Vaporesso SWAG PX80: IML Screen and Easy Coil Swap

Product intro and specs

The Vaporesso SWAG PX80 is the latest AIO kit by Vaporesso. The company become quite popular for their great mods like the Gen and Luxe, but as of late has done well with pod vapes as well. The PX80 is an AIO system in a small package and is made for low wattage RDL vaping.

One of the most interesting features of this device is its IML embedded screen, which blends seamlessly with the panel and is only visible when the device is turned on. Other than that, it takes a single external 18650 battery, uses a fire button, and comes with a proprietary pod tank that has a 4 mL capacity. The tank takes the widely available GTX coils, which have been used by Vaporesso in a variety of devices in the past.

This kit was sent to me by Vaporesso for the purposes of this review.

Build quality and design

Vaporesso Swag PX80 screen image

The SWAG PX80 is a pretty small AIO system that’s very pocketable. It’s similar to their SWAG 2 kit, which was inspired by the popular Pico design where the battery cap is on top of the device next to the tank. It’s essentially a SWAG 2 kit but in AIO form. It’s got enough weight to feel solid and well-built without feeling too heavy. It stands approximately 99.7 mm x 47.9 mm x 25.1 mm. It’s not much bigger than an advanced pod device; it’s essentially the same size as their PM40 but just a bit wider to fit in the external 18650 battery.

I received the leather brown color of their options, and the other color options are emerald green, imperial red, brick black, and gunmetal grey. They all have the same black frame and carbon fiber panel on one side. The panel houses the 0.96-inch TFT screen, which is embedded in the panel using IML (in-mould labelling). This tech allows the screen to blend into the panel when it is off. I really like this feature, and the screen is nice, bright, and easy to see. The other side varies depending on the color option. The leather on mine is excellent. It feels nice and thick and looks great.

I haven’t had any paint chipping or similar issues with it at all. Overall, it’s really a good looking AIO system with plenty of color options and nice features to it.

Getting started

Vaporesso Swag PX80 Side View

The SWAG PX80 is a pretty typical pod system that’s simple to use.

  • Five clicks of the fire button to turn it on or off
  • Three clicks of the fire button to lock the adjustment buttons
  • Press up or down to adjust wattage
  • Hold up and down to enter the menu

The menu is basic, but it has a few modes. There’s Wattage, Voltage, and Smart Wattage which automatically sets your wattage depending on the resistance of the coil. There is also a daily puff history over your last seven days, the ability to reset it, as well as the ability to change the color of the screen between green, blue, and pink. The screen displays the wattage, a puff counter, a battery meter, resistance, and the recommended watts for the coil installed which is a great feature.

Vaporesso Swag PX80 Tank

The SWAG PX80 comes with a pod tank called the SWAG pod, which is similar to what devices like the Voopoo DRAG Max and the Lost Vape Ursa use. It’s held in place by magnets and pops in and out. You rotate the whole tank to adjust the airflow which goes from a DL to restricted DL. It can’t get really tight, but you could get a loose MTL with the air closed if you wanted to use the lower wattage coils on it.

Replacing the coils on this tank is great as well. They’re plug-n-play coils but I found that this type of coil can be tough to remove in most devices. Well, not in the PX80. The drip tip locks in place when rotated. When it’s time to replace the coil, turn the tip to unlock and remove the pod from the device. Then push the drip tip down and it’ll eject the coil. This process also seals the tank, so you can replace your coil even when the tank is full. It’s a great idea to have and makes replacing a coil simple, easy, and with no wasted juice.

Refilling the SWAG pod tank is easy. It’s like any pod system. The rubber plug is on the bottom of the tank. Just remove the pod, open the rubber, and refill. Overall a very easy to use pod system as it should be.

Performance

Vaporesso Swag PX80 Tank & Coils

The SWAG PX80 uses the GTX coils from Vaporesso, which I’ve used and reviewed in many devices in the past. It comes with two coil options.

  • A 0.2-ohm mesh coil rated for 45-60 watts
  • A 0.3-ohm mesh coil rated for 32-45 watts

You can also buy other options separately, with the full list of coils covering the 7-60 watt range. You can read the performance section of the PM40 review for the optional coils not included in this kit. This kit does have the same coils as the PM80 though, so I got to see if my experience was the same and if the coils were consistent.

Vaporesso Swag PX80 Tank Coils

The 0.3-ohm coil is best around 35 watts and it’s solid but not as good as the 0.2-ohm one. The 0.2-ohm coil is best around 40-45 watts and a really good coil for flavor and life. Both coils are fine to use with the kit, but when you buy replacements, it’s best to go for the 0.2-ohm coil if you want a DL vape—if you want a loose MTL then you should check coils from the lower-wattage range. Overall, the coils are good and easy to find too. Vaporesso is using this line with a wide array of tanks and pods, so you probably won’t have a problem finding coils in the foreseeable future.

Vaporesso lists the charging rate of the device at 2A. It is powered by an 18650 battery, so the life will depend on the battery you’ll be using with it. The max charge rate I got during my testing was 1.84 amps, which is more than good enough for a 2A rating. Anything higher than a 1.8A is suitable to be rated at 2A, so no complaints there. It does allow for passthrough vaping as well so you can vape while it charges (pauses charging while vaping and then resumes).

Pros / Cons

  • Solid build quality
  • Lightweight pocketable and durable
  • Nice leather panels
  • IML embedded screen looks great
  • Pods are held in firmly
  • Two included coil options
  • Three other coil options usable with this kit
  • Good flavor and longevity from 0.2-ohm coil
  • Easy to replace coils
  • Easy to use and fill
  • Coil release is great and seals tank
  • Good capacity (4 mL)
  • Clear tank (easy to see juice level)
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Would like to see more color options for the frames (instead of all black)
  • An included extra tank would be nice

Verdict

Overall, Vaporesso did an excellent job with the system. I really don’t have any complaints with the product itself and I found it hard to find any cons with this device. It’s a great AIO kit for beginners or even intermediate vapers who just want something small and simple without breaking the bank. If you are in the market for a small kit that uses your own batteries, this one is well worth looking at.

We’d like to hear from you. Have you tried the Vaporesso SWAG PX80 kit? How was your experience with the device? Let us know in the comments below.

I started doing reviews at the end of 2016 bringing a unique amount of data and fair points that has made them grow in popularity. I’m an avid temp control vaper but will vape pretty much any style of vaping. My goal is to bring as much good, fair, and unbiased information to the forefront as I can to aid vapers in making informed decisions to get the best vape for their style. I enjoy helping people really get the most out of their vape and finding their “aha” moment when it all clicks into place.

The coil swap is nothing short of brilliant. The only thing that irks me about it is that here we are in 2021 and a mess-free coil swap like this is a new thing. After years of HAVING to have a paper towel handy for a swap mid-way through a tank, finally the liquid gets sealed off from flooding out through the chimney.

Mine doesn’t / hasn’t leaked. Maybe a few drops in the well, but better than anything else I’ve owned (and that’s a lot!)
