Cyclone Pods Gust Core

The Cyclone Gust Core 50K is one of the best nicotine-free disposable vapes we’ve tested, delivering warm, flavorful vapor in nine well-crafted flavors. It features three power levels, pass-through charging, 18 mL e-liquid capacity, an OLED display, and an 850 mAh battery. Cyclone Pods also publishes independent lab testing results for the e-liquid formulations.

Product intro and specs

The Cyclone Pods Gust Core 50K is the third device I’ve reviewed from the company. While I’ve had great experiences with their other nicotine-free vapes, I initially wondered how this one would fit into the family. The Gust Pro featured adjustable ice levels, and the Lightning offered replaceable pods and an extremely compact design. Is there any other ground to cover?

As it turns out, yes. Cyclone Pods seems to mix and match features across products to suit different tastes. The Gust Core isn’t just another disposable vape; it fills the gaps in the lineup. It’s bigger than the Lightning, but smaller than the Pro. It doesn’t offer adjustable ice levels or replaceable pods, but it adds a third power level and pass-through charging. And if longevity is a concern, this device offers the highest advertised puff count in the family.

The Gust Core may strike a balance between its siblings, but do those trade-offs translate to a superior device? Let’s find out.

Price: $25.00 (at Cyclone Pods)

Flavors: Blue razz ice, cherry fizz, clear, bold tobacco, strawberry banana, dragonfruit lemonade, mint, strawberry kiwi, white gummy ice

Size, look, and feel

The Gust Core fits perfectly in the Cyclone Pods family. It features the traditional smooth, glossy white plastic body, curved edges, and basic branding. At first glance, it looks a lot like the Gust Pro, but the differences are obvious side by side.

The first major difference is the body design. The Pro has a thin front faceplate that snaps into the body, which you can sometimes feel with your lips when vaping. In contrast, the Core has two halves that lock together in the middle like puzzle pieces, eliminating the rough edges. It’s a big improvement.

The Gust Core is also shorter and slimmer than the Gust Pro. It’s still a bit chunky, but it’s undeniably sleeker and feels nice in the hand. Lastly, it has a standard, bite-friendly mouthpiece rather than the supersoft style found on Cyclone’s other devices. It’s very comfortable, but I prefer the softer version.

Overall, the build quality may not be particularly impressive, but it matches most disposables. My only criticism is one I’ve mentioned before: I’d appreciate some subtle texture for grip. Maybe we’ll see that on future releases, but for now, Cyclone Pods seems to prioritize the clean aesthetic.

Getting started

Using the Cyclone Gust Core is easy, but there is a trick to getting started. After removing the mouthpiece plug and the bottom sticker, click the button three times to activate the device. This step is also clearly printed on the packaging. It’s a one-time procedure; triple-clicking again won’t turn the device off or on.

After activation, the bright color display shows the liquid percentage, power mode, and battery level. Press the button to cycle through the three power settings, then inhale when you’re ready to vape. Like Cyclone’s other vapes, the Gust Core does not offer airflow control. We’ll discuss how that affects the draw in the next section.

How does it hit?

Based on past experiences, I would’ve been shocked if the Gust Core’s performance was anything less than exceptional. Once again, Cyclone Pods delivered. The hit is just as good as their other devices: warm (on the highest power setting), saturated, and flavorful, with nearly instant draw activation. While the airflow is non-adjustable, the semi-restricted MTL draw is smooth and suits me fine. Of course, not everyone will feel that way.

The Gust Core may not offer adjustable ice levels, but it has three power settings to adjust warmth and intensity. Still, getting a defined throat hit depends heavily on flavor selection. Mint and Dragonfruit Lemonade were standouts in this regard. Strawberry Banana and Strawberry Kiwi were also surprisingly effective.

Cyclone Pods Gust Core best flavors

The Cyclone Gust Core is available in nine flavors. The menu includes a variety of fruit blends, plus options like Clear, Bold Tobacco, and Mint, covering a decent range of user preferences. It’s a small lineup, but it’s almost entirely distinct from the Gust Pro (only two flavors overlap). So between the two lines, you’ve got plenty of options.

