Product intro and specs

The fifth generation of XROS pod vapes was my favorite in the series. The devices were incredible, and the upgraded COREX 3.0 pods provided a notable performance boost. So when the VAPORESSO XROS 6 and XROS 6 MINI arrived, I was excited to see what the new generation had to offer. However, I was also skeptical. At first glance, it didn’t seem like much had changed.

Of course, appearances don’t paint the full picture. Both devices feature larger batteries for a significant increase in runtime. The XROS 6 MINI also gains boost mode, a major upgrade that many vapers will appreciate. While the series still uses the COREX 3.0 pods, it also introduces VAPORESSO’s new VENTURI airflow system.

So, are the changes meaningful enough to justify an upgrade? Let’s dig in and find out.

XROS 6 Price: $29.99 (at Element Vape)

XROS 6 Colors: Cosmic black, abyssal blue, slate black, carbon fiber gray, silk green, silk gray, silk brown, pearl white, dreamy pink, scorching cloud, aurora blue

XROS 6 MINI Price: $21.99 (at Element Vape)

XROS 6 MINI Colors: Black, brown, titanium black, titanium silver, plume white, plume pink, plume blue, jelly green, jelly pink, jelly blue, jelly orange

Build quality and design

The inaugural XROS devices are VAPORESSO’s signature products, so they always put a lot of care into the construction. The XROS 6 is no exception. The design is fairly traditional: a semi-glossy chassis accented by plastic panels. The panels on my pink version have an iridescent finish. Under direct light, the color hues shift and become more vibrant, and subtle wave patterns become more pronounced. Soft pink may not be my color of choice, but these are pretty interesting.

Like the previous version, the outer perimeter of the XROS 6 (and the 6 MINI) is indented like a trench. This unassuming design choice isn’t just for aesthetics; it also prevents the button and airflow slider from protruding, reducing the chance of accidental adjustments. However, this seems unlikely anyway, as the button is quite firm and the slider has perfect tension.

The screen may appear considerably larger than the V5, but it’s actually the same size (0.88 inches). The XROS 5 used an edge-to-edge display that extended into the rounded corners. The XROS 6 places the entire rectangular display (corners included) within the oval bezel, making the screen area appear larger. The redesign does provide more real estate, though, so the layout looks much cleaner than before.

Aside from a few features, the XROS 6 MINI’s design perfectly mirrors the full-sized version. It’s 11 mm shorter and features an LED indicator rather than a screen, making for an incredibly stealthy device. The dimensions are almost identical to 2025’s 5 MINI, but it got a few upgrades, including a major addition that we’ll cover next.

Getting started

Let’s start with the XROS 6 MINI, as it’s the most beginner-friendly. Crack open the top section of the pod, fill it, wait five minutes, and vape. You can also use the airflow slider to dial in your preferred draw. And, yes, both versions feature a pinhole option for MTL vapers, which is a massive pro for me.

But that’s not all. The XROS 6 MINI may be a simple device, but it’s also quite clever. It features a hidden LED indicator that illuminates when you puff or insert a pod. The lights display the battery level in five stages (the previous version had only four), as well as the power mode. Which brings us to the device’s biggest upgrade: power adjustments. Just take two puffs within one second to switch from ECO mode (pulsing lights) to POWER mode (cascading lights).

Moving on to the more advanced XROS 6, here’s a brief click summary:

  • One click to wake up the screen or fire (if button-firing is selected)
  • Two clicks to access menu (theme, prime coil, lock, animations on/off, puff clear, button on/off)
  • Three clicks to change the power
  • Four clicks to lock or unlock the device (auto-draw remains active)
  • Five clicks to power on/off
  • Hold the button for three seconds to start the coil-priming timer
  • Take two puffs within one second to change modes (if quick draw is selected)

Note: you must click and hold the button to lock in your menu selection.

As with the fourth and fifth generations of XROS devices, adjustable wattage is not available with most pods. Unless you’re using a 0.4-ohm pod (not included), you’re stuck with three options: ECO, NORMAL, and POWER. I know this bothers some users, but I honestly don’t mind at all. I’ve never vaped an XROS pod in POWER mode and wished for an extra watt or two. For me, the levels are perfect; for others, maybe not.

