products are still being developed and released, including multiple devices introduced during 2025 and several more in 2026. The available evidence does not support describing the company as inactive or disappearing.

At the same time, the removal of a co-founder from two senior roles, the temporary transfer of business operations, the appointment of a little-known new chairman, and the absence of any explanation point to a company in transition. Whether that transition is a routine succession, a response to weaker commercial performance, or the beginning of a broader restructuring will remain unclear until Innokin provides more information.