The following were my favorites:

Strawberry Kiwi: It’s a simple blend, but the flavor itself is somewhat complex. I taste light, smooth strawberry with a hint of tart kiwi and a somewhat chalky finish. If Smarties candy had a strawberry kiwi flavor, I imagine it’d taste like this. It’s absolutely delicious and could be an easy all-day vape for me.

Dragonfruit Lemonade: Instead of the typical pink lemonade, Cyclone Pods opted for something more adventurous. And I’m grateful for that! This combo didn’t get an immediate ‘Wow!’ from me; instead, it left me contemplating what I’d just tasted. Ultimately, it works! The lemonade component is excellent, and the dragonfruit is unique enough to keep things from getting boring.

Strawberry Banana: While not my usual flavor profile, this version may have reinvigorated my appreciation for strawberry banana vapes. It’s a super ripe, creamy banana blended with a handful of sweet strawberries and a touch of cooling. The balance here is impressive—neither fruit dominates the other. Fantastic dessert vape.

Mint: This one won’t be for everyone; Miami Mint fans, in particular, may be disappointed. It’s a straightforward peppermint-and-spearmint blend, with a cool, dry finish and little sweetness. The intensity and simplicity remind me of a classic mint candy—the grainy, fast-dissolving type that makes your mouth feel like an igloo. If you want a back-to-basics mint flavor, this is it.

According to Cyclone Pods, its e-liquids contain only USP-grade VG and PG and food-grade flavorings. They also undergo independent testing for heavy metals, vitamin E acetate, pesticides, diacetyl, and other contaminants. My understanding is that this testing covers the liquid formulations, not the aerosol that users inhale. Clean e-liquid doesn’t necessarily mean clean vapor. The testing certainly offers some peace of mind, but it does not indicate that these vapes are risk-free.

How long does it last?

Cyclone Pods markets the Gust Core’s battery as 850 mAh and says it charges in under an hour. In my testing, those claims held up well (and I don’t get to say that often enough!). I measured 897 mAh going into the device during a full recharge, and the charge time was 50 minutes at around 1.05 amps.

A full charge easily lasts me a full day. That’s typical with many disposables, but it’s notable here since I tend to puff nicotine-free vapes more often. Also, unlike the Cyclone Lightning and Pro, the Core offers pass-through charging, which is a massive upgrade.

Like many disposable vapes, the e-liquid level indicator on the display may not be especially reliable. Using the same power setting on two devices, the percentages differed significantly when the battery was dead: 75% and 95%. The latter was an outlier, though, so it may be a defect. My other devices average around 25% of the liquid per charge at max power. That rate could fluctuate as the level drops, but I can’t comment since I haven’t vaped one dry yet.

One aspect of the Gust Core makes me raise my eyebrows. It’s rated for 50K puffs and contains 18 mL of e-liquid. On the other hand, the Gust Pro has 15 mL of e-liquid and a 6 mL ice tank, but it’s rated for only 20K puffs. Even if we ignore the Pro’s ice tank, getting an extra 30K puffs from 3 mL of e-liquid is unrealistic. The Core’s lowest power setting might stretch the liquid further, just not that much further.

Verdict

My first impression of the Cyclone Gust Core after unboxing was that it was just a Gust Pro without ice control. And while that may be partially true, it’s also much more than that. It’s smaller, has a traditional mouthpiece, and offers more control over the power output. It also charges faster and includes pass-through charging. These two products share a yin-yang balance: many similarities and a few key differences.

If you don’t benefit from ice control, the Gust Core is a better fit. You ditch the bulk of the secondary tank and gain an extra 3 mL of flavored e-liquid. But either way, you’ll get the same incredible performance and well-crafted flavors.

My biggest complaints are the unreliable liquid indicator (on one device) and the lack of adjustable airflow. I’m also skeptical about the 50K puff rating, especially when they rate the Pro at 20K. But exaggerated puff ratings have become the norm in the disposable market, so I can’t knock them too hard. Maybe one day, manufacturers will get on the same page and start marketing their products in milliliters. Fingers crossed!

Ultimately, the Gust Core is my new favorite device in the Cyclone Pods family. While I miss the Pro’s ice control and the Lightning’s compact size, the balance here just works for me. That’s what makes the lineup so appealing: different devices for different priorities.

Highly recommended.