I should also note that both devices offer 60-second coil priming. However, there doesn’t seem to be any technology at play (aside from a timer in XROS 6’s menu). It’s likely that the coils just prime extremely fast. I drew this assumption from the MINI’s user manual, which states: “wait 1 minute for the coil to prime.” The device itself isn’t involved in the process.

Performance

The COREX 3.0 pods included with the XROS 6 and 6 MINI are mostly the same as the previous generation. However, VAPORESSO implemented a new “VENTURI” airflow system, which they claim produces a smoother draw. Aside from that, most XROS fans already know what to expect in terms of performance. Here are my impressions after two weeks of use.

0.6-ohm pod: I filled this one with a tobacco liquid (50/50 freebase) that I’ve been vaping for months in various setups. The flavor from the 0.6-ohm pod may have been the best I experienced in that stretch. One night after taking a puff, I casually said, “That’s so good!” And that may be the biggest stamp of approval a reviewer can offer—uttering praise and astonishment behind closed doors. Granted, I’ve vaped plenty of these pods in the past, but I sometimes forget how great they are.

0.8-ohm pod: For this pod, I went with a 50/50 nic salt. Much like the other variation, the flavor was phenomenal. In my opinion, it’s one of the best-performing 0.8-ohm pods, right up there with the XLIM and NeXLIM versions. Unfortunately, I started getting burnt hits after about 9 mL. I have never had a COREX 3.0 pod fail so quickly, but it’s just the luck of the draw. Sometimes pods are defective. In stark contrast, my 0.6-ohm pod is still performing like a champ after 42 mL.

Regarding the VENTURI airflow system, I don’t personally notice much of a difference from previous versions. It’s undoubtedly smooth and quiet, but that has always been my experience with the COREX 3.0 series. I’m sure there are subtle differences, but I wouldn’t consider it a major selling point.

Battery life and charging

Although the battery capacities differ (1800 and 1600 mAh), the charging and usage times were comparable in my testing. A full charge requires about an hour: 54 minutes for the XROS 6, and 60 minutes for the XROS 6 MINI. The runtime was especially impressive. Using the same pod, I averaged 9 mL per charge for the MINI (POWER mode) and 9.2 mL for the full-size version (NORMAL mode). That’s the most usage I’ve ever recorded for 1600 and 1800 mAh batteries.

Interestingly, though, the recharge capacity of both batteries was less than expected. I measured the MINI at 1187 mAh and the XROS 6 at 1383 mAh. Yet they somehow exceeded expectations with real-world use. It’s possible that the excellent runtime could be due to board efficiency or cell chemistry. I don’t know. The point is, they’ve got it where it counts.

I do have two minor complaints regarding the XROS 6’s battery and charging displays. First, the battery percentage isn’t consistent. Once it reaches 20%, I can only get through another 0.3 mL of e-liquid before hitting 0%. Second, the charging display’s “time remaining” estimate isn’t very accurate. For example, it took over 40 minutes to finish charging after showing 30 minutes remaining.

Pros / Cons

Verdict

These devices were clearly not designed to shake things up and tread new territory. The fourth and fifth generations did that, but you can only take the technology so far. The fact is, the VAPORESSO XROS 6 and XROS 6 MINI are outstanding performers with very few flaws. When you’re building on a near-perfect product, major changes aren’t necessary.

Most of my cons are nitpicks, but some are worth noting. The accelerated battery drop-off after 20% is quite noticeable, but also very common. Also, the time-remaining estimate while charging can be misleading. Yes, the overrated batteries were also disappointing, but the runtime was superb. 9 mL per charge surpasses every 1600-1800 mAh pod vape I’ve tested.

The XROS 6 and XROS 6 MINI are worthy successors to the series. They refine the platform with meaningful improvements, including boost mode (MINI version) and enhanced runtime. Plus, they offer the performance and reliability that the series has built its reputation on. They’re not essential upgrades for XROS 5 owners, but they’re easy recommendations for anyone shopping for a new pod vape. I’ll certainly be keeping them in my rotation for the foreseeable future.

Highly recommended.
